providing for those that need it or giving people like christiano ronaldo/gareth barry more millions ? You could probably afford to do both. probably but i'd have absolutly no desire to contribute to their overblown wages beyond my season ticket.

i'd pay for my season ticket. (if i had as much money as an abramovich or gates theres no way on earth i'd buy a football team)
-
nobody thinks they wouldn't want to move. it;s the way it comes about. "i'll try everything to get a move without doing anything to risk any pay off"

means he has 12 wives and needs a damn good reason to go to newcastle "on business"

FOR THE LAST TIME!!! HE HAS HAD IT!!! THEY ALL HAVE!!! IF YOU HAND IN A TRANSFER REQUEST YOU LOSE ANY SIGNING ON FEE YOU AGREE'D WHEN JOINING THE CLUB!! Habib had no signing on fee............ there are that many clauses built in....for example i thought a player was entitled to 10% of the fee if he hadn't asked for a transfer ?

they can be honest and up front. too often they are a last resort after the underhand stuff has failed.

Ridiculous analogy. Why should it be any different? They are paid to play football for this club at a high standard, why should they be allowed to expect a transfer when it's those very players that got us relegated, none of them wanted to take pay cuts, blaming everyone but themselves, it's ridiculous that you sit here and defend them, those players got us relegated, no one else, the fact that any of them are clapped off like hero's when they go and join another club is absurd. It's different because Habib Beye didn't make a mistake that got us relegated. Would I walk away from my hypothetical company if the owner had made a string of catastrophic decisions that had brought it to its knees before walking away and leaving it with no management and no hope while the thriving company over the road offered me a job? Probably, yes. "None of them wanted to take pay cuts" ffs. That's one thing I'm always doing at work like, asking them to give me less money so they can afford an extra box of pens in the stationary cupboard. You are categorically saying Beye made not mistake or error? The penalty at home to City? That could be deemed a mistake as he saw red for it, whether you think it was a penalty. And as for your patronizing pens in the stationary cupboard remark, the difference is Beye and thoes around him should be taking the cuts due to their own poor performance and relegation, that is my point, if you don't perform you don't get the top money, why should it be different? I bet if we were still in the top flight with no manager and owner half of these would at least stay till january, instead they can't get out quick enough, all of this "aww but I love the fans, I'm settled here" No, they love the over blown money they've been paid for turning in average performances, I'm not picking on Beye, Martins even Bassong towards the end went south, and made two or three mistakes, Tottenham and Wigan away, Fulham at home. It's the fact we got shoved this faux loyalty by the likes of Martins and Beye, one loves the city the others learning Geordie, just for them to be first out the door when it hits the fan, Martins is one of the biggest culprits, he missed two golden chances at Spurs and Portsmouth, both would have seen us survive. His big "mistake" that he should take a paycut for being an absolutely perfect tackle rather strengthens my point tbh. I get paid my wage regardless of how I perform tbh. That's how a contract works. And (relatively speaking) Habib Beye has been 100% worth his salary at NUFC imo. This "paycuts" drivel is f***ing ludicrous. Has anyone asked them to take a paycut? Or do you expect them to be rushing round SJP desperately trying to find someone to lower their salary off their own bats? You can think what you like about Martins, Beye and Bassong - I think if the rest of the squad was of their quality, we'd have survived quite comfortably. Better to have dross that "wants" to be here. and when it comes tumbling down they are ok in trying to engineer moves on the sly to drag more money out of an ailing club ? i hate watching italian football but recently some of their players have embarrassed the english league in honesty.

Rubbish man, you're condescending yourself. You're slamming them for f***ing off... so i mean, what? Do you want these players - who you visibly detest - still here? I'm not defending the bastards for getting us relegated (though i'd hardly but Habib Beye anywhere near the top of the list of key culprits for that), but if they want to go i can't blame them one bit. Even if it is a bit immoral. Like i said just there - i reckon at the very end of the season a lot of them would have been up for it. Two months down the line, it's clear as day that there isn't a hope in f*** of getting promoted, why they f*** are they going to want to stay? Don't blame them for leaving this shithole at all. Why would he want them here? To reap what they sow, you got us relegated now stay and get us back up. Can you just walk out on your job when you make a mistake? yes, pretty sure most can but cant afford to.

