Public opinion on Tyneside from large sections of fans is that they no longer trust statements coming out of the club after several empty promises. What assurances can you give fans that they can believe what the club tells them?

WE don’t feel we’ve made empty promises. Sometimes in these situations it’s impossible to win.

If we say nothing we are criticised. If we state our intentions and they are not realised, we are criticised.

Seriously, I don't know if one option could be "to win this" to make stated intentions realised. At least it should be thought about, I don't think it's impossible.  :kasper:

  2. Said it before, but even when Carroll is playing for the dippers I can't dislike the guy.  I want to, but I can't.  Never wanted to see the lad fail miserably.  Even when he scored for England I was pleased for the big c***.

Pedro f***ed off to Liverpool and came back, so AC can do the same.  Come home you pikey looking woman beater.

I know the feeling. I want to laugh at him for failing  but on the other side I feel kinda proud and hope he does well. Totally split.

  3. The Carroll-sale was possibly the worst sort of deal for everyone on here, only Ashleys pocket benefitted. The money was good but we are never gonna see them. Hence its pointless using the amount of quid as an arguement. We lost our best striker and brought no replacement in, not now - not ever.

Horrible deal, horrible for fans, horrible for NUFC. Good deal for FMA.

That depends on how you calculate the expenses. If we include agent fees, salaries during the contract period and sign on fees, we've used all the money. And a very, very important factor is that we used some of those money to tie down Tiote for 6,5 years.

You're so emotionally tied to Carroll that you have difficulties to see what we've bought/secured for the future with the money we sold him for:

    *Tiote

    *Cabaye

    *Ba

    *Maveraux

In sum, those players are of course much better than Carroll. And we have REPLACED Carroll if we're talking about getting in a similar player (Ba), but if you're yearning for a marquee signing, we have not succeeded. Personally, I think it's important to consider many aspects: I don't want us to use too much, he must be fast and have a good engine, and he must fit into the squad.

What a post, you always deliver.

  4. Beginning to think a good percentage of the forum accounts on here are on Ashley's payroll in one shape or another.

Oh no!  Someone had a different opinion to you on an internet forum.  They must be getting paid.

If anyone on Ashley's payroll would like to contact me about disagreeing with HawK, or any other user, I'd be willing to listen to offers.

The Carroll deal seemed to work well for everyone involved.  We got a s*** load of cash, Carroll got a massive wage rise, Liverpool got a young, English striker and his agent made a fortune.  As it has turned out, the money we received hasn't obviously been reinvested in the squad and we've not replaced him in the team and Carroll hasn't settled yet at Liverpool and hadn't come close to finding the same form for Liverpool that got him the transfer in the first place.

The thing isn't about Carroll. It's just a total mess that we had 8 months to find a striker and we didn't. And here are people who think it's acceptable.

We had longer than 8 months, we needed a striker before Carroll left.

I know we did, but after Carroll it was a must.

Someone said it on here not long after he moved, that Carroll and Liverpool were 'an uneasy fit' and he'd be back here one day. I completely agree, it's one of those transfers that completely knacks the momentum of a player. Similar to Benjani who banged in about 10 for Pompey by January and then made a pointless move to Man City where he got about 4 goals in 3 years. He was settled here, and should have dug his heels in and stayed.

That's true, but it's a tough call. Without the sale of Carroll it's not sure that we could have afforded Cabaye, Maveraux or BA. In reality we got three potentially very good players for the price of one potentially very good player.  Besides, we need a different kind of attacker than Carroll:fast, poacher and who's capable of beating the offside trap.

This post just cracks me up. Four sentences full of c***.

  6. Rainforest : Regarding the first point, that is pure speculation of course..But we never know..People should be aware the huge sign on fees and agent fees involved.

Regardig the second point: The whole point of football is to put assemble players that fit together. Players that on paper look great can be s*** if they're used on the same team, because they're almost identical in their style of play (eg Gerrard and Lampard on the national team). Ba and Carroll like to participate in the build up play, they're not the kind of players that beat the offside trap. An effective attack (if 4-4-2 is used) is based on two players with OPPOSITE movements. One runs towards the ball while the other runs in space. That stretches the defense. Carroll is not this type of player. So you're right, we need a Loven v10.

Hey Derek, did we really try to bring in another striker in the summer?

  7. Get in! Now we will finally see Loven's capabilities as striker..Cabaye will give him the through balls he didn't get last seson..I predict one goal and one assist  :celb:

Your day has arrived Punk. Tin helmet at the ready, son.

 I know, but I just have a good feeling..And if he sinks Fulham, 99 % of the forum will have a lot of explaining to do. I'm probably the only exception  :pow:

What is there to explain? How s*** player scored?

  8. I think Sammy and Vukic could be our saving grace if we don't sign a striker. Both have an eye for goal and showed quality that wasn't evident of some of their senior team mates. Sammy didn't just hit a super strike, his crossing and passing were clever too.

Lovenkrands has more experience so never gonna happen.

  9. I would consider this window to be a massive success if we can bring Maiga and Cissokho in, but equally important for future would be to get Joey and Colo sign new contracts.

  10. i thought he gave us a threat in behind in the second half and did a good job carrying the ball 30/40 yards up field for us when we needed it/ he could learn an awful lot from jonas though in terms of working hard when he loses it and how and when to win free kicks.

there was one moment when there was only 1 defender between him and the goal and he could've just motored past him but tried to meg him and f***ed it up, frustrating

I didn't think he even tried to nutmeg, just ran the ball straight to defender.

  11. Ryan Taylor outstanding? Get real. He was atrocious against Arsenal.

Yeah he's a right footed midfielder not played for months filling in at left back.......  Bit harsh.

By the same logic if I played on goal against Fulham and tried my best, would I be outstanding too?

How can you say we should get rid of Best when we have Lovenkrands in our bench? I would start Best ahead of Shola/Obertan/Lovenkrands for now.
