Diversification and allocation of risk. Getting the Saudi brand(s) out there. Friendly competition with Man City given ownership. Fuck off Qatar competition with Paris if possible too. Fun vanity investment for the sov wealth fund. Al Rhum is a massive sports fan and likely massive reason this is still kicking around.

Good kits imo. Saint Max def had his hand in the 3rd kit.

All the kits aren’t bad. The away and third would look decent in a video game

I don’t know what people expect about transactions these days but the Unicorn owner that some may seek won’t be able to buy this club at the current discount to pre covid values and pump 2-3x purchase price in equity to get the club functioning properly via the needed staffing, faculties upgrades. Further clubs likely need additional support until fans return and match day revenues return. We literally had one who would have the cash to turn us on the offensive and take advantage of cash flow burn. That true faith article is so stupid to me because it doesn’t really apply the transaction landscape at all.

That’s fair enough but the PL also need to accept by bundling their rights for the MENA region, it is also unreasonable to expect a nation to accept an offshoot of Al Jazeera into their country. Yes there’s no excusing the piracy and let’s be honest we all know their guilty of that. However, say the NFL bundled the rights for Europe and a Russian broadcaster got the rights, would it be reasonable for U.K. to say where not allowing them to broadcast in our space, I would suggest yes it would. If I’m not mistaken there is something in test that allows for corrective action to be taken, they have introduced new anti piracy measures, and it will be interesting to see how serious they are about this when there is no legal way of watching the PL. I would have loved them to have allowed bein to broadcast to get this through, however either it was just to big of an ask for them, or they genuinely miscalculated and thought they could buy the rights. I agree on MENA. Kanji has brought it up, too. Just seems like the league were asking for it having a politically volatile region grouped together for rights purchases while also allowing nation states to purchase football clubs. They've created their own issue and now it's on them to deal with it not ignore the wellbeing of one of their shareholding clubs.

Yeap, the only valid reason is for legal reasons. They seem to be a bit of a incompetent organisation tbh. Aye but even saying that would be so much better than doing nothing and just ignoring it. Just something like "We understand the annoyance of Newcastle. Unfortunately for legal reasons we cannot discuss the case at the moment. We apologise for the inconvenience" Exactly, it just shows a total lack of respect, which is the most frustrating thing of all IMO.

Too much of a bent group of cowards to even do that. I may not agree with them but I’d have more respect for the process if they stood behind their decision and made a statement. The silence since last week just shows the level of respect they have for football supporters and the general public. Just goes to show the test for the league is really for their own self interests and nothing to do with club itself or fans.

The league only cares about its friends. They certainly do not care or respect any of the Newcastle United supporters or the club itself. They don’t give a shit about the region. They don’t give a shit about any of it. So while many of you can go and sit on your mighty horses and say the Pif bid was flawed and etc etc etc just remember at the very bare bones of it they didn’t give a single fuck about any of us. So whether you wanted PIF or not, they didn’t reject the takeover on morality and say the people of Newcastle should not have their club in the hands of XYZ who committed xyz, they just sat on it for 17 weeks and made 0 decision. They didn’t respect our angst or frustrations to bloody comment on it yet. They have done nothing. A lack or transparency and respect that is absolutely due. It’s grossly negligent behavior.

What’s bollocks is the league requesting the entire KSA or MBS himself be named as director and dismissing any and all compromises (PIF named as director, letter from the kingdom assuring no meddling). Those are such unreasonable requests in an approval process and shows clearly how angled and bent this thing was. Something clearly changed internally at the league and I hope it comes to light and those fuckers get what they deserve. Even if they just flat out rejected it we’d have some sort of actual process. Sitting on it for 17 weeks and changing terms and trying force someone into a box is not how you operate a business. It’s not how you negotiate in good faith. the test itself is not fit for purpose, it was stalled indefinitely to protect the league board’s friends and partners and not the club and never its fans. Mike Ashley as owner of the member club should be seething as he found a cash rich buyer side who had no financing contingencies willing to invest money into the club and boost economy of the region and the league fucked him. He should be preparing legal action ASAP.

The league is corrupt and rotten to the bloody core. still raging over this and not sure I’ll ever get over it. We finally had it - we finally had a buyer ready to free us from Ashley and Ashley finally agreed to it - we had a buyer paying all cash and wanted to invest enormous sums in the club and region in this global pandemic. There was going to be job and wealth creation. We finally had it ffs and some group of people and a dozen clubs stopped it for their own self interests. It’s sickening man. What’s the point in football if this is really what it all boils down to?
