Yeah I've always found the German thing of "it's January and I am announcing that I can't wait to join X (usually Bayern) in the summer, right after another 3 months of definitely giving my all for whoever the hell it is I play for now" thing really odd.

The way it was done was very powerful. Sent a shiver down my spine. Then I immediately cancelled my subscription and went onto Facebook to fume in the Proud British Patriots group.

Having watched a few Bundesliga games, I thought I preferred it with the fake crowd noise but I think it works much less well in the Premier League. Most well-attended German games, the noise of the crowd is constant, a permanent kind-of drumbeat and unless there's a goal, there's actually not that much noticeable reaction to the events on the field. English football's not like that, it's much more passive and quiet when the game's just going on with nothing much happening but then much more vociferous in reaction to anything, a tackle, a chance. The fake crowd noise doesn't work at all here, it sounds ridiculous.

Hmm I still quite like both tbh. I really like Daniel Storey and Michael Cox on Totally but almost everyone else they have on I can take or leave.

Doesn't surprise me, I wondered where the money was coming from. When Max Rushden did the Ramble Meets show, he told the story of when Totally was formed - they sprung it on the Guardian right before the season started that they were going independent, fully expecting the Guardian to panic and buy them out but they just got told to fuck off.
