Oh, and adding to that, tons of people from Asia especially Bangladesh and India there supporting either Argentina or Brazil. Sat among some of the Brazil Fans of Kerala at one of the games. Unheard of in Europe, but in India they either support Manchester United, Argentina or Brazil

Argentinian fan groups are basically run as organized crime cartels. In addition they have a lot of influence with the footballing federation, so unlike Brazil where mostly the upper middle class can afford it, they get financial support from the federation and have money themselves from organized crimes. Join fans from crazy fanbases and you get what Argentina have, amazing atmosphere but also responsible for the only fights among fans at the WC right (was told there were a lot of fights between Argentinian fans and Mexican fans during that game). I know Argentinian government were trying to stop them from travelling to the WC, but not sure how effective that was. At Heathrow boarding the plane, 12 british police officers arrived and started only questioning Argentinian fans (or people with Argentinian shirts/shorts) and looking their passports up on their computer.

In terms of control, I meant as in the way the game was being played. Argentina had one shot on goal in 45 minutes of football. Neither side were being threatened. As for Argentinas chances, maybe I’n clouded by that last ditch chance by Kuol, but didn’t they all come after the 2-1 goal? As Australia were sending players forward? In normal circumstances, Argentina created what? 1 maximum 2 chances over 75minutes of football against Australia?

Not sure how you can call it comfortable when they almost conceded in the last minute. First half Australia (a terrible side btw) had control of the game for large parts. Then came the Messi magic and a howler by the goalkeeper in the second half. Furthermore, Argentina created plenty at 2-1 as Australia threw defenders up top, but not before that. Australia had two great chances to tie it as well. Thought Argentina looked shaky tbh.

Was really good at the Copa America last year. Had had a terrible WC this far, but no idea what’s happening to Argentina right now.

Thought he was shit personally. Misplaced so so many passes, and only showed up in the last 10-15 when the game became a fight. Also, Lisandro Martinez might be better than Romero as well.

Not really. Players actually tried to cancel the tournament and were arguing in refusing to play. Were basically forced to play without crowds as well.
