  1. Daryl Smylie, midfielder from Northern Ireland played for Newcastle some years ago. A young lad who didn't make it here. He now plays for Ljunkskile in the Swedish Premier Division. The manager pays a small part of his wage...

Smylie was the best player in the team. But Ljungskile is crap. He is now out of contract and will leave for a better club.

Kalmar FF in the same league (last years champions)

  2. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/spurs-may-bid-for-given-991537.html

Tottenham are ready to take advantage of the crisis at Newcastle by launching a bid for Shay Given.

The Newcastle goalkeeper is unhappy at the constant turmoil on Tyneside and is ready to make a move when the transfer window opens.

Toon owner Mike Ashley wants to cash in on his top stars before he sells the club and knows Given is one of the club's most highly prized assets.

And new Spurs boss Redknapp has confirmed he would be interested in the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper if he becomes available.

Redknapp said: "Shay Given is a great goalkeeper who I admire. Any manager would have to be interested in him if he became available." Sources close to Given - who would command a £7 million fee - insist he is ready to leave Tyneside in the New Year in an attempt to join a successful club.

A close friend of Given said: "Shay is widely regarded as one, if not the best, goalkeeper in the Premier League.

"Yet he has nothing to show for his ability as he has not won a major trophy in his entire career.

"He has always stated he is happy at Newcastle but the simple fact of the matter is he wants to win things. Although it will hurt him to do so, he is ready to leave Newcastle to achieve that.

"And he would be more than happy to go to a club like Tottenham where the club's potential under Harry is clearly enormous." Redknapp knows he needs to find a replacement for error prone Heurelho Gomes if he is to bring the sort of success he wants to White Hart Lane.

    :colo:

  3. To tell the truth, I don't think it would be the worst idea if whoever comes in names Shepherd as Chairman. He knows the club, knows the game, and would have a budget to work with, so wouldn't be able to put the club at risk by overspending or whatever.

    :idiot2:

  4. I don´t like to say this. But Villa is definitely the team I´m going to "support" as long Newcastle are in these troubles (for ever...?). I really like the fact they are buying Englishmen. I especially just love to see Young and Agbonlahor, they are soooo good. Barry is a quality player as well. Also like On´Neill.

Is a pity Milner is playing there. But I think he won´t be playing that much if he can´t develop himself. He is just don´t good enough. maybe as a squad player, but noting more.

Villa will easily finish top 6. Think they can have a good chance to the CL spot if they is lucky with injuries and stuff like that.

Villa for CL. Newcastle for CC. Sad but true

  5. I genuinely cannot understand this vitriol towards Terry Mac. What's the craic there like?

He's been around since Souness, and we've still been s****.

So if we want a new start, every fucker should piss off instead of hanging on like the plague.

Agree. If we want a fresch start there is no point in keeping Terry. If Keegan had to go Terry had to go. So there is nothing more to say about that.

  6. People are making a mountain out of a molehill at this point in time.

Or rather, convicting a thief of a murder he didnt commit just because hes a thief.

The current board have merely overruled a manager in one or two player purchases/sales. Granted, thats a bad thing to do, they've gone back on their word and made it difficult for the manager to do his job as a result, but theres little to indicate at this point in time that they have no intention of improving the footballing squad. In fact, they've done that, but unfortunately its been done without the consent of the manager, along with trying to get rid of some dead wood/under performers/liabilities/wantaway players, again unfortunately without the manager's consent.

Ashley has been here over a year. I don't think we have, relative to the rest of the EPL, improved our squad at all in that time. I don't think we have more or less dead wood. I think we are still in exactly the same spot, hoping for 10th spot if things go our way with injuries. As has been said ad nauseum, the only thing that is changing is we are getting further away from the top 4/5/6 (whatever it is now) with every transfer window. We are still the joke of the league, replacing managers every year (actually that has gotten worse - we've moved to a bi-annual schedule).

There may be little to indicate they have no intention of improving the football squad, but there is even less to indicate they have the competency/desire to do it either.

The fact is, whatever way you look at it, Ashley has wasted the last 8 months, wasted perhaps another 8M in managerial payouts, and exhausted any goodwill he came in with. Whatever his intentions are, he has royally f***ed it. I'm convicting Ashley of being a jumped up fuckwit, because he runs about with a bunch of jumped up fuckwits, and the football club he runs is acting like one. f*** him, and the horse he rode in on. When he actually achieves something for the club beyond fancy talk and hiring a boatload of charlatans to stroke his ego, lets talk about that. Until then, all he's achieved is a complete shambles, and if you think one or two good signings is worth that, then you're having a laugh. He didn't even get rid of Smith, so what the f*** was the point?

