I thought Keegan hadnt watched a game from the past 3 years? He hasn't seen one in the flesh, he'll still have been watching on TV.
-
Ya. He won't last 5 minutes up there. why not? He`ll probably score a hatful of goals in that mickey mouse league Mouse in the body of a bull. Not got the heart to take a kicking. It's strange that mind. When we played Heerenveen in the UEFA a few seasons back, the Radio Newcastle commentators kept going on about how Samaras played as though he was looking for a fight, i.e. more interested in bashing into people and putting himself about than playing football. I thought he'd do far better at Man City than he has.

"In the know" Although most ITK's usually aren't.

Looks good from what we can read there. Nay worries. Parky doing his usual, building it all up before it comes crashing down into doom and gloom in a few months. You are a human big dipper, my son It's difficult, but having no expectations (or trying to have as few as possible) makes for a much easier (albeit less exciting) life supporting this club.
-
They've even got a couple of fairly decent articles about it in tomorrow's paper as well. Amazed. Even a broken watch is right twice a day, like...
-
Hard to say really because who will have the say as to whether a player is signed, Wise? Vetere? An agreement between the two? Does Keegan have any input? The build seems to be very similar to Spurs, it's who has an input and who makes the decisions where it may vary. Aye, we might let our manager have the final say! At least I'd hope so, especially as pertains to first team players.
-
That's Jimenez' job, not Wise's, apparently. I suppose it'll be more of a team thing though, and that Keegan will be involved if necessary. I would imagine that KK will have the final say on all players/will be involved in negotiations if possible, and that he'll have more or less full say over the coaches. At least you'd hope this to be the case. The only way this works is if people work within their roles, keep the ego in check, and work together. There is a lot that can go wrong (see Spurs with Jol), but there's also a lot of positive that can be done. Never boring here, as they say. Love it. PS: I've updated the first post as well, because George Caulkin has written another article about this in the Times.

As long as Keegan is happy with it and was aware of the plans before he signed (which he really must have been), then I find this sort of thing almost as exciting as the new manager himself. If Special K gets his own coaching team in around him to focus purely on the players we currently have, and we ally this with Allardyce's new network of scouts (if they're wanted) and the new set-up then it's more moves in the right direction. Like I've said, it doesn't mean we'll necessarily get any better, we still might not win owt, but at least we're growing with the times.
-
I also think that Ashley wanted to do this when he first took over the club, but it wasn't wanted by Sam Allardyce, and so the owner relented. It was mooted at the time in a fair few quarters that they were hoping to bring a DOF in, but it didn't seem to sit well with Allardyce.
-
Thought this was worthy of its own thread, because it does represent another extremely important change in the club philosophy. We're bringing in a DOF (General Manager) in Dennis Wise, a brand new head scout from Real Madrid as our technical director (who speaks fluent Italian and Spanish) in Jeff Vetere and the man who helped take Juande Ramos to Tottenham (who is also fluent in Spanish) in Tony Jimenez, who will be our new "vice president". It's massive, really, when you sit and think about it and there are a lot of positive vibes in that Times article (if all true, of course.) These are more of the sorts of changes that many of us had hoped that Mort and Ashley would bring. Fresh thinking, keeping up with the Jones' and all that. Everyone happy enough?

Surely this set-up represents some of the most forward thinking we've seen at this club for a long while? Whether it will be a success or not is obviously impossible to say, but at least we seem to be moving with the times here. No pun intended.

Enrique is probably injured. I meant Arsenal. Playing twice at the Emirates in 4 days has narked me.
-
Same team again, quite probably the same result as well.
-
why though? we dont even know what job he has been given, could be tea boy...i still think people would moan even if thats what his role was. I think it is a very good appointment. If memory serves me right last time Keegan was here he put all his efforts into the first team. The reserve team and the academy were neglected. This appointment will be for Denis to look after anything not first team related which will let Keegan concentrate on the first team again and have someone with a bit of gumption manage the rest for him. I think it will work out quite nicely. This is what I'm hoping for as well and it's how I assume the set-up will work. I do concede that Dennis Wise seems a very odd choice for such a role, but I suppose only time will tell.

We might not see the most successful window ever, but we'd probably see the most numerous, which would undoubtedly please some short-sighted people on here. As for the avatar, I'll change it as soon as I can merge KK's face onto my old Scrubs one! Hopefully this weekend.

It's a bit different now that half the league have billionaire owners, not to mention a fair few foreign clubs who have more money than ever before as well. Chelsea were the first, it's a completely different ball game now. I don't disagree that we need some high quality players, but I think it's asking a lot to get players of world-class reputation in.
-
Surely a fine example of consistency? People are saying we'll get relegated, but then challenge for the Championship trophy. Sounds fair to me.
-
But he's not foreign. *Grumble grumble, wah wah, boo hoo*. (Not aimed at you) Sounds foreign like, and some idiots might just assume he is, so this could be win-win.
-
Agreed. You always talk sense.
-
No way is he a centre-midfielder though, left-wing all the way please.

Would the likes of McClaren and Pearce accept a step back from top-level manager to assistant though? I've no idea. I was just bemused by the vitriol towards Pearce. Some people seem to think that the manager's assistant has to be Mourinho or Lippi. We've already got Cox and Terry Mac providing support and cheerleading. If Keegan is going to bring in another body, it would make more sense to have someone with some tactical savvy, not something I would associate with Pearce. Still it's onlky Alan Oliver whose linking us so hopefully it's bullshit. We don't do tactics now, man. Don't worry about it.

People need to step back, take a chill pill, and just see where the tide takes us.
