    Where is this?
  3. P.S. My amateur accounting for how much Ashley paid for the club is the £130m + £100m debt paid off equals £230m
  4. Simple question, how much do you think the club is worth? The main assets of the club must be the stadium, the potential to fill it when things are going well, and our Premier League status, plus the TV revenue that brings. That was all there when Ashley paid for it. Plus of course there was the debt which (even though he underestimated it) should be added to the amount Ashley paid. However, the lack of sponsorship revenue, plus further outstanding debts relating to transfer installments mean that when Ashley purchased the club, he paid more than it was worth. So what has changed for the better since? Well supposedly the commercial arms of the club are more efficient, although that claim can't really be verified on here. But what is worse? Dwindling crowds. No manager at a difficult time to find a decent manager. The clubs best playing asset entering the final year of his contract with no sign of any motivation to stay. 10 months flirting with the possibility of relegation. An ever decreasing reputation. A large percentage of season tickets for the next three years pre-sold, question marks over where that money has gone/is going. Relative strengthening of the main competition. An increased wage bill The need to pay off at least five significant boardroom figures. In short, the club is now worth a heck of a lot less than Ashley paid for it, and it wouldn't bother me to see him make a loss. No sensible investor should pay more than £200m for the club. In fact, if they do, I'd be pretty confident that the new people were either stark raving mad, or looking to invest significantly into the playing personnel.

His ban will be until 20 October if the boardroom cocked up his registration and didn't have him registered as manager for yesterday's game.
  6. Love the disappearance of the 'FKN Love You Martins' sig.

    Who's worse?

Why the fuck do people endlessly have a go at Geremi? For the last two seasons he has been the only midfielder able to pass the ball, not to mention all of those assists.

  9. Thinking about this, there are three possibilities about the current situation: Kinnear is just as in the dark as we are about the new ownership and their plans, and made a bit of a mess of his interview. Mike Ashley's ego is too big to let KK come back even though the prospective new owners want him. Keegan's ego is too big to work for Ashley for 6-8 more weeks.
  10. It is possible Kinnear has been given an eight game contract, both as a contingency against delays, but also as part of some guaranteed financial benefit for it to be worth Kinnear's while.

This isnt Ashleys appointment. As if he's ever heard of Joe Kinnear. Ashley phoned Kinnear personally. ..and hasn't even spoken to Wise about it. He probably thinks Wise is still a player. Yep, Chris Mort clearly misunderstood Ashley when he said that he wanted Dennis Wise to direct the football from the middle and execute John Salako.

All four of his attempted managerial appointments were highly regarded at that time.

What is clear is that Mike Ashley is mentally incapable of acknowledging any football that occured after 1996.
  15. Stealing my jokes, how low can you get
  16. But the Irishman hinted that he expects Keegan to take the reins again once a takeover of the club has been sealed. "I am aware that the new owners have Kevin Keegan and possibly Alan Shearer parked around the corner," he told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I understand investors are about to buy the club, (current owner) Mike Ashley told me openly. I will be here for 6-8 games."

  18. It is all about the sponsorship at .com these days.
  19. The reality is that it is now an unwinnable situation fror everyone.
  20. The way I read it, Venables would like the job if it was long term, i.e. if the club wasn't for sale. Are you saying Ashley shouldn't go, which is what we wanted after all? Eh?! Do you need me to spell it out or maybe you could just read the interview again? That wasn't directed towards the interview, you plum. I was perplexed as to how you could assume Dave had meant he wanted Ashley to stay. He was pointing out that Ashley et al are seriously deluded with regards to their approach to football business. But you're a WUM, and that's what you do. Dave, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. You are more of a WUM than Big Tron.

    A club's soul.

Heard a rather intersesting comment from a Smoggie tonight. Basically, English clubs have a soul, but the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have sold theirs. He's very happy about how Gibson has built a club with soul, i.e. local talent playing in the PL. Despite me pointing out that half of Boro's academy are Geordies, he feels that he'd rather get relegated than Steve Gibson sell up as his club hasn't sold it's soul. Have clubs really forgotten what is important? Is the togetherness of fans and players and the shirt more important than results? Do trophies really matter?
  22. Don't see much wrong with that article other than the fact that it is saying what people don't want to hear.
  23. They need to have a club to sell at the end of the day.
  24. You'd know all about that of course.
  25. Although I'm not either overjoyed at or opposed to the appointment of Venables, imagine if he turned us down
