Yeah, as is customary at OT, the refs referral to Fergie has resulted in the pen being overturned, and a grovelling apology from ref and linesman.
God, that place is getting worse every season.
It was the right decision though and very impressive from the linesman to see it and make the ref overturn it.

Think about the riots, if Pardew would have told the day Enrique moved that it's no problem, we have Ryan Taylor and I'm sure he'll do fine in the first 11 games.

Everton was shocking, for all the possession in second half they created absolutely nothing. And their defence doesn't look as solid as normally. I doubt that they can climb the table to 7-9 like normally, more like 10-13.

I still don't see what's so great about Coloccini. He's defending moderately well on a consistent basis, he's as fit as a fiddle which is great, he's classy on the ball for a Premiership centreback - is it the entire package that is having our fans rave about him? Or that in combination with the hair/cult status?
If we're talking about pure defending, Coloccini is found wanting in a number of areas imo. His aerial clearances are s*** half the time. He rarely throws his body in an attempt to block a shot. He's pathetic at last ditch tackles. He runs out of position an awful lot to chase down a player who is posing zero threat. He's usually rooted to the ground like a tree when something unexpected happens in the box (e.g. deflection, change of direction, etc), showing very little agility. He has little to no recovery pace at all.
He's a class centreback to have, I'm not denying that, but that's for a team at our level, i.e. a mid table team performing above expectations. I don't think for a second that he's top level club/interinational material because he's nowhere near the complete defender.

Colo doesn't make last ditch tackles because his sense of positioning is so good he's already read and delt with the situation before a 'last ditch tackle' is needed. Go through Nesta and Ferdinand's career and see how many last ditch tackles they made. Not very many, because it's the sign of a desperate defender who doesn't have a footballing brain.
Coloccini's been the best centre half in the league this season and it's a pleasure to have such a classy, ball playing defender in our team.

Good news for us really. Can see Best being a fairly loyal player, but it does concern me when it looks like players can't get into their national squad when they deserve it. Potentially motivates them to find a new club, a la Jose.
I really don't see Best wanting to leave when he's playing. Maybe if he was fourth choice but we are basically as big club as he can hope for in his career. But that doesn't take anything away from Best, just that I can't see any of the "top 6" ever wanting to sign him.

Not realy the vibe I got reading there forum post-match likeThe Stoke forum makes brilliant reading...first they saying how s*** they were, how we were controlling them and 'stoking' them. Then when they finally get a 'blatant penalty', then lose a penalty which was a 'joke' down the other end...we got lucky and they deserved everything from the game!

I think they we're very down to earth and one of few other teams forums where I wasn't rolling my eyes all the time.

Whilst I'm content to disagree with some people, and get on better with others etc, I don't imagine I'd hang around if I was under the impression that absolutely everyone thought I was a gormless gob s**** with absolutely zero credibility. It just doesn't seem all that fun. Each to their own I guess

The dutch commentary is so funny, they have no idea what 'w*****' means and they picked up on the chants, Demba ba, is a w*****, is a w*****.. and every time he gets the ball, they say 'Best.. to die w*****'... and when he scored... die w***** goal!! lmfao this is hilarious
he does know what a w***** is, and said (pretty much) that he wouldn't have to explain to his audience what one is.
the dutch pronunciation of w*****, on the other hand, is f***ing hilarious. de wenker.
