  1. Literally the first thing that's happened with him has been controlled by those above him. Absolute waste of time, all of it.

Really sets the tone. Nothing will ever change.

To block the local press says it all, really as the Caulkin has mentioned.

  2. There isn't really a precedent for this though, is there?

Obviously from a common sense point of view the 2022 tournament should be moved... but since when is that ever a criteria in modern football.

There is a precedent - Columbia was removed as host and replaced by Mexico for the 1986 (?) one because they couldn't pay for it.

Personally I think Russia won't be moved - too close to the event and they've done a better job of covering their tracks.

There's precedent in changing the host, of course. But I meant in terms of the whole organisation/federation behind the backing being the issue.

Russia being three years away, plus by the time all this comes out and goes through the whole process of appeals and all that shit mean it'll likely be too late just from a logistics point of view. Qatar is the big one.

  4. The basic premise that they can't keep any of the main promises they made to get picked should be sufficient.

Plus that the process in choosing was also corrupt as fuck anyway.

  5. I've believed for years the model would prevent us from attracting top class managers, but now it even gets scoffed at by completely inexperienced manager hopefuls.

It's designed to attract exactly the kind of candidate Carver or McClaren are - desperate.

Hopefuls like Vieira know it's a way of destroying their managerial career before it even starts.

  6. Never a fan of him as a player, but I certainly will miss him here. Fantastic personality.

It came and went in his time here. Liked his role and contribution during our 4-3-3 days in 2012.

What a man, on Sunday though.

He tended to be excellent when the team was playing well and the first to go when the form started dropping.

Finally bucked that trend on the last day of the season though.

He was good when part of a system where he was mainly an enforcer and the pressure wasn't on him to create. Going forward he could just be the extra man.

... And basically, what you said.
