  1. Yeah he did.

"Finished as a top class centre forward, on the way down as a player" or something like that.

Wasn't a recent quote either and I'm fucked if I can find it.

Sorry, perhaps that means "he's shit" in some obtuse dialect of the moron language, but not in normal English.

  2. Did he?

"Unless we get a replay, I probably won't ever play against Shearer again," said the Norwegian defender.

"I will miss that because we have had some really good battles over the years.

"I have enjoyed playing against him because it is always a real challenge, the sort you look forward to as a player."

Shearer began his career with Southampton some 18 years ago, but Lundekvam knows better than to expect any favours from a man who is desperate to cap his career on Tyneside with some silverware.

"Shearer has had an unbelievable career," added Lundekvam. "His strength and power and quality in the air make him very difficult to handle.

"He is a master at sniffing out where to be. He is a very clever player. He is forceful and he knows all the tricks.

"But he does not just dish it out, he takes it too, and there is much more to him than that. He is a very good footballer with a clever brain and he only needs half a yard to punish you.

"You cannot let your concentration drop for a second because he will be on to anything in a flash."

  3. Claus Lundekvam admitting to years of drug and alcohol abuse on Norwegian TV2. That would explain Gordon Strachan's quote about him: “He was carried off at Leicester and someone asked me if he was unconscious. I didn’t have a clue. That’s what he’s always like.”

  4. This seasons improved players as in Kadar, Carroll, Guthrie, Colo. Jose & Shola... is that down to us being in a lower league OR is it down to Hughton?

Both, but most of them are young and still learning, and Colo has had more time to adapt to the English game. As for Shola, he's now a senior player with no Shearer, Owen, Martins or Viduka ahead of him, which might have given him a bit more confidence. Hughton has no doubt done wonders for the overall team spirit, though.

  5. Show who? Laughing stock to who?

Fuck public perception, big decisions are there to be made.

How about the perception among managers? Ashley'll be the one who sacked Sam Allardyce after giving him terrible support in the transfer market (postponing decisions forever), forced out club legend Kevin Keegan after not supporting him in the transfer market, hired an Irishman with unwashed hair, then made a profit in the transfer market with the club in a relegation battle, then sold everything that could walk during the next transfer window and only hired Chris Hughton when the transfer window was closed.

And now you think it would be a wise idea -- fuck public perception -- to sack a manager who has done a good job considering the circumstances, so that Ashley could hire ... oh, Moronho? Who the fuck would want to work for the guy, apart from some absolute moron who spends all his time on football messageboards?

  6. Duff's problem here was never lack of motivation. He was always willing to get the ball, and then ... delivering a cross to a static midget who's marked by two defenders? no, better track back and pass the ball into midfield. Or cross to thin air, like James Milner. The problem was a general lack of movement, to a degree due to a lack of pace in midfield.

Nevertheless, Duff wasn't needed, and he was bad for N'Zogbia's development, and also much slower.

  7. I'd not buy Duff and save £5M on transfer fees and £60K a week. Then I'd sell Fatty Pattison so that I wouldn't have to use him in an injury situation. I'd invest some of the money in a big TV and show the team highlights of Duff's game every week, letting them know that I could have bought him but oh look how shit he is. This would boost the team's morale so much that further transfers would be unnecessary, and then I'd spend the rest of the transfer budget on beer.
