  1. I wouldn't want us to play like we did against Manchester United for the remaining 37 games to be honest. And why not? It was a gutsy performance, a courageous performance, and a handful of players played really well, but others were average and we lacked cutting edge. We need to retain the courage and the attitude and fitness, but we need to transfer that into a sharper brand of football. If we continue playing the same way, teams will see us off, and we won't get as many wins or points as we can.

  3. Mackems + ex-Spurs players = Newcastle win.

    England

    Awesome sig SSR
  5. It was odd that KK swapped Enrique and Zog at the last minute before Valencia.
  6. Where's that from? It was in NUFC Blog yesterday, not sure if that is the NUFC Blog article though.
  7. Considering Owen's quoted wages have increased from £80k to £120k in less than three years, I'm inclined to not believe whatever the papers have to say as it is probably a 150% exaggeration of the truth. He's probably been offered £93k (plucking out random numbers I know, but so is everyone else)
  8. Would take more than the PFA, if such a scheme was exclusive to England, good players would migrate elsewhere.
  9. I'm sure he'll be getting a proper Premier League welcome from a Bolton player on Saturday.
  10. Got around to reading this thread, seeing how the action unfolded in the forum's perspective. What is now clear is that there is one person responsible for us not taking three points. Dave. Left to right man.
  11. I think he only really showed his quality once in the game, there was a high looping ball into the box with not much pace into the area which you'd expect others to struggle to clear, Colo stood his ground perfectly underneath the ball, and produced a powerful looping header to about 35 yards out, played at a spped and angle which would make it difficult for a Manyoo player to deal with on the follow up. There were a few moments that can be put down as shaky, and the press/other fans would have had a field day had Manchester United scored, but they didn't, and he never made the same mistake twice, it was clear that he had been given a real baptism of fire, and the longer the game went on, the better he looked.
  12. The vital football thing has been taken from a Henry Winter article in the Telegraph.
  13. Given - 9 - commanded his area at times very well, and produced some world class saves. Beye - 6 - Not pulling up trees like he did last time. Giggs probably won that battle today. Taylor - 9 - One of the best, if not the best game in Taylor's career. Shame he wasn't on the pitch when they scored. Coloccini - 7 - Looked a little shaky to start, but really settled into the game in the second half. Makes defending look easy. N'Zogbia - 4 - Thank goodness he was up against Fletcher and not Ronaldo. Despite this, he let Fletcher score, almost an identical marking error to the one he made preseason. Milner - 6 - Can't pass to save his life, but made an important contribution when we were defending. Butt - 7 - See Milner, but better defensively. Guthrie - 7 - Did a good job, and released the ball very well time and time again. Gutierrez - 9 - If a manager wants a winger to perform exceptionally versus Manchester United, they'll make the player study Jonas on tape from now on. Duff - 6 - Struggled to get involved due to the nature of the game, but looked sharp. Martins - 7 - Our best goal threat and scored. While other strikers are injured however, he needs to be more disciplined off the ball in open play.

    The Captaincy

Don't think leadership is the be all and end all of captaincy to be honest. Giving Beye the armband wont make much difference one way or the other.
  15. Fuck, Jaaskelainen, the only one of my players who was looking like getting a good score, was my captain
  16. Hope not, Zog at left back, Milner right wing, Duff left wing. That what you're hoping for or what the bibs would indicate? Cos if N'Zogbia plays full back at Old Trafford then we'll get bummed. What the bibs would indicate, but they meant nowt under Keegan last season, plus Jonas and Smith with bibs leaves it looking like it wasn't 11vs11, unless Keegan is planning a surprise Owen return.
  17. Hope not, Zog at left back, Milner right wing, Duff left wing.
  18. Hope so, there is no doubt that he is a class act when fit. Bit odd though that Viduka is training with the players and Owen isn't.
  19. At least that. Well done. Go to wherever you can buy stickers in Chicago, buy yourself a gold star, and stick it on your chest.
  20. That's not it, but it might explain it.
