  1. it's the best of our GK tops
  2. Insane that we're playing a Bentelab over Matty and Krafth over Watts. Same goes for Lazaro not starting either.
  3. Should be Watts and Fede at CB. Lazaro in one of the wide positions. FFS.
  4. Just hope it’s a decent looking kit I guess. Prior 3 home shirts under Rafa were good. The one posted above was my favorite under Puma.
  5. Annoying, but hopefully better deals can be put into place once this does get approved by the league.
  6. 1) Bein isnt in a trade war. 2) To me that sounds like the opposite of a loophole, it would be a loophole is Bein decided not to broadcast in KSA. There's no way a country can decide to pull out of deal they have no part in and start negotiating their own. First PL take a stand on piracy to protect the rights and then make a complete mockery of the rights by selling them twice to one country? Nope. If the World Trade Org is getting involved, how is the BeIn issue not a trade war? Does the diplomatic and trade (economic) war between the 2 nations not include the Qatari business known as BeIn sports? How is that not a trade war? You realize restricting one nation from doing business in another falls into that category right? What am I missing here?
  7. KSA is basically in a trade war with Qatar. The league has sold broadcasting rights to an entire region to one company who is in a trade war with multiple nations in said region. The largest nation in said region has just banned them from doing business in their country and are “pulling out” of said agreement. That’s the loophole some are alluding to in terms of KSA looking to arrange their own rights. In any case, KSA thru PIF have never been all about buying the club to gracefully show their people Newcastle United and the PL. This has always been a way to invest large sums of money via PIF into sport and potentially into the region as a way build the sovereign wealth fund, diversify from oil, and probably ego investment competition over the long term against rivals, and of course sports washing / Vision 2030. Imo it’s prob all fueled through PIF governor and MBS being massive sport fans, Legit country war/rivalry with Qatar and jealousy / friendlyish competition with Sheikh Mansour. Finally if it all pays off it’s an incredibly insane IRR / ROI proposition. No doubt in my mind.
  8. Yep. Allowing PIF to work with the gov to handle the piracy and tv rights issues without a takeover going about in the background.
  9. I imagine they're not in that camp anymore. Yeah I was personally in the camp, but wasn't looking to bring anyone in, in fact the opposite. Someone said earlier they can't imagine what approved looks like. I'm there. After all this it seems like imagining dragons riding the skies and unicorns grazing in the back garden. i'm still in team Dokko!
  10. The subs thing is interesting, rather it stay at 3 but if we’re doing this in the view of health and safety fair enough. Don’t care at all about water breaks. Prob makes sense to keep it tbh.
  11. I’m still in the camp of Gorilla and Dokko that it’s happening today.
  12. From Bloomberg... U.S. Media Boss Preps Charm Offensive for Newcastle United Bid By David Hellier July 16, 2020, 2:16 PM EDT American businessman Henry Mauriss is preparing a charm offensive in the U.K. as he pushes ahead with his rival offer for Newcastle United Football Club, according to people familiar with the matter. Mauriss is discussing hiring a public relations adviser to help sell the merits of his proposal to acquire the soccer team, the people said, asking not to be identified as discussions are private. He’s seeking to raise the profile of his bid with Premier League officials and Newcastle United supporters, according to one of the people. The U.S. investor, who is chief executive officer of media group ClearTV, isn’t a well-known figure in Britain. He has already met Newcastle United’s billionaire owner Mike Ashley to discuss his bid, the people said. Mauriss is prepared to offer 350 million pounds ($441 million) for the team, according to one person. That would top the 300 million-pound proposal from a consortium of investors led by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, which Ashley accepted earlier this year. While Newcastle United fans have been supportive of the Saudi bid, hopeful that it will provide the surest way to inject funds into the club, there’s no certainty that deal will go through. The Premier League, which has the final say on takeovers of the U.K.’s top teams, has spent months deliberating the suitability of the proposed new owners. Mauriss didn’t answer calls seeking comment. Representatives for Ashley did not respond to requests for comment by phone and text message. A representative for the Saudi-led consortium declined to comment. Newcastle is one of the U.K.’s best-supported teams, regularly drawing crowds of more than 50,000 to its stadium in northeast England. Ashley has proven a divisive figure for its supporters during his 13 years in charge. Angered by perceived mismanagement, fans staged boycotts and protests at home games prior to the coronavirus lockdown and will expect any new owners to invest in players to make the club more competitive. Newcastle has not won a major trophy for more than 50 years. The consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund also includes British businesswoman Amanda Staveley and billionaire brothers David and Simon Reuben.
