Gordon this season was reminiscent of Sissoko and Wijnaldum during the relegation season. I also don’t think we’d have won the League Cup had he been available for selection. I also felt for a while that when he is in one of his huffs it brings the team down with him. For that reason I wanted him gone last summer. He is a really good player, was a success here, we made a profit and wish him well. But I am glad he has gone.

it truly is. By selling Wilson and Willock when they had just been integral to our 4th place in 2023 and then securing a striker probably would have saved us from selling Anderson and then this summer we’d had been less desperate about the new striker and held a much stronger bargaining position
