  1. Doesn't Redknapp more or less hate him now though? Reckon he'll be attainable for 6-8m.
  2. Aye, I'd be happy with Lovenkrands as his back-up as well.
  3. I love when people start talking to themselves in threads.
  4. If we go up I'd like to see us take a look at Robbie Keane. Surely on his way out at Spurs, will be 30 by the start of next season so I think his days of commanding ridiculously inflated transfer fees may be over. Proven Premiership goalscorer and the kind of lively player we need.
  5. Hughton deserves credit for this year, it's ludicrous to try and suggest he's not had a massive role in the success we've had this year. Do we have better players than pretty much everyone else in the league? Yes, we do. Have we been lucky at points this year? Yes, but everyone has luck on their side from time to time. Hughton took a rotten dressing room and has them playing together as a team. I think he'll get found out very badly in the Premiership if we go up and he stays in charge, but that doesn't mean I have to pretend he's done a bad job this year.
  6. Aye, fucking awesome goal by Villareal that. Pretty much passed the ball into the net.
  7. I have backed Darlington to win today because Tadhg Purcell is unstoppable. Do you know out about him? Can't say that I do. Enlighten me!
  8. Looks suited to coming off the bench for me. Can use his pace to beat tired opponents. Still reckon he'll struggle to do it if he starts games, but nice to see him doing well. Another good win, well done lads.
  9. Need Arsenal and Chelsea to hold on and I'll break my losing streak.
  10. Pr*ck - don't really post on here but what the hell do you expect??? Last summer everyone was panicking that because of debts we would 'do a leeds' but instead we have bought top quality championship players because we are a championship team. The sooner people get their heads around this the better. We have spent 18millon on people who have had less of an impact in two years than this guy has had in two weeks. Knobheads like you would only think the sun shone out these players arses if they cost ten times as much. We are now for the first time ever a sustainable club with no long term debt issues, we are top of the league, we are probably spending more on wages than any championship club ever has but still people whinge? WTF??? What did you want to happen??? Be so awesome that we would get promoted by default? Get behind the team - stop degrading them and we might get somewhere this year and next. Believe it or not - get behind the owner!!! We could get someone so much worse. Liverpool, Man Utd, Portsmouth and Notts County are all proof of this. We are spending within our means and given we are one of the biggest clubs in the world our means are more than most. We will be back there and we can do it in a way to benefit the club long term Firstly - Go and fuck yourself, dickhead. Secondly - Get behind the owner? What, the guy who since taking us over a mere two and a half years ago has... - Humiliated and undermined the greatest manager in the history of NUFC, having clueless tossers/ yes men like Derek Llambias and Dennis Wise go above his head to the point that Keegan had no choice left but to resign. - Replaced said manager with Joe Kinnear, an archaic disgrace of a football manager who had been out of work for half a decade before being deemed the man to lead us back to the promised land by said owner. - Been declared, in a court of law no less, to have been guilty of 'repeatedly and intentionally misleading the press, public and the fans of Newcastle United' since taking over. - Overseen the club getting relegated. Off the top of my head, like. But hey, we signed Wayne Routledge and he actually looks like a good player, so all is forgiven yeah? You'll have to forgive me if I don't think giving a long term contract to the likes of Leon Best is a good idea. The guy is below average at this level, why not just get someone on loan for 6 months and then try and buy someone who might actually be of use in the Premiership this summer? I'll never completely write Ashley off, as long as he owns the team I'll be hoping that he starts to do things right for us. If you think one decent transfer window is enough to make up for two and a half years of perennial fuck ups then that's fine, good for you. Just don't expect everyone to be so easily won over.
  11. Who's the "waste of space"? Leon Best. Though he'd make a passable 4th choice striker next season I suppose. As long as we don't get promoted, that is.
  12. I love how signing one decent/good player, one serviceable Championship player, and one complete waste of space, as well as getting a couple of loans in is considered some sort of glorious transfer window these days.
  13. Tend to be of the opinion that a penalty + red is much too strong a punishment in the instances where a defender/keeper narrowly fails to get to a 50-50 ball. If the foul is done deliberately then yes, the guy should get a red. But when you get beaten by milliseconds in a genuine attempt to win the ball, the punishment is a bit severe IMO.
  14. The majority of young footballers from the UK and Ireland do seem like they'd be absolute twats if you met them to be fair. Young, obscenely wealthy people who've never done a day's hard work in their whole life and have probably had people hanging out of them telling them they were great since they were 10 years old don't tend to be the soundest people in the world like.
  15. Fiver returns 19.50 for that on Ladbrokes.
  16. Anyone with Darren fucking Bent in their team needs shooting.
  17. Considering we've had pretty much nothing in terms of players who can play right wing this year, it doesn't say much about Lua Lua's chances of making it at the club that he didn't get a look in. He's 19 now, you would think he should be able to offer something in the Championship? Maybe the loan will do him good.
  18. Think we're good enough to get to the play offs at least. Aye, Russia would have been pretty high on my list of teams I'd have wanted from Pot 1, and Slovakia isn't a bad result from Pot 2 either. Now, we just need a competent central midfielder of some sort to emerge from the country. Or another one, that isn't a complete gobshite this time, at least.
  19. You're on the internet man, how fucking hard could it have been to find out yourself?
  20. Couldn't have asked for a much nicer group, think we'll go close.
  21. Reckon he's gonna be one of those who you'll have to learn to take the good with the bad, like most flashy players which he's always struck me as. Still, I'll take him over Ryan Taylor out there any time.
  22. Everton really shat the bed in this one like, woeful performance against 10 men.
  23. Lovenkrands +1 all the way. Still would go with Shola at the moment, personally.
