  1. i dont agree with the Shearer comparison because certainly in his years with us he relied heavily on the players around him performing well I know what you mean about Martins though, I said it before and during the Villa game, he's the only player at this club capable of winning a game with scraps to feed on. If he's on form, we can get a result against anyone Bullsh!t. Shearer pretty much did it all. That's not true. Sure, we were a much, much better side with Shearer in the starting XI but towards the end of his career players like Bellamy/Robert had a huge effect on his effectiveness and ability to find the net.
  2. Risks like that need taking though. Give him money and time and I fancy him to be a decent manager.
  3. When I watched a reply of the incident I was certain he said big baby rather than big lips. It's clear there was nothing in it and it was just an on field spat but the press love to blow shit like this out of proportion.
  4. I agree. I can see it being 1-0/2-1 either way. Fingers crossed it'll be ours.
  5. Yeah I know, but its their constant slagging us off as no marks and nobodies that makes it funny! I'm fed up with fans of other teams talking about us like we're the anti-christ or something. WTF have we done to deserve such loathing. Enjoy it. I fucking hated it when we were the nation's "second favourite team"
  6. No. Just shit. No doubt the Daily Mail readers will be burning effigies of him in a wicker man along with Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross but fuck 'em. BNP loving wankers.
  7. Barton never fouled Agbonlahor. Players do that all the time when "shielding" the ball for a throw in so that certainly wasn't a foul. Agbonlahor was in the wrong for hoying him to the ground. Barton should be very careful when raising his hands to people though. If Agbonlahor had went down he'd be out for another six games at least. I hope Kinnear talks to him about it.
  8. I'd put Coloccini in the 'trusted' camp. I think this is his type of game, playing against nippier, ball-playing attackers is what he'll be used to. If he plays Taylor, he'll get the job of trying to block Carew. You'd think that's how it would pan out wouldn't you? Except somehow Colo always seems to be the one attacking the headers while Taylor is usually running backwards towards the goal line. Colo definitely takes on a lot more responsibility for our defence. I hardly ever notice taking charge of situations, and I'm not just saying it to disparage the guy, it's honestly how I feel. The poor sod can't even speak English yet. Give him until he can shout his arse off at Taylor properly before you judge him.
  9. I did like the few idiots on the SMB who seemed to think it was a brilliant idea. "lol am gona gt 1 2 wind up al tha mags at wrk!" Wind up? This has arguably been the easiest come down from a derby defeat i've ever had because of the small time attitude of those up the road
  10. The DVD is the best one. A tenner to relive what was quite frankly a very fucking tedious game of football? Jesus wept
  11. Absolutely. We are very much a club that needs galvanised a, "shearer" would do that IMO. Still think Bilic would be canny like. Bilic would be my very first choice but he'd never come here.
  12. It makes him much, much more qualified than Shearer. Without doubt, but there are probably Sunday League managers who are more qualified. But qualified enough to take this job? Managing in the Champions League? I'd say he's qualified.
  13. It makes him much, much more qualified than Shearer. Does it? Not convinced Any management experience > No management experience. It's not rocket science. Shearer is only qualified in some peoples minds because he's a local lad who scored a couple of goals. Until he's had a job in management then Ketsbaia is the better candidiate.
  14. It makes him much, much more qualified than Shearer.
  15. I'm sorry but there is nowhere where Shearer could 'prove' himself for this job. If you are getting in a Shearer or Keegan then it becomes more than just management. Dalglish, Gullit, Souness, Allardyce. All to a degree proved themselves elsewhere and either won trophies or got teams playing above themselves. All failed here. Keegan, unproven but worked. The exception is of course SBR, but there is not another Bobby waiting around the corner Shearer could prove he has some degree of tactical nous by taking a job elsewhere and not ruining them. I know a lot was said about Keegan being tactically naive but he's proven he's not. Dalglish was never going to be given the chance to dismantle Keegan's team and build his own band of cloggers who would grind out results, Gullit has proven he's inept by ruining almost every club he's been to since he left us, Souness ran clubs into the ground on an almost yearly basis prior to joining us. Yes, he had a good year or two at Blackburn but soon got found out. BSA also suffered from Dalglish syndrome. He needed to knock us down and build us up in his own image but he wasn't going to get the chance. Keegan was unproven, but we were drinking in the last chance saloon and we needed to take a risk. Personally, I think Ketsbaia is a great choice. He's young, he's got connections with the club, he's proven he can manage on a big stage and he's interested in the job. After Famagusta's run in the CL this year it's only a matter of time before he gets picked up by a bigger club.
  16. He could do that here Would you want to take the risk? Very few top players make good managers. If we took a risk on him and he turned out to be Souness in disguise we couldn't realistically get rid of him for fear that the masses would go mental again. We can't afford to take a risk in our current situation. At least if he tries at a League 1\Championship club like Ince we'd know he's half decent.
  17. Who do you suggest then in this current plight As I say in the takeover thread i'd go for Ketsbaia.
  18. We should avoid Shearer until he's proved himself. If he's shit (and there is every chance he will be) and the new owners get rid there'll be another batch of morons kicking off on SSN about it. Get Ketsbaia in. His stint at Famagusta has shown he had the potential to be a top class manager. He wants the job too.
