i'm concerned we could be seen as a chelsea or a west ham who nobody repects because of their spending policy as opposed to a man utd whose policy is much better
-
None, the takeover hasn't even been completed. Can I not express a concern? Did i say you shouldnt? Just saying that theis concern is based on how people on here are reacting. Flimsy to say the least. Allardyce isnt known for splashing out and he seems to be doing what he always does. West Ham have acted in this transfer window in a complete opposite manner to us so far, so again, not evidence. The point is we've traditionally spent lots of money and got nowhere. Now we potentially have loads more money available I hope we continue with the plan Allardyce was brought in to work on, which is prudent spending. i just hope his methods stay the same ie value.

a little. i don't want us to go overboard chelsea style buying players just cos we can and to keep them away from the opposition(parker, wright philips etc etc etc)but as has happened with us in the past fees and wages go up when it's known you have cash.

le chat se repose sur la table ? thought it was LA chat; not le!!! probably, like i say my french is not magnafique

he's stiil got 2 years left and coming back from a major injury plus man utd know he wants to stay. can't see much happening with him till jan at the earliest (i have been known to be massivly wrong)

as soon as barton signs, now that it looks like the ashley deal is coming to a happy coclusion, should NUFC get in contact with the ammers and say "you want parker...say please.....say pretty please...say pretty please with a cherry on top"
-
No room for Oba? no room for giuly. this could go massive over the next few weeks

A good captain doesn't just wear the armband though. A good captain should be inspirational and be able to keep his head up and lift the rest of the team when things are going bad. and do it wether or not he is captain. tony adams when playing for england, led, organised, inspired without the need for an armband.

what about david barton ?

Based on 1 absolute failure? (I wouldn't class Domi and Distin as failures personally) Overall they were a failure, both buggered off (Domi - went AWOL and Distin was more interested in the money).... Domi was homesick and we eventually got more or less back what we paid for him. Looked very good when he played. Distin was a loan signing and had no obligation to sign for us and did well. Plus Bobby preferred Bramble anyway so... So both of them in general where bad for Newcastle. frank dumas, laurent charvet, alain goma edit.....i don't see any reason why players from france shouldn't do well here.i think it was just a time when it was in vogue to have frenchmen as if they were guaranteed to be better than others

i think you lot make too much of what a captain does.

shay given....for his testimonial season. if you're looking for a leader,a true leader will do that regardless of wether he has an arm band or not.

I doubt Real Madrid paid Woody £70k a week...Barton isn't worth that ammount of money. we arent real so we have to tempt with other carrots......doubt it's £70,000 anyway I honestly feel that we should stop this route of spending mega £££ on average players (I think Barton is a good player), I'm sure Parker was on great wages and I thought Barton would come in with more sensible wages. Once all this crazy money stops getting thrown around and Barton has more run-ins he could prove very hard to shift (i.e. Dyer). Spurs and Everton have managed to assemble good sides without being raped for wages. If rumours are believed to be correct, Barton is earning twice the amount of money as Berbatov or Defoe. Piss poor business if you ask me. I hope it's bollocks and he's on £40k or so . how much did spuds pay for berbatov and defoe.........i may be wrong on defoe...but healthy cash

got to be away kit ?

aye, when (if true) villa bidding £7mill for reo-coker

Now why would we give him an extra £10k a week for? to employ an electronic tag minder ?

All we are waiting for is a fax from Man City to complete the deal. He left SJP to think things over and then came back a short time later to agree to sign. Signs officially in the morning (Fax permitting!) signs officially usually means signed hours ago but lets have some pics of himsigning a blank sheet of paper

I was going with an attacking 4-3-3 with all the strikers, which could be our home setup, and would be interesting. Defensive i'd go 4-5-1 -------------Butt--------- ----Barton---------Zoggy Milner-----------------Martins -----------Viduka--------------- I'm not adding Duff into this as he's out for half a season. For me Milner has to be in the squad somewhere, arguably our best player last season, i hope SA has a big future from him here. i remember doing all this sort of stuff on gran canaria when we'd signed ferdinand, ginola etc
