Probably easier to be likeable when you’re winning constantly like.
TBH to the non-Manchester City fan it’s probably harder.

Ekitike having to play would be some fucking WWE-level plot twist tho

A strange feeling to win 8-0 without even playing that well.
I was expecting Sheffield as a newly promoted side to put in a spirited performance, but they lost heart completely.
You can’t win 8-0 without playing well, surely? We were magnificent. Tightish until we scored and then we pummelled them.

Very welI done - a really characterful comeback week for him. Great work

Wtf why they got the third shirt on? That was said to be the europe away shirt was it not?
To advertise it to generate sales.

I don’t think Anderson is quite there but he does seem to have the ability to create a chance or shot from nothing. Quick feet, good eye for a first time pass. Don’t think he’s a CM.

It’s always been Les Lerdinand in my mind.

So it's a must win game then.
No; the poster clearly uses the word “should”. “Should” has a different meaning to “must”.

6 points behind 5th place right now, possibly 8-9 if we don't win.
This game absolutely is a must win as much as some people want to act like it isn't. Hell, anything less than 3 points against a newly promoted side with 1 point isn't a good result anyway.
We've got a very nice stretch of PL games we need to take advantage of, especially after 3 points in our first 4 games (which were very tough).
We'll win it by a couple of goals and our midfield will finally look like clicking a bit with some confidence!
It’s completely not a must win in any regard.
-
Calling it a must win is tantamount to publicly declaring your own stupidity. It would be nice for a good, commanding performance but we're new to this CL/PL turnaround. Many teams as good as / better than us have fallen foul.

It’s fucking massive for a start, the positioning of the ground makes it very intimidating on approach. Inside is similar, it’s just huge.
the Milan fans do a great job of intimidating players, the Curza Sud Rosso is constantly going in a way English grounds aren’t.
when we attacked, they had someone on a microphone or something making a tone that’s canny off putting, all the ground joins in.
beat away ground I’ve been to by a mile.I love that - wish we’d do it more at SJP. We’re great when on song or sometimes when steel required but a consistent hostile environment at the opposition would be unique and really useful.

Milan were nowhere near as bad as some of our more arrogant fans were expecting. Respected posters were poo-pooing their players on the basis of a freak result in the weekend derby.
A lot of it probably just looking for reasons for optimism?

What's solid about poor finishing? They should've had atleast two goals and that's been stingy on my part.
Sure, some luck involved too. Was just saying I think we’re obviously somewhat out of nick and are trying to focus on solidity and the basics, and results of last 2 games in those circumstances show a good, well-coached side. But yes, also somewhat lucky tonight. Proud as punch nonetheless.

Fucking brilliant day in Milan, capped off by a really positive performance, barring some sloppy nervous play in the first half.
Opening 10 mins we were great, for about 20 mins after that it was very tough, and then after that I thought we played really well considering the size of the task.
The San Siro, in person, is a really fucking intimidating place to play, which I’d say significantly affected our play in the first half.
The second half was a tremendous away performance at one of the hardest stadiums in the world.
Very very proud of the lads. What a day!
What is intimidating about it? Genuine question, just interested to know

Sign of a good team is winning and keeping clean sheets when not playing well. Great result in our current context. If we aren’t clicking then we can at least be solid and grind out results. Good coaching.

Murphy will be playing because he offers the best cover against Hernandez I guess. Weird one from the perspective of link-up with Isak, which I think Almiron would be better for.

What was the smoke / chemical like fumes in the second half about? Half expected to see a major incident outside SJP.
Think it’s usually for first time lights come on after a while.

Burn is the latest groupthink dislike button. He was somewhere between fine and good.

Would be an empty-ass stadium considering referee, diving, cynical fouling...

With Trippier having played a fully 90 on Tuesday, Miggy, Bruno and Joelinton having come back from South America, wouldn't be surprised if there was a few changes for this one, especially with the Champions League game next week. Assuming Tonali and Anderson are fit, think id go for:
Pope
Livramento. Schar. Botman. Burn
Tonali. Bruno. Anderson
Gordon. Barnes
Wilson
It wouldn't happen but in theory take Burn out for Hall and I think that's a side that will pass and move you to death.
