  1. Article on Stuart Findlay in today's Daily Record.

"When I knew Newcastle were in for me, I didn’t care about money or moving away from home – none of that mattered.

“All I could think about was the fact that Rafa Benitez had actually sanctioned the deal for me. To hear that, it gave me an outrageous amount of confidence. Because of that I’ve arrived here with a real spring in my step."

  2. Can't see any mention of Ince  being linked anywhere.

It was in the Chronicle this morning

"A whole host of names have been mentioned, some seriously and others merely in passing, including Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford and even Aston Villa winger Scott Sinclair.

Anderlecht’s 22-year-old Ghanaian winger Frank Acheampong has been on Newcastle’s radar for a long while, as was 24-year-old Czech international Ladislav Krejci before his move to Bologna.

Derby County’s Tom Ince is also a player United have long admired."

  3. Hanley whilst not a world beater has done a job in poor Scotland and Blackburn sides. Whilst he doesn't look amazing he does have some decent attributes for a centre half.

Rafa over the years for me through his coaching and tactics has made some decent centre half pairings and he must see something in Hanley (if reports are true) that he can work with and improve.  Much like Gayle at the other end of the pitch I guess.

He's also shown this with Lascelles who is now the Golden child.  I'm sure at the start of last season many on here didn't even rate him that highly.  The season before, on loan at Forest, he couldn't even get a game each week.  However in a Rafa team his game has come on massively, I expect the same if we get Hanley (or Caulker etc who is similar that he has the attributes but hasn't had the consistency etc).

  4. With all this talk of him often being used at left back. Could we still be interested in Arbeloa too?

Would be good to have a couple of experienced players in the team.

  5. Will be Townsend's 12th club aged 24

Won't be getting a testimonial any time soon [emoji23]

Didn't realise he has only played 63 games at the highest level (not including internationals)...

  6. Dummett at LB pretty much is his style, though.

I've read that Rafa likes his full backs key strength to be their defensive work but his past players like Risse and signings of Fabio Aurelio and Ghoulam suggest he likes his full backs to offer something in the final third. Unfortunately something Dummett isn't too comfortable with.

If he sees Dummett as a centre half yes I would keep but as a left back I definitely think we need an upgrade.

  7. Whilst I feel Dummett will be good enough for us in the Championship, If teams are willing to pay the British premium price I would let him go on a minute. If we are serious about going straight back up I would rather Rafa was allowed to invest in a team that will be better suited to his style and capable of playing Premier League football next season.
