I'm mainly a lurker, but had to log on to ask this question. For some baffling reason, I was shopping in tescos today and out of nowhere, a Barry Venison (might not have even been him) sprang to my mind, where he was about 25 yards out, the ball came bobbling to him from behind, he turned with the ball, and boshed it in with his right boot, into the bottom right hand corner. Did this event actually happen? If not, why am I inventing goals in my own mind from Barry fucking Venison?
I think this is worthy of its own thread.
According to Wikipedia, Venison scored only 4 goals in his career, one of them for Newcastle:
Unfortunately, this leads to a dead link, but searching for Barry Venison Villa at Youtube shows that it was indeed a screamer, but the ball did not come bobbing from behind. You're either making up goals, or you are a Mackem.Venison only scored one goal for the Magpies but he regards it as being the best goal he's ever scored; it was, in his words, "a 20-yard screamer" against Aston Villa at a packed St James' Park. -
It's good that he's scoring, as long as we concede more than we score. Gives him some confidence and an easier start for the next manager.

lets hope douglas, and wullie, are right.

He's doing a great job destabilising Pardew's position.

When was the last time we came from behind and won?

I'm so close to just straight up calling zicomartin the c-word. So close. Fuck. Scum of the earth conspiracy theorist motherfuckers. Fuck. So angry.
The c-word? Charlatan? It's not libellous.
-
I'm sure zicomartin's utterly scientific facts are only being repressed by all credible journals due to their refusal to publish anything in the logically required one-sentence-per-paragraph format.

Cardiff sack Solskjær.
Not worthy of a thread? Worthy of a pint!

Riviere is isolated but also looks out of his depth imo.
Should have kept Shola
A true leader, Shola. Makes everyone else look competent.

This guy up front, is it pronounced Pell-a? Or just simply "Pell" as Lowes is calling him. Because Pell sounds stupid.
Italian pronunciation: [ɡratˈtsjano pelˈlɛ], according to Wikipedia.

Don't give a fuck. Nothing can be as bad as this utter cunt.
That's unfair to Joe Fucking Kinnear.

A 15-year old being the MotM on his debut isn't worthy of a comment now?
Nah, he looks like a great prospect. I was directing my sarcasm towards the Norwegian national team. Even if the kid turns out to be the next Pirlo, Norway will still be shit for the next eternity and half.
-
That 15-year old starts for us tonight.
Best player on the pitch.
Which raises the question: So what?
-
Shola's been good. That usually means he's about to get injured.
-
Mildly entertaining, this, even without Shola.
-
I thought England were pretty good. Loads of pace, creating a few chances when countering. I also think Pirlo is the coolest footballer on the planet, but that's hardly controversial.

Can Liverpool score 13 on Sunday?
They'll score nine. You can't score more than that.
-
Perhaps an attempt at irony?

Not compared to the traditionally bigger clubs (Rosenborg, Vålerenga and Brann). More money than most og the rest though, but not visible in his buys. Best transfers through his time there are Joshua Gatt, Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Møller Dæhli, and all were on frees. Sugar daddy pulled the plug after his flirt with Villa though.
He probably had more to spend than Brann. Not that I've bothered checking. However, I consider his most impressive feat was turning it around after Molde were absolutely shit at the beginning of the 2013 season, languishing at the bottom of the table for quite some time, and then finishing fifth or sixth or whatever after that miserable start.
Of course, most managers would have been sacked long before he turned it around, so it might be less impressive than it seems.
-
Better than expected. Mid-table mediocrity.

How many more fouls does Austin have to make before a yellow?
As many as it takes.
-
Ashley probably just hired Kinnear to force Pardew to resign, so he wouldn't have to pay up his ridiculous contract. Then, when Kinnear hires himself as manager, he's sacked for some legal technicality, and Ashley brings in some other cockney.

I am. You have the best league in the world domestically. Some of the best international managers and coaches have come to work in your country. The facilities are top notch everywhere in the country. You have a fairly big population and football is without doubt the number 1 sport. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that a country like Norway, or even Holland, should be taking the piss out of you.
I read something the other day about why Norway's youth team is doing so well -- which was a surprise to me, as I don't follow it closely. Or at all. The claim was that it's due to the economic crisis, which for some reason struck Norwegian football hard (which is true), despite the fact that the overall economy is doing spectacularly well compared to the rest of Europe. The result is that instead of clubs bringing in foreign mercenaries looking for a stepping stone toward the bigger leagues, they have to rely on their own youth development.
I don't think the same applies to England. Good English players are still more expensive than foreign players, especially at premier league level. Just look at NUFC. Although youth development was one of Ashley's stated goals, the players are mostly French.

Ketsbaia, Solskjær or Martinez.
Solskjær?!
Oh, right, that's an old comment.
