  1. It's not so much "miracle worker", but the influence Ferguson had over that club was unparalleled, it's impossible to measure in psychological terms the drop off that will have occurred with his departure. Moyes may have been the wrong man simply because he wasn't a big enough name, it's surely the hardest act to follow in football? I've seen them a fair bit this season and the only time they've hit the heights was Fulham (a), really.
  2. I would have gladly had him here in the summer, like. Still think Fergie knew what he was doing when he bailed as well.
  3. Wasn't that "Keegan side" badly depleted that day? Checked to satisfy my curiosity: Harper; Beye, Taylor, Faye, Enrique; Smith, Butt, N'Zogbia; Owen, Duff, Carroll. Forster, Cacapa, Ramage, Tozer and Lua Lua on the bench. I make that just the 5 first team players missing from his favoured selection during that run, but carry on.

  5. Not at all, probably just wants to annoy as many people as possible because someone called him a fat prick at the match once. I have absolutely no idea why we're stockpiling profit and not investing in anything (bar training ground). It's annoying me. Two words: war chest.

    Paul Gascoigne

I'm not convinced Barnes and Gascoigne played in those positions. Mind I was 3 at the time.
  8. Jealousy doesn't look good on you Rich. I was right about Moyes tanking majorly too! Face it, I'm a football oracle I'll be keeping a close eye on any further predictions you make!
  9. UV posted that a few pages back, from one of the recent Fan Forums. Cheers, I had a feeling that the cabaye money would go towards that but fair enough. I'd also forgotten about that bit, which is worth mentioning.

  11. Give it a few weeks yet, they were shaky as fuck against Swansea (fans and players alike).
  12. Yeah 'cos you're always so unerringly accurate
  13. I thought he had started doing this, but then the current accounts refer to the £129m loan again. So who knows? This is wrong, sorry. Original loan was £111m, he put an extra £29m in and wanted that bit back as far as I remember. Took £11m last time.

    Sunderland

Also proper hoops Ashley and Pardew, so work that one out.
  16. Improved prize money compared to last year, when we pip Southampton to the league. So potentially £6m extra there if we stay top of the league.

    Benwell proper hates the Mackems.
  18. Pewa sowa grapes from Parky, nowt more. Could say that sort of guff about anyone in any given season.
  19. So what's to factor in by this time next year then? -New TV money -Wonga deal -Other minor commercial partnerships that have emerged -Sales of Perch, Inman and Cabaye -Harper and Simpson leaving on frees -Gosling/Gutierrez leaving on loan for a full season between them -Remy and de Jong coming in on loans -Kinnear's contract -Less matchday revenue due to less home matches Any significant new contracts in the past year? Can only think of smaller ones like Dummett and Newton.
  20. It is a totally shit situation to be in. I personally cut all monetary ties to the club this summer, cancelling NUFC TV and the membership. Haven't been to a game this season despite plenty of free ticket offers and won't be going to one until either the manager goes or the ownership changes. I still watch every match by whatever means I can, though often not live.
  21. He likes to keep it interesting.
  22. Just to embellish instead of being an arse, I tried to think of the team I've seen this season who play with a hell of a lot of width and swap wingers the most, which is probably West Ham: http://i.imgur.com/I3Vft1k.png This is from their 2-0 win over Norwich. 7 is Jarvis, 23 is Downing (between Cole and Nolan). My point is that it's too crude a measure for me, even if I agree with your general sentiment about shape at times. You could look at that and say they were far too narrow, but they obviously weren't.