First are you hating Ashley because he buys players behind the managers back.

    +

They are you blaming him that he hasn´t improved the squad

    =

    :frantic:

You should think of what you are writing and. and I can help you with one think. In the first window Sam Allardyce decided the player.

  7. Passionate Newcastle fans involved with the Toon Ultras have expressed their deep concern over the running and mismanagement of NUFC.

We feel the events at our football club over the past week have been nothing short of disastrous and we put full blame on the shoulders of Mike Ashley. His PR stunts in the past may have previously given him some leeway, but there’s only so much you can push underground before the truth surfaces.

It has become very apparent with the departure of Kevin Keegan that Mike Ashley quite simply does not care about the football club that we as Geordies treat as our religion. Mr Ashley hasn’t and never will be a fan! The constant public wearing of him in a black & white shirt and his presence in the away end have purely been a false act of an allegiance to NUFC!

Ashley’s implementation of this continental approach and rigidness to it ultimately tipped Keegan over the edge. We fully sympathise with Keegan and believe he should have been allowed total control over transfers. In the past even Ashley himself said that this was the case, but recent developments suggest otherwise, counteract this and expose Ashley to be a conniving liar!

We have since been disgusted to see Ashley out parting in New York the day after news had broke there had been a massive rift with the club and our then manager, Keegan. The timing and circumstances couldn’t have been worse and emphasises Ashley’s lack of enthusiasm, eagerness and effort to the football club we love.

Once again our football club has been turned into a laughing stock and we feel as a group that some action must be taken. We fully support the actions outlined in True Faiths/Mags press release, but we also propose additional forms of action -

    100% bullshit.

The recommendation from true faith, the mag and this is just going to make the situation even worse. and you are saying that you cares about the club mackems.gif

How will the situation be if we dislike Ashley from now and forward until someone else buy the club? It will get even worse. And what says that someone soon will buy us? Nothing. So how will this help (and the true faith and the mag recommendation)?

People says that Ashley don´t care. But why are we buying quality players? scouting? developing a youth system? and even going at all our matches in the stand with a shirt!

Shepherd cared less. bought players behind the managers back. spend millions at crap players and managers. How is that better?

People can dislike Ashley for what happened with Keegan (the real mistake Ashley has make is that he hired Keegan from the beginning). But at some extent it has to stop. I am sure Keegan had some blame in this situation also.

dislike AShley. but don´t make the situation even worse. and to say we are at rock bottom I can only do this

  9. My Turkish colleague says he would be a brilliant head coach and is a great motivator.

Faith (good name :snod:) seems too me be a quite similar person to Keegan, good motivator and coach. But how will he handle the other part of the club? that is the big question.

    would love him though :snod:

  10. Whatever side of the argument you're on it's pretty clear that the club is in a no-win situation. They've put out a statement full of emotion and people are slating them for it. I agree that putting out something like that was a mistake, but I'm sure that if they'd put out a slick PR statement they'd have been slated for that too. Having seen this I'm now one hundred percent certain of what I wrote earlier on.

I'd rather they said nothing than put out this. If they don't see how it's going to antagonise already angry fans then they're incredibly ill-advised. Whether you blame Keegan or not, you cannot deny this.

I didn't deny it, I agreed with it, it was definitely a mistake, but like I said, nothing they can say or do will change a lot of people's minds. A lot of fans have already decided what went on and who's at fault, despite not knowing anything about what actually happened, that was obvious from the moment people were kicking off outside the ground before even knowing whether he had gone or not.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, reality is irrelevant to most people on here and elsewhere, they think they know what's what and they're not going to even contemplate for a second whether they're right or not, whatever happens. It's f***ing madness, mass-hysteria on a huge level, and people are seriously suggesting that the club's future should be given over to these people!?! I'm sorry, but I quite like actually having a club to support, it'd be gone within a year if that ever happened.

great posts indi. Agree in everything you says.

  11. Well I support the club no matter what. To be honest. You all make me feel sick. Just giving me a reason to start supporting Manure or something.

Clearly it was a mistake to hire Keegan (don´t know what they were thinking) just because the reason that if he should leave the club before the contract expelled this was the situation that always was going to happened.

Hope Ashley hire McClaren or some shit and sell the club to some fucker just to piss of the fans.
