WHat does annoy with Milner is his insistance in lifting the ball, never blasting the ball low into the box.
There was a moment in the second half today especially, when he was on the left actually a yard or two inside the penalty box that was crammed with bodies, but instead of blasting it low into the pack for someone to maybe touch it in (even maybe one of theirs) he kind of chipped/flighted it over everyone. No point in those kinds of balls.
No, all in all a poor day at the office for him.

Speaking of sports you really hate... I hate Quidditch. You can tell it was invented by a woman and as filler for her story, because it makes no sense.

- Have one of Geremi or Butt replaced by a more offensive minded player
Who?
NF cited Emre, if he's fit (which having now checked nufc.com I see he might not be) then him of course. Otherwise yeah, forget it

Given
Beye Faye Taylor Enrique
Milner Geremi Emre N'Zogbia
Smith Martins
think I totally agree with that selection. Can't believe we're playing on Tuesday though! Only a two day gap between two matches.
This game is a great chance to do these things against decent/strong opposition:
- Play Smith up front
- Start Martins (should start the next league game anyway)
- Start Enrique
- Get Taylor back in the centre for a game
- Have one of Geremi or Butt replaced by a more offensive minded player
-
"Acts like a wanker" is about his constant pen claims for example. Like when he flicks the ball into the opposition's chest and flails and throws his arms around asking for a penalty about 5 times a game... actually it is a very annoying habit of his.

Capitalisation is everyone's friend... FFS!

Not really interested whatsoever in what Duff can or could do. Second choice.
Knew Zog would prove his quality again given a fair chance, after last year's freezeout. Just want to strangle that twat Roeder.
-
Impressive.
We could go on all day

OHHHHHHH the capital letter police will quickly make that thread title disappear
First thought that crossed my mind actually... and regarding the entire post

Haha James trying to sound football smart.
He won us the game today. Enough said.
Nothing that couldn't have been done in a left wing position. Until we get midfielders of immense attacking ability, playing Zog at left back compromises the team both defensively (because his defensive attributes aren't great) and offensively (because he is being held back by defensive responsibilities)
Can't really argue with that blueyes.gif

"Who loves the shirt more" certainly shouldnt be the first criteria of selection!! Should be who can bring the most to the team, and at the moment it's Martins. Seen nothing today to convince me otherwise.
Was a disappointing miss from him, but not that shocking for the reasons stated by tmonkey.
-
It showed today that he hates being under any pressure
Thought he was little shaky in the first half but that's a bit OTT.
Anyway I want him as Left Wing also, could only benefit him and the team more. Plus it would do Milner the world of good to switch to the right... poor display from him today. Would be like a double bonus (tripple even, as Smith wouldnt on the right anymore!)
-
Was impressed by our clearances today also () actually seeing Beye, Roze and Caça kicking those low crosses miles away is pretty refreshing after the year of mishits, miskicks, flick onto opposite players we've had from the Brambles and OBriens...
-
It'll be nice to see those disappointed with our play so far this season acknowledge we were much more attacking today.
In a sense it was... as you expect at home, but once again our 4 worst players were all accross the midfield. That is rather annoying. They didn't contribute much at all attacking wise. Thought Butt did pretty well, but there's not much point if his central partner is playing defensively too.

Zog Barclays MOTM
Really? Good.
The guy is great. Needs to be unleashed as a proper winger now though. Was a little flaky defensively first half. Great day for him though.
I thought he defended capably today. Very impressed by his work ethic in that position.
Can't fault his willingless at all. Class.

LOL at Martins' first touch... made any shot impossible, certainly made up for it. Over the moone for Le Zog!
Extremey Delighted for Martins too!! Must Hold on now!
-
Not too keen with Viduka coming off... only player capable of holding up the ball. Maybe a change of tactic?
Not feeling confident, West Ham back to pushing us around.
-
Milner has been pants today.
Was going to say that... looks he drifted into the comfort zone this game.... very poor. Needs a stint over on the right
-
Ljungberg about to come on it seems... good chance of him taking a tumble in the box and winning them a pen I'm sure! All he's good at these days.
-
Headlines will be about Owen and England regardless of the scoreline.
Plain and simple, hes a burden.
Last two games it's looked like it. Annoying if we have to sacrifice 10 minutes every game for him to realise he's fucked and has to come off.
-
Btw I'd like to see those who don't rate Viduka say something after this game. Ignoring the two goals, his all-round play has been fucking excellent.
It's a fine line when you play in that position, but you have to contrast it with the Boro game. Great goal there, but very poor overall. Today, brilliant.

HT.
Cracks showing in Zoggy as a left back in this game must say... can't fault the effort, but dodgy positioning at times. Just shows what we could be missing with him in a more purely attacking role, about time to stop the nonsense and just have him in left midfield already. Another reason is we really really need Milner out on the right!
Anyone else for once really hoping Smith does get booked, that would be 5 and a suspension on the way
Should Martins be an automatic starter?

He recovered well during that phase of play... sure he wanted to set himself up for a shot but his first touch was terrible
