going off what i've read (only seen him play once and he never stood out) he is the full package. technique, pace, strength. acn go alone and bring others in and feed off. good in the air and on the deck.
-
would need quite a turn round in form.

They always look good on paper... but football is played on grass as the old saying goes. They always look good on paper... True, but like the Spanish i'd never bet against them. Sneijder, Robben, Van Persie, Huntelaar, Van Horseface, Van der Vaart, Babel - not bad! has drenthe pushed on to getting a regular place or has he burnt out ?
-
part of any sentence should include that he has to lose the scouse accent.

Owen is an exceptional case. He is simply brilliant. His scoring instinct is still probably the best in EPL. You are right on this. Eduardo and Torres are outstanding imo. Yes they don't have the pace of Bellamy or Martins but I can bet you that they both dribbles faster than Bellamy and Martins. This is especially true for Torres. I have watched over 30 matches for Real Madrid this season and to be honest Raul scored a lot because of Guti. Without Guti Raul will never bounce back, and that's the strongest argument why Raul shouldn't be picked. i'm talking about raul even in his prime of a few years ago. torres can dribble fast...thats technique not pace.

Totally agree - fancy Villa to run Spurs very close for 5th next season. We will not be in serious contention for at least 3 years. spurs ? who we have turned over 4 times deservedly in the last 5 outings and fluked the other and who finished 3 points ahead of us ? at the end of the window they might have pulled away in terms of squad but as yet i don't see it. where does anyone think nufc would have finished last season hads Keegan took over on sept 1st 2007 ?

Certainly, but for a striker or a forward nowadays, you need to be physically outstanding in order to make it in the highest level. A good example is Eto'o, who has lost his exploding pace after injury and has been extremely s***. If Spurs sign him for 24m it will be a heaven like news for us --- a even worse signing then Bent. Gomez is great in finishing. I wouldn't say he is technically better than Klose but he is a lot more consistent. To be fair I rate him same as Klose as a goal threat, but he is only 22 years old and is already doing wonders. He also has the physique to make it and that's the reason why he has a very promising future, unlike Podolski. you don't need to be physically outstanding. even with his lack of pace michael owen would be in the top 4 if he played more games. raul isn't phsically outstanding nor eduardo. torres isn't as tall as most of the defenders marking him and doesn't have the pace of bellamy or martins.

we didn't deserve to get there and long term it was possibly a good thing.

you or vokes (wouldn't be surprised with either)

I have read tons of reports praising him from Germany's media. Certainly there is over hyping but the fact that he has been performing marvelously for 2 seasons and scored a lot did explain why he is the best striker in Germany now. I agree that he is not proven yet in Europe competition, but why people rate him so high is because he has the physical strength and pace that Podolski and Huntelaar don't have. Podolski cannot make it because he is not fast enough but the same reason will not apply to Gomez, who is taller, stronger, and faster. sad indictment of the way some look at the game. yes those attributes are nice but don't go even half way to making a good player. nouse, poise and technique are all greater attributes.

spain will be interesting. always flattering to deceive. they have some quality players but it never seems to come together.
-
i've £50 on germany (looking to lay at quarters or semis)
-
don't know if there's been one started. any predictions, discussion etc about the championships in here. particularly interested to hear from isegrim and parky about how the locals view germany's chances.

where do you live? the english PL, whether you want to believe it or not, has a higher profile than the german bundesliga and spanish PL...ergo elano will get more exposure for his "handful" of decent games (jesus) good insight on petrov, perhaps because of the lack of exposure i get to the spanish league (ahem) i still thought he was the pacy, tricky, quality left winger spurs were looking to pay 10m for and who turned to out to do a decent job in england in the end your point about luque only backs me up - you really think a player would leave deportivo where he played in the CL semis and challenged for the spanish title simply 'cause they missed europe and we were in the uefa qualifying rounds? get a grip man Of course does the English league gets more exposure. I won't dispute that. But if you'd ask people from Spain, Italy, France etc. who they think has a higher profile I don't think too many would rate Elano above van der Vaart. In regard to Luque: Yes, I think Newcastle had much more pulling power back then to attract higher profile players from foreign leagues. van der vaart has been in a top euro league for a while...elano came from relative obscurity in russia. maybe in a year or so elano's "profile" will be as high.

if they are administration krasner would have no say. or was the bid before administration ?
-
it's a self fulfilling thing. i am beginning to hate them because through some fucking muppets they have about as many threads on here as we do.
-
are we starting to call people slow if they don't have bellamy style speed ?
-
what isegrim says is right but there have been occasions when it did happen.......if we can afford it stick a bid in and see what happens.

What are you on about, was that the terms of the deal ? The pieces gleamed from the transfer (some definite, some less definite) are that: We offered Dinamo and Modric more money No club was allowed to speak to Modric in person. Dinamo owned him like a slave. Dinamo owners, the Mamic brothers chose where he was going. We wanted to terminate this slave contract and make Peter Harrison Modric's agent. Spurs wanted to do the same. Mamic brothers didn't want this, and Spurs agreed to throw in a minimum fee clause and a sell on clause as conditions meaning that Spurs will have to sell in a couple of years if a bigger club comes sniffing, and the Mamic brothers will get the profits from this sale. We wouldn't do this. So Mamic brothers made him go to Spurs. Thats a lot of info. Smacks of Anelka being controlled by his brothers, which doesn't say too much for his strength of character. Do you believe it or do you have proof ? Thing is also, you asked me a question, and ala Tevez and Mascherano, this sort of transfer will start to become more common, so the simple answer is, as usual, if you don't compete with the big boys you won't be one yourself. what happens if you attempt to compete but make a spectacularly bad job of it and dig yourself into a position it looks increasingly difficuilt to get out of ? bit like a poor manager...he tries his best,no-one doubts the effort but he has to go.

as someone who's seen him in the flesh i would say his face moves fine when it wants but he is not the best people person if you get my drift.

I know you didn't answer the question about that boot room in Huddersfield where Shearer and Keegan held talks, thanks for reminding everybody else though. no names then ? and no comment on fat freds last 3 appointments as manager or worsening on and off the field performances or any sign that things would improve.
