I'm honestly not sure what is worse - the jingoism of the tabloids or this miserable, defeatist punditry from a pop culture "journalist" named Marina. Between the papers and all the complaining in this thread about the TV commentary, it seems the World Cup coverage in the UK has been extremely poor.
The Swiss. The reasons:
1. I like Alexander Frei, Deridyok, Inler, and Barnetta. I'm also fond of Hakan Yakin's name.
2. I lived there for a year.
3. Ottmar Hitzfeld is brilliant.
This casual interest will end as soon as Euro 2010 qualifiers begin.

You must get tired of waiting for some English player to dive in the box so you can claim equivalence with that sort of stupidity. We all know who the major culprits are.
Regardless of how far England go in this tournament, they should hit the reset button at the end of this tournament and start bringing in youngsters immediately. I'd rather try that and fail to qualify for Euro 2012 than limp on with older players and end up like these French or Italian teams.
Agreed.
But you have to admit. There is something about England v. Germany that makes the spine tingle in a way that England v. South Korea or England v. USA doesn't.
