  1. If you've seen the new Wolverine, that bit where he discovers the insect attached to his heart sapping his healing powers was the perfect reflection of what it feels like having him as owner.

If he doesn't die within a decade social Darwinism has failed me.

  2. We're just posturing tbh.

Perish the thought we'd be doing something constructive to actively strengthen the squad. Let's just posture and play the game out.

Not a pop at you btw.

As Dave pointed out earlier, when his investment is in peril we are able to pull of five signings inside a week. Yet, despite all the bravado in early summer, here we are again on the eve of the start of our Premiership campaign with not a first team signing in sight trying to be clever to get the best possible deal financially. At best it is incompetence, at worst it is gross negligence. My fear is it's the latter.

It's a completely deliberate financial ploy by the chairman to make as much with as little as he possibly can; so you're wrong.

  3. It would be even mildly bearable if we did a 'moneyball' and actually searched for and signed lots of undervalued players based on overrated/ill-conceived notions. But it's just a gluttonous millionaire, with not an ounce of respect/feeling for the club/region, who wants as much as he can for as little as he can plausibly put in. I don't get how

people can bat on about 'not getting ripped off', 'balancing the books' and being financially sound! It's for

fuck all to do with a well thought-out economic model; it's a man who makes money by spending little, hoping to squeeze everything out of what he has, and then selling as soon as the most profit available at that point in time is available.

We're just a business for the profit of Mike Ashley and whoever else invested/knows him and got a job. To think otherwise is ignorance on a level befitting Kinnear the Oxford Collins.

  4. This is the right stance if true, they've rejected a very decent offer and are simply trying to take us for a ride because they want as much as possible with their situation. I don't think anyone else will match our price between now and the end of the window and they'll come back.

In the meantime, we#ll play th eopening 3/4 fixtures of the season with Shola Ameobi netting 0 goals and 2 injuries, giving a 6-12 point headstart to other teams.

If anyone's surprised they only have themselves to blame.

  5. While most people would be happy if we signed say, two from Remy, Gomis or Bent it's not as if these are real top of the range strikers, so there shouldn't really be that much of a problem in getting their signatures on a contract. What I mean by that is that while they area all quality forwards, the CL clubs for the most part usually set their sights higher so we should be in a good position to push through the deals if we are determined enough. The competiton for their services isn't going to be that stiff so there really isn't much excuse for not having a decent forward line come the start of the season.

There is a problem: Joe Kinnear. Think of transfer activity as a clean pair of y-fronts and think of him as the skidmark which prevents you feeling free to take your trousers off.

  6. If JFK really wants to be manager and expects to take over when Pardew goes, it's not in his interest to help him then.  Could he really be that manupulative?

That would require a level of intelligence he doesn't have.

  7. Grand.

We're still shit and haven't signed anybody, have social plankton running the club, a sub-par manager and a strikeforce consisting of this guy (I don't count Shola as a player) and a parasitic owner who has as much respect for this club as I do simultaneously for religion and Wonga's business principles.

    Fuck off.

"Islam isn't about picking and choosing."

Grow your beard then, you f***ing c***.

 Is that genuinely part of the Muslim handbook?

    "handbook"

  9. I watch quite a bit of Lyon because my French mate supports them. As suggested above, he's hit and miss. When he's on, he's really on and can be a beast; when he's off he can be a total donkey. He has the attributes to succeed (FWIW I have never seen him play in anything other than a 4-4-2 as a target man), but he can have streaks in a game where he can't shoot or control for shit.

If we get him for £5M or under I would call it a tidy signing, but nothing to write home about. Definitely a huge improvement over Shola though. If the striker pool was Cisse, Gomis, A.N. Other, Gouffran and Campbell being blooded in sometimes then we would be in good shape.

  10. It's in such a prestigious location that shop. Tourists from all over the world will wander past/inside it.

What a f***ing advert for London and England. Donnay and Lonsdale tat as far as the eye can see.

There is nothing prestigious about Oxford St, it's an absolute dump.

    Bollocks, it's a landmark.
