  1. The DJ in Mood on Saturday night mentioned Fulham were in there, dunno how true that was. You go to Mood? eurgh... The description on the Burglar's Dog is probably the most hilariously accurate in the whole book. "Wahey! It's just like Noel's House Party, this!"
  2. That's the difference a few wins (and a goal) makes. We'll see a different set of opinions soon. I don't think anyone on here will be happy to see Smith and Nolan as our central midfield pairing at the start of the next season. Ideally we'd all like a creative central midfielder who can bring some mobility to our central midfield. Howver credit is due where credit is due, Nolan's goals DID get us a hell of a lot of points, and if it weren't for his goals we'd be much lower down the table. From what I've seen of Nolan, he doesn't get involved as much as he should beause his general lack of mobility however when he does get on the ball he's an intelligent player. So there Nolan's a shit premierleague player due to his lack of mobility, but down here in the championship I think he did a decent job despite looking like shit. Now I'm sure everyone on here, including Hughton would rather have Kaka in our central midfield than Nolan, but lets be honest, Chris Hughton has had to severely cut our wage bill whilst trying to build our paper-thin squad to last the season and mount a promotion challenge. I think he's done quite well. Yes Hughton hasn't dropped Nolan much this seaon, but let me ask you this, who would you have rather played? I mean Barton was injured, lets not even talk about Butt. That leaves us with, Guthrie, Smith and Nolan who we've seen a lot of this season. More often than not when Smith and Nolan was paired, it was when one of our wingers were injured and Guthrie had to be moved out to the wing. If we had a certain Kaka sitting on our bench, and yet Hughton was insisting on Nolan starting in central mid, I'd be calling for his head too. Yeah he's dogshit but he's the best we've got and he's done an alright job. I think Hughton has done well with the shit he has. Yes we'd like to have signed a central midfielder but, in the January transfer window Hughton signed a right winger, 2 back up centre halves, a left back on loan and a back up strike. I think that's good activity for one transfer window, and he did this while spending hardly any money at all. Priority was filling the gaping hole left by Taylor and Enrique getting injured, and he's done that well. My faith in Hughton signing a better cental midfielder before next season lies entirely in the Wayne Routledge transfer. Noone here expected Hughton to sign a player like Routledge, everyone could see that our team was unbalanced with all our attacks coming from our left, we all thought Hughton was a daft prick who couldn't see this and would settle with Pancrate, it was just one of those things which we fans could see but the manager just didn't seem able to. How often have you felt that way since Sir Bobby left? I've felt that way many times, where our problems were so blatant but the manager didn't address them or just didn't seem to know. Well Hughton did see it and he signed Routledged which has drastically improved our squad. Because of this transfer I believe he's not as stupid as many people think he is, and I believe he will sign a central midfielder. I also think Hughton is learning is trade and is improving, like our later games he's been fielding a slightly more offensive team, I think he's actually a better manager now than he was when he was our caretaker in the premierleague. This tbf.
  3. No, myself and the other posters who aren't either deaf, dumb or blind have established that. He's played a lot of games, not at all surprised his form has dipped slightly from what it was earlier in the season. It wouldn't surprise me if he was burnt out.
  4. So no player is slow just unfit? By your reasoning Guthrie is unfit. Slow? Why are you bringing pace into the argument? Because that's the only thing your "Nolan is unfit" argument seems to be based on. Where the hell did I mention Nolan's pace? He's slow, but that's not what I was using against him at all. So he's slow and unfit and unprofessional, right? That's why he's a disgrace? A professional athlete on 40K a week being unfit is a disgrace, yes. But he's not unfit, we've pretty much established that.
  5. Debatable. That Bolton side was built around him and one or two other players.
  6. We've went down every other avenue and hit a dead end. He plays more games than most, he covers a lot of ground, he's always been heavy set even in his pomp at Bolton. Pace, or lack of it, is the only thing holding this ridiculous, no-basis-in-reality, claim by yourself together.
  7. His game has always been based around coming into the box after the event. His goal against Preston was typical of his style of play.
  8. So no player is slow just unfit? By your reasoning Guthrie is unfit. Slow? Why are you bringing pace into the argument? Because that's the only thing your "Nolan is unfit" argument seems to be based on.
  9. We are not Man United and Hughton is not SAF though.
  10. Can't think of many fat, unfit central midfielders we've had full stop. Did you ever see John Barnes play for us? :-[ He made Kevin Nolan look like Aaron Lennon Wasn't he our top scorer one year or did I imagine that? You're kidding? With 6 goals? Christ Dalglish was worse than I remembered. Even Fatty ballaty Kluivert scored more than him. I can remember Beresford being shit hot* in front of goal that season too *I say shit hot, I mean he scored once or twice.
  11. Can't think of many fat, unfit central midfielders we've had full stop. Did you ever see John Barnes play for us? :-[ He made Kevin Nolan look like Aaron Lennon Wasn't he our top scorer one year or did I imagine that?
  12. Again I ask, do you know him? So you have to be a military grade stalker before you can pass cursory judgement on a player? Strange. Only if you're commenting on his 'off the field attitude'.
  13. Can't think of many fat, unfit central midfielders we've had full stop.
  14. Shearer never did alot of running at the age of 29, was he unfit? f***ing hell. How many times have you see Nolan play this season without the help of a Sky dish? Does a cable count? No. Although watching a match in Shearer's Bar counts as a half. Seriously though, answer the question. Not sure why TV viewing is less valid, but i've seen 14 games as SJP this season. I don't believe you can seriously evaluate a players contribution on TV, you don't see the whole pitch, movement off the ball etc. Either way I think you need your eyes checked.
  15. Shearer never did alot of running at the age of 29, was he unfit? f***ing hell. How many times have you see Nolan play this season without the help of a Sky dish? Does a cable count? No. Although watching a match in Shearer's Bar counts as a half. Seriously though, answer the question.
  16. Agree with that. I think you can attribute his slight dip in form to him being burnt out.
  17. Shearer never did alot of running at the age of 29, was he unfit? f***ing hell. How many times have you see Nolan play this season without the help of a Sky dish?
  18. Simple question - how many times have you watched him play with your own eyes this season?
  19. The f*** are you chuntering on about? For someone in such awful physical condition he's done well to play 35 times this season - more than anyone else in the team. He's heavy set and he's not particularly quick but if you watch him for any length of time it's clear to all he's fit enough. Absolute bollocks. It's a massive indictment of Hughton that he's played 35 times this season, not an endorsement of Nolan's fitness which most on this forum can see is very poor. No, it's a massive indictment of the state of our midfield. I think most on this forum can see you talk utter shite on a consistant basis. I have sat and watched Nolan with my own eyes (something I doubt you have due to the complete horseshite you post on here not just in this thread but everywhere else) more times than I care to count this season and there is no way he is unfit.
  20. The fuck are you chuntering on about? For someone in such awful physical condition he's done well to play 35 times this season - more than anyone else in the team. He's heavy set and he's not particularly quick but if you watch him for any length of time it's clear to all he's fit enough.
  21. How can you make comments on a players attitude off the pitch when you know the square root of fuck all about the bloke?
