  1. Compared to what? In terms of the level of football at which we are competing, or attempting to compete. Obviously, in terms of the Champions League, we are worse than mediocre. Compared to Blyth Spartans, though, we're pretty good. So not compared to the Premier League then? Au contraire. I said in terms of the level of football at which we are competing -- that certainly includes the Premier League. So competing as an 'average' Premier league side this year and finishing 7th would be a 'mediocre' season? In the period under discussion it was our best finish by some considerable distance -- our only one in the top half of the table -- and it wasn't good enough to qualify for the UEFA. Yep, that's certainly a picture of mediocrity in the post-Bobby years.

  4. Nobody in their right mind could argue that we've been anything better than mediocre since Shepherd sacked Bobby.
  5. i don't know, they did it once didn;t they ? are you confident that Ashley will ? Was that a yes or a no? are you renewing your season ticket Ozzie lad , and did you have one anyway ? A yes or no will do ? Did you have one when the club really was mediocre. A yes or no will do ? Yeah, we've renewed. Yes, we had our season tickets through Shepherd's last three managerial appointments. no, I said when we were mediocre Ozzie lad. Not while playing in europe. Did you have one when we were mediocre, a simple yes or no will do. Didn't need one pre-SJH, so no. See? Answering simple questions is easy!

  8. Fuck off. 25k-30k Euros seems like the kinda of wages Benfica would pay, they haven't that much money these days. Article seems to be pro-Keegan and snipe at MA. More likely the earlier "word" was bollocks.
  9. still yapping around Ozzie lad By the way, you still didn't answer the question about whether you imagined Shepherd was likely to get us back into the Champions League. A simple yes or no would do the trick.
  10. Just say all the stuff you usually say.
  11. Yes, it's very like the summer when Robson first joined. He also had to work with limited funds, and sell and buy in order to get the wage bill under control. Took him a couple of seasons to get it all sorted -- and then we had our most successful few seasons under Shepherd. The idiots baying for an instant fix seem to have forgotten all this.
  12. Any old tripe rather than answer the question, eh?
  13. He's too chicken to answer this question. you're like a little lapdog Ozzie lad, always getting under somebody's feet but i notice you didn't answer the question. i answered this earlier. Do you think Ashley will do better than the Halls and Shepherd with the same manager ? Liar.
  14. He's too chicken to answer this question. you're like a little lapdog Ozzie lad, always getting under somebody's feet And you're like a chicken, as predicted. Cluck, cluck, cluck.

  16. Bollocks. By that "logic", Marcelino, Luque, Boumsong, Viana, Duff and Smith were all good value. neither was your hero. Are you too thick to realise that you've just shafted your own "argument"? my argument is that you have to judge quality and pay for it if necessary. Shame you still don't understand this Ozzie. The fact that YOU might be unrealistic enough to think that every signing you make ought to be a success, simply isn't worth commenting on. Self explanatory. You also have to back your appointed manager. He may not be who you want, or who I want, but the people who appointed him - he's THEIR choice and so they should back him until such a time they feel he's making a bad job of it. In Ozzie's world you don't pay any transfer fee or wages for 2 years, and then you only pay what you think the player was worth based on his performances for you. on that basis, his hero would have only ever collected one weekly pay packet Most people like to shag their wives or girlfriends, but there's always the odd couple of weirdos who prefer to stick their cocks into the raspy crevices of an inflatable straw man.

  19. And NE5 will come blazing in saying that the new owner's lack on interest in three-legged monkey toads indicates a deplorable lack of ambition, and anyone who disagrees must be a thick cunt.,
  20. I've been trying to work out what it was that caused you to write with such negativity and prejudice all the time. Thanks for explaining, I'll make allowances now.
  21. this. Or something is wrong. But you can't say this because if you don't think the sun shines out of Ashleys arse and Fat Freddie did everything wrong, you're a naughty boy. Something is clearly wrong, the ambition is not there, whatever. Those of us with half a brain have been saying it for ages. Sad day. As I read down this thread, I expect to find the majority of people condemning you for calling it like it is ............. ie the bleeding obvious.
  22. Is that really true? I don't know how you'd measure the column inches, but there was quite a bit of fuss about Martin Jol being out of favour and then Ramos arriving. No where near the coverage of KK's return. Google: Results 1 - 10 of about 966,000 for ramos tottenham Results 1 - 10 of about 697,000 for keegan newcastle. And there's a longer association between the words "keegan" and "newcastle" than between the words "ramos" and "tottenham". I get more from Keegan and Newcastle. Not that it means owt anyway. As has been pointed out, it's a pretty pointless debate. Google: Results 1 - 10 of about 431,000 for wullie newcastle Results 1 - 4 of 4 for ozziemandias newcastle :-[

  25. I always come back to the same non-answer when we visit the question in the thread header: We sort of are and we sort of aren't.