It isn't a good thing. People are saying that he obviously wants away so much it's probably better if he goes. We're undoubtedly weaker for him leaving but if he's not 100% committed to the club then it's probably better he leaves. If a player wants away then he should be honest enough to say so and he has done so hats off to him. I'd rather he stayed but there you go. Not the end of the world all things considered. but the way he has givend about has left a bad taste. given (verb): to try all you can to engineer a move without actually risking any pay out from the club by not putting in an official transfer request. slag the management off all you want, most of these players are just as dishonest (and greedier)
-
f***ing pathetic. A few poxy, stroppy, half-arsed performances this pre-season undoes absolutely everything a player has done for us? How he's performed, his mentality, his quality, etc etc. He wants to go. Acted like a bit of a tart but f*** it. He's done the right thing and put in a transfer request. one season very good, one season iffy. not jumping any band wagon here, i'm on record as saying steven taylor was as good at right back in the season just gone as beye was.

managers are over rated anyway. can't remember the last time i saw one score for us.
-
i've always thought keegan had little faith in his own coaching abilities. his best stuff for us was without spending comparable to man utd etc. was built on teamwork, pass and move etc. but it seems since then he's needed to outspend the rest to get results. did fulham or man city ever come close to the nufc of his first couple of years ?
-
It won't be. We're talking about Ashley et al remember. it will probably be put back into the club but more likely to pay bills rather than strengthen the squad.
-
i believe most managers would have had we got one instead of kinnear/hughton.
-
google fiasco is a great name for a horse though.
-
nope...LAST. his mams claimed a few to be his father, keegan was the one she settled on.
-
then he'll deny the denial.
-
tooj man . for the last time. KEEGAN ISN'T YOUR LONG LAST FATHER.
-
so he should be in the champs league and in the last few years he hadn't done much. can you see the paradox.
-
i'd trust the sport over parky.
-
what would ? Have you ever seen a man eat his own head? nope i've never seen that. however if it happened i've no doubt it would have an nufc connection. edit...silence of the lambs II

So you Think Ashley is Right, and keegan is wrong? Not at all but if he loved the club so much he should of stood his ground and stayed and seen things through instead of leaving, Yeah like Martin Jol did at Spurs, that ended well for him. It blows my mind how anyone can think Keegan should have stayed, it was painfully obvious to everyone that he doesn't have the job he thought he did, yet with no say over who was in his playing staff he would still be judged on results, anyone who stays in those circumstances regardless of club is a complete fanny and deserves zero respect. Plus Keegan's record in the second tier is second to none, in half a season he saved us from certain relegation, in his first full season he pissed the league, and in one season with Manchester City he obliterated the league and set a points and goals record which I think still stands. If the circumstances are right for him then that's generally a good indicator that the circumstances are right full stop, and if they remain so then I'm confident Keegan will remain manager. Even in a worst case scenario Keegan quits after say 18 months, it's highly likely he'll be leaving behind a Premier League club which is something not many other realistic candidates can offer with any degree of certainty. Failing Keegan I'd prefer someone who has proven themselves as a manager to Shearer, Darren Ferguson for example has got a flawless record so far, whereas Shearer really has nothing to recommend him for the job other than a love of the club, which when it boils down to it means next to nothing (and if he was bad there could be a real reluctance to sack him thus further damaging the club). Not to say he may not one day be a great manager, I hope he is, but there's nothing to suggest it yet and this next manager could be the difference between a swift bounce back up and being a mid table Championship side for the next 5 years, not the time to take that big of a risk imo. revisionism of the highest quality. we were not certs for relegation though it looked more likely than not and to be honest we looked closer to going down after derby and millwall beat us. yes keegan has a great record getting teams promoted however with fulham and citeh he could outspend everyone hugely.

in a money no object scenario i'd choose neither. i'd like them both to involved with the club in some way though.
