  1. Can't believe some people think we should just have given him a new contract simply because he wanted one. Whatever happened to earning it? When he came back from Villa, he had a really good season and got a new deal out of it... he's just had a woeful season and we should give him another new deal on more pay? Howay.

    exactly my point.

    edit: sorry about that :colo:

  2. Why on earth should we renew a contract that was signed a year ago and still has three years left on it? He hasn´t become a bit better since the last year and if he thinks he´s contract is so bad then he can either give it to me, or why did he sign it back then?

This is what makes me so sick of football. Why can´t we get a salary cap? No player is allowed to earn more than £x/week. Nowadays no one seems to care about their clubs or even their football career. All they care about is to earn more and more money. But the scary part is that how "little" they even earn they still doesn´t need to work again - ever. Still they want more money.

If the reason for Milners depart is money, then let him go. It is just sad that everything a player care about is money. They don´t even think for there own good. How money times hasen´t we seen this kind of thing? When players follow the money and most of the time everything just end in tears?

    Poor poor Milner.

Of course this is not good if Keegan wants to keep him. But what should we do? Give all the players the kind of money they want? Beside, the idea to renew a contract every year is the stupidest thing I have ever read.

Keep on going Ashley! (Should still be a quite good idea to buy a few more players)

  3. One question.

Why must we always sell our player and replace him with someone else when we already have a too small squad? It will not be bigger if we sell players all the time and Milner is not that bad either.

No. Keep him and by someone else too.

  4. He's doing what Keegan does best, putting belief into players..  Do people expect him to say positive things to Ameobi and then go to the papers and call him worse then s***?

Think this is the case too. But personally I would feel better if he didn´t said anything. You shouldn´t lie you know

  5. Keegan’s boost for Ameobi

Aug 23 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle

...............But Keegan told me today: “Shola is back with us and he will be in full training on Monday. He’s fit and I am quite happy to have him back.

“For £2.4m where am I going to get a player like Shola?

“He knows the Premier League and the club and he understands the area. I don’t look at it as a minus at all.

“Who knows? He might be our top scorer this season – I wouldn’t put it past him. mackems.gif

“We all know players who were going to leave, but stay and have a great season and then sign a new contract.”

    he can´t be serious :frantic:

  6. Starting to lean from cautious towards concerned. Last season we were saved from relegation when Keegan bit the bullet and dropped Smith and Duff, and Milner was injured. KK said he didn't want to put out another team without goals in it, but that is what we are doing right now. Duff is playing Owen's role (I think) but despite scoring for fun in pre-season he will go back into his shell the longer the season goes on. Milner doesn't score goals, and Jonas hasn't got many prior to coming here. Either we address this in the transfer market or we live in hope Viduka and Owen will stay fit. That doesn't fill me with confidence it has to be said.

    :idiot2:

  7. Unbelievably. How can someone want to go to Man City. that is just amazing. The same goes with Hughes. How could he sign for them? The club is going to crash sooner rather than later.

can´t give a toss about Kompany anyway.

  8. Tiago Snubs Everton & Newcastle For Atletico Madrid?

Submitted by Niraj Prabhu on Thu, 2008-08-21 14:08. Everton, Newcastle United Premiership Transfer News

Everton and Newcastle United-target Tiago is reported to be wary of returning to England despite a loan move with Toffees said to be agreed by his parent club Juventus.

The Portugal international midfielder, who played for Chelsea earlier in his career, is reported in Italy, to be keen on moving to Spanish club Atletico Madrid.

Juve are apparently desperate to offload the 27-year-old former Lyon man, who has failed to impress for the Turin giants.

Corriere dello Sport quoted Tiago, as saying: "I will not go to Everton."

Earlier in the summer, Newcastle were reported to be having a deal in place to sign the central midfielder.

  9. :colo: of course

Seem him many times and honestly he have never had a bad game. Less injury prone, probably less wage and probably a better defender. Colo can´t just defend. He can also attack. And I´m sure you will see that in not a too far future.

HATCHET MAN: Toon owner Mike Ashley offers Newcastle fans free pain relief - by the pint

    Mike Ashley

    The landlord: Mike Ashley

Mike Ashley has given up on trying to win over the Newcastle fans with stunning new signings and successful football and has gone for the lowest common denominator: fans' liking for free beer.

That he is having to bribe the Toon army in an attempt to fill St James' Park for the first home game of the season against Bolton despite their creditable draw at Manchester United speaks volumes.

But maybe it is a humanitarian gesture from Ashley: if supporters drink enough before games, they won't feel the pain.

    :colo:

  11. Can't remember Coloccini directly saying he'd not spoken to Newcastle.

don´t know about that. but once he did say that he was a depor player and was focusing at the new season with them. most of the time the players don´t give away anything before the deal is done. he can still be a NUFC player 1 sep.

  12. He dosnt say hes turned us don. If anything it is slightly encouaging what he says, becasue of the fact he dosnt say 'i'm not going to join Newcastle'

no he didn´t. just said that he was a madrid player and was focused at another season with them. Can´t blame him since nobody has come in for him.

  13. Maybe I can´t read. But did he say anywhere that he turned us down? or that we even have made a move? Just said that he wanted to stay at Madrid. he may not want to come here. But I get so irritated at the media that always use misleading headlines that often differ from the text.

  14. To be fair to press pretty much everyone thought it would be Rio. I think it's a shame Capello has gone for the old guard rather than freshened things up a bit.

As someone said, it's open to debate whether Terry should even be playing in the first team.
