  1. I'll reiterate, we underrate Parker a lot due to our experience with him.

Granted, he's definitely not the best player in the Premiership. Just a pretty good player who's worth is being well overinflated because he's probably the best-performing English midfielder in the league.

Grossly underrated here simply because the team had no form and coherence whatsoever. Like James Milner (and Enrique, in his early days), he looked worse simply because the other players would run into hiding when he got the ball.

Edit: So yeah, it's the "looks good because of the shite around him" argument in reverse.

  2. exactly. For that reason I`d put us 20th in terms of form right now. Apathy indeed.

Is Steve Bruce a bit Souness-like in that he sometimes can manage to string together a series of wins, making people believe the club has turned the corner, only to head into an equally long losing streak? He needs to sign a really big name to stop the stagnation, someone like Michael Owen.

  3. Molde lost 0-3 to some newly promoted team in their first game under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Good headline: "Ole Gunnars feilskjær" ("Ole Gunnar's mistake"). Hope to see many variations on it.

  4. how much would any new owner be able to spend with the new financial regulations coming in ?

As much as he likes. They apply only to entry into UEFA competitions.

Besides, rules don't apply to rich clubs.

  5. For starters, I'll name a woman as general secretary, FIFA's most powerful appointed position.

For me, it fell down here.

Employing a women just because she's a women is no less sex discrimination than avoiding female employment in the first place..

Really? You would only have a point if that was the sole qualification needed. Besides, when appointing women for the sake of appointing more women, you simply have to appoint women, and not men. This is about the organisation itself, not some silly "equal opportunities" action. There's no irony to it, no more than it would be for Mike Ashley to appoint someone with some knowledge of football as chairman. (Actually, come to think of it -- that would be ironic.)

  6. It's a good price for a decent striker, but fact is he was the only decent striker at the club. The other half-decent one is now out for some time with a fractured jaw, and we have to rely on championship quality strikers, at best. It was a position that needed strengthening, and instead they chose  money and potential relegation.
