  1. I  once sent an e-mail to the club asking would they in the future be showing live games on the internet. Their reply was "we will be looking into this future and thanked me for my suggestion"

NUFC eying Liverpool left-back Emiliano Insua

Jul 15 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle

NEWCASTLE United are toying with the idea of trying to bring a second Argentinian to St James’s Park in the form of Liverpool left-back Emiliano Insua.

And the key to any deal could be Insua’s fellow Argentinian Jonas Gutierrez, who linked up with his new colleagues at the club’s training ground yesterday following his switch to United from Real Mallorca.

Kevin Keegan told me on the final day of last season at Everton that one of his main aims in the summer was to bring in a left-back to give Spaniard Jose Enrique some competition.

And at the moment Enrique remains the only experienced left-back on United’s books, with the promising Hungarian Tamas Kadar still having some way to go before Keegan can consider him for first- team duty.

Sources on Merseyside have revealed United’s interest in Insua – ironically, the 19-year-old was one of the players offered to Newcastle when Liverpool tried to lure James Milner to Anfield last month.

Since then, Insua who, like Nobby Solano is a former Boca Juniors player, has signed a new three-year contract at Liverpool.

But following the departure of John Arne Riise, Liverpool have paid £7m to Udinese for their left-back Andrea Dossena and he is expected to be first choice for Benitez.

Although he is a naturally right-footed player Gutierrez plays on the left, and it would make sense for Keegan to have the chance to play Insua behind his fellow Argentinian.

Insua, who represents Argentina at Under-20 level, only managed four first-team appearances for Liverpool last season.

But three of them came at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen whether Rafa Benitez will let him switch from Merseyside to Tyneside, either in a permanent move or on loan.

interesting. or it is just our dear reporter that are playing at deep water...

  4. Would be great. Show all NUFC matches, interviews and latest news from training etc. The channel does´t have to run 24/7. I am absolutely sure we have enough fans willing to by this. How can Chelsea have it?

Would by it immediately like everything else

Would only be able to show non-competitive matches because of the TV deals. Basically it would be a glorified version of NUFC World but with phone-in shows on in the evening. Not sure if we'd be replying old games as MUTV do but some other clubs don't.

I would assume that, I´m afraid. Still think it would be a great idea.

  6. Find it strange people calling Gutierrez an unknown name, maybe to those without the slightest bit of interest in football outside of England he is.

    agree

also. why are people so concerned about what Keegan said 10 days ago? surly it was just something that popped out of him. don´t think he meant that we would have got a superstar in our ranks by now. and Jonas and Guthire is for sure something we have discussed :coolsmiley:

  7. Will we make it three signings in three weeks? :indi:

I wonder why has there been no photos for the press or anything yet? Hopefully we're waiting to present a few at once. ;)

Does anyone seriously think that we are going to sign anyone half decent..we all moaned at Mr Shepherd but at least he brought in some big-ish names. Mr Ashley doesnt seem to want any part of us so does anyone think he is going to splash the cash? I mean so far we have signed two unknowns....Who is seriously going to want to sign for us when teams like west ham mancity pompy everton are all as good if not better than us , in a better position with similar chances of suceeding.

Are we all a little too expectant of a big name? Can't see it personally.

    oh dear

  8. I had a West Ham fan laughing at our signings the other day, I politely reminded him they had bought an Icelandic defender that was it, he promptly went quiet.

    WHU fan mackems.gif

Other teams fan can laugh at the Guthire transfer, I can give them that, even if I think he is an ok buy for us now. But Jonas? I believe he will turn out to be a good transfer so don´t understand that.

  9. Just out of interest DaehtihS, who do you think are a bigger and better club nufc or the mackems?

Also, if we have no hope of signing good players, becasue "we are such a small club" then how did Man City manage it last season? In the past 10 yearsm Man Citys hightest finish was something like 9th, how do you account for them being able to sign the likes of Elano, Corulka and Petrov etc? Surely if they can manage it with there history then we can with ours, theres absolutely no question bout it, club for club the most pessimisitc would say we were equal, (Stadium, Finance, recent history) but the ones with half a brain wiuld all say we have had a far better recent history, so what your verdict? This example contravenes anything you've actually said.

Dont tell me any rubbish about finance either because you havent used that line beofre in your "realistic" views so i wouldnt expect that explanaition now.

a manager that is famous does helps. speaks out your intentions. so does the new chairman who has expressed publicly his ambitions to tackle the top 4. them spending quite a bit last season also signals serious intentions. something like what we were. agreed may not work. maybe our Everton kind of method as it looks like this season will work better. mind u, will love to be the next everton. only time will tell.

    Like Kevin Keegan?

dunno abt that....yes a legend in our world but outside that and England....debatable.

