Not if transfer revenue is not released by SJH. It could be he is holding on till he gets all the revenue possible in and then letting go to the new owners who's welcome will be a nasty letter from Barclays. It's the only thing that makes sense to me. Why hang on if he has to keep finding from HIS OWN FUNDS the player wages?? Who knows? I'm just trying to understand his reticence at selling the club quickly and getting out of the forest fire that is surely coming. if the overdraft is paying the wages then that will fall on new owners. his retcence will be that he thinks a better offer is coming or they are haggling over the details.

i really don't think those results will phase him. i wonder what the figures would have been like on trading alone ? interesting to see that he's opened more shops while property/leases are cheaper and "other investments" ie buying when the market is low. seems like in his business he is planning ahead and is taking advantage of the market.

But he still made a profit in these difficult times. A hell of a lot of companies are making a loss so any profit is pretty good. And he managed to open new stores and buy into more companies. Once theres a turn around his profits will go through the roof again. You're looking at about 18 months for a turnaround. He's asking way too much for the club and this is hampering any interested parties (if any are left). how much is he asking ?

1 stadium per host city That can't be true. What about London?? Choosing one from Wembley, Emriates, Twickenham, Stamford Bridge and Spurs' new gaffe?? Theres plenty of room for both stadia They only used Wembley during Euro 96, although there were fewer grounds used. is nobody going to point out that newcastle and sunderland are seperate cities ?

benwell lad....sunderland can not go anti-newcastle on this as they are relying on newcastle to transport the fans there, give them somewhere to sleep, feed and water them without being abused. if only newcastlegateshead had a stadium big enough to cater for it...........................................hang on a minute ?

quite possibly true.

St James's Park is owned by Newcastle council, and the bids are not from the football clubs, but from the cities, so Newcastle's position does not count, only that of the ground and city facilities. I thought the ground was owned by the football club (well Ashley really) No, he paid for some sort of lease, meaning that the freehold is held by Newcastle city council, and that if NUFC where to ever not exist (god forbid) or move away etc, then the lease would be terminated and Newcastle city council would be left with a stadium. But in that situation, and I'm playing Devil's Advocate here, surely the S.O.S would be considered more suitable.Would the council pay to maintain a ground,to keep it in tiptop condition,so it would pass stringent safety checks? whoah up there billy, even if the worst does happen and we go to administration then there will be plenty chomping to take us over as the debt will be shrank (as in "you can have 10p in the pound or get sod all you scoundrel)...there will still be football played at SJP. hope thats calmed your fevered brow.

if the contract is more than a rolling monthly type it means no takeover.

i'd rather we tried a players comittee to run the playing side.

Maybe he's never wanted to sell the club...maybe the terms aren't right for him...maybe the promise of Shearer and selling the club were a smokescreen to keep fans buying season tickets, shirts etc...Would you buy a second hand car from him? he wants to sell the club. the smokescreen is a non starter as he could have sold at a better price last christmas........brinkmanship maybe that hasn't paid off. as for the 2nd hand car...i wish i could afford one of his.

it's all making sense now. ashley has a huge wager on kinnear to die in 2009. he thought last late 2008 would get him ready but joe nearly went too early.....mike thinks he can finish him off and clean up.

No, I have never made out I'm reading Nietzsche. That's the second time you've said that and you were wrong the first time too. As for bitter, well you'd do well to ask yourself who's the bitter one here. You're the one dishing out lectures dahlink and calling people nutters and paranoid....All fairly subjective terms when applied to people you've never met. What happened to you? Lots of things, but then as you've never met me you wouldn't have known who I was then, just as you don't know who I am now, so I don't know how you can be so sure that it's me who has changed. The only thing we can say has changed for definite is your opinion of me and as you're responsible for that, why are you hassling me about it!?! I've changed, you used to like me, now you don't. Fine, whatever you think, I heard you the first time, you can shut up about it now. Why you suddenly feel the need to snipe at me all the time, I have no idea, I'm not your f***ing ex, go stalk someone else. chill out man indi. now ne5's gone parky has become an apprentice wum.

a lot depends on what happens to "the loan". is it written off or to be paid back and if so in what way, what intrest etc. anything more than the window price of 100mill and carrying the overdraft is a bit steep imo.