  Proof if ever it were needed that you're f***ing clueless.

    f*** off midds. :hmm:

just prove how deluded we can be and no wonder the easiest laughing stock in the league. easily say Sven and Ramos have 5x the pulling power than KK has currently. come on, a legend i admit but to outsiders a manager that wins nought and famous for bottling.

First time I could agree with you. Give you that.

  10. ok.

for years under Shepherd we have spent silly money and silly salaries at so called "trophy signings". BUT. Please answer me. How many trophies have we won? And how much glory have they given us? And how much money are we spending in salaries at shit players that just sit at there arse and take place?

Now another person have take the charge of the club and he has a new strategy. That is to not splash silly money at old players that so many times has failed. Instead we want young cheap players that want to play for the club and if they don´t succeed, OK they wasn´t that expensive anyway.

This have been implanted for one year and it is just unbelievable how some people hear are moaning that we don´t have ambitions bla bla bla. It make me sick. when we failed with "trophy signings" and now they won´t even try this!

Give it time we have got so far behind other clubs with that strategy. Let´s try this.

Though I promise we can question the board if they (when) we start to compete with Arsenal etc. But now. Shot the fuck up!

  11. Aye the buy em young make em top layers and sell them idea, suppose we shall see in the next 3 to 4 years.

Newcastle Consider Transfer Offer For Young French Striker Monnet-Paquet

Submitted by Jake Briggs on Mon, 2008-07-14 18:11. Newcastle United Premiership Transfer News

Newcastle United are tracking young French striker Kevin Monnet-Paquet, who is currently playing for RC Lens in France.

19-year-old Monnet-Paquet made his debut for the Lens in 2006 on his 17th birthday, but is not prepared to play in Ligue 2 following Lens’ relegation last season from Ligue 1, the top-flight of French football.

Magpie scouts have been alert to this development, with it thought that the Premier League club are considering making an offer for the talented youngster to bring him to St James’ Park, according to reports in France.

great, but im starting to think that the board think that they can get to the top third of the league by this strategy alone.

this will sound impatient and illogical, and it is, but if we dont sign someone for over 10million this summer i will be concerned, not because buying players worth that much guarentees that they are good, but if we go 2 seasons without spending any serious money it wont say much for our ambition.

i think we are being run much better than we were under shepheard, and that we are going in the right direction, but if we are not going to spend then we wont succeed. maybe its part of some grand scheme to get the club turning a decent profit before spending big, but  the forum is going to get even worse (if possible) and quickly if we dont spend.

in order to keep up with citeh, and spurs we would need to spend money that would only be pheaseable with CL football. and liverpool spurs and citeh will also have to spend that amount. only one of those teams will get it though, and it may not be the same team each season, so as long as we continue to improve i dont care if citeh and spurs get further ahead of us, for the time being, because if all 3 are intent on chasing CL football, it will probably end very badly for at least 2 of them.

we still need to be spending money regardless of whether we compete with spurs and citeh however, we have apparently tried and failed so far, but we need to succeed.

thats not to say spurs or citeh´s spending guarentees them success however, but it gives them a better chance.

im not going to be happy until smith, viduka, barton and duff are off the wage bill though.

dont know if any of the above is coherent and/or makes sense.

It doesn't make any sense. You complete lost me when you said you wanted us to sign someone for over ten million but then admitted it doesn't guarentee a player will be good. If we signed Guthrie for over £10 million will you be happy or up in arms?

its obvious he meant he a good player or proven/experienced player whose ability is worth 10m. will ask for MA's head if he splashed 3m on Guthrie let alone 10m. his current ability is no more than 2m.

Like you've ever seen him play ffs.

a handful. but does not take a brilliant scout to know Guthrie's worth. may turn out to be a 10m player but currently, god.....even Bolton rejected the option to sign him. even if he has a brilliant first season, still only one season and max worth 5m.

you are a fucking joke. can´t you just shut up or go somewhere else and moan or something.

  12. Deep and Shitteam are just too much. Can´t anyone ban them or something.

Keep your opinions to yourself. Ban me for what, voicing my opinion.

For always be against everyone else. always chance your mined and it is just so frustrating to read.

ex complain that Jonas is not a good enough statement singing . but O´hare would. come on. you make me sick.

  13. Skysports:

Getafe have snapped up Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero on a five-year deal, the champions' city rivals have claimed.

The 21-year-old has made his switch permanent after spending last season on loan with the Primera Division outfit.

It is believed that Madrid valued the player at around €24m (£18.4m).

Spurs were also linked the player, who is part of the Spain Under 21 team.

Cant believe it. after one season, cost this much!!! i would have thought he can be a cheap alternative to replace Emre.

Too good for us we should stick to Nolan and O' hara

true. this is one of the ambitious and hard to get players.

    mackems.gif

Why is that funny? Granero would have been an ambitious signing.
