He doesn't NEED to sell up, getting rid of Wise and bringing back Keegan would sort this s*** out.
True, but Wise should simply realise he's not wanted here and resign. He surely can't enjoy being hated by so many. Given the clubs financial concerns that Ashley's put across, Keegan would obviously have to be reasonable in deamanding transfer money.
Granted we should watch what we're spending, but smaller clubs seem to get by on half the gate money, shirt sales etc than we do.
This is Dennis Wise the man universally hated by all football fans, excluding Chelsea and Wimbledon. Dont think he's cares what people think about him as long as he's getting paid. Was chatting to a leicester fan who pointed out that Wise nearly put them out of existence when he was suing them for unfair dismissal despite the fact he had assaulted the club captain, breaking his jaw in the process. The guy is scum, pure and simple.

Marcelino Garcia Toral has been linked for a long time, ever since jimenez came in, but I cant seem to find a bookmaker offering odds on him.

Newcastle, Blackburn and Everton are in a race to land Russia midfield ace Tymoschuk, who would cost £7m from current club Zenit St Petersburg
- Sun.
Strange that he would cost £7m seeing as they spent £10m on him a year ago and he is their captain.
Isn't he Ukrainian as well? Love the Sun's level of journalism

Tony Cascarino's is a good read

I wouldn't be suprised if Nike had a large say in where he ended up going. Can't imagine their exclusive contract with him would be worth that much if he's playing at Man City

Bournemouth might end up with a 25 point deduction. They might as well just give any team who doesn't have a chance of promotion the season off.

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has rejected reports that he is set to sell the Premier League club.Reports late last week suggested Newcastle had held informal discussions with American private equity firm InterMedia Partners over the sale of the club; however those reports were denied.
Fresh speculation then emerged claiming that a construction company owned by the family of Osama bin Laden were considering a bid, but the claims were rebuffed by both parties.
And, in a bid to end the recent speculation, Ashley has insisted he has no plans to sell the Magpies.
He told the Evening Standard: "That (the rumour of a sale) is not true."
Ashley did admit that he is seeking investors, adding: "I would say that I am keen to have partners in Newcastle. That's a very expensive seat I sit in."
On the link with The Saudi Binladen Group (SBG), Ashley said: "I think I'll start with people from Newcastle, not in some cave in Afghanistan."
SBG, whose chief executive is Osama's half-brother, Bakr bin Laden, and was founded by their father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Laden, have long-since severed all ties with their infamous relative.
"people from Newcastle, not some cave in afghanistan"?
sounds a bit of a dodgy quote to me!
Why would Ashley tell a local paper in the London area anything?
If he was going to talk to a local paper it would be the "Newcastle Evening Chronicle" not the jellied-eeels "London Evening Standard"
Grief!!!
on that note i understand his holding is up to 72%
But, why would he speak to a L O C A L evening rag in London??
His company is based in London. He lives in London.
Just a thought.
Plus who in their right mind would want to talk to Oliver

Any europeans watching who can tell us whether this is just a problem with the bbbc or if the whole satellite signal to europe is going down?

Most interesting fact yet about Arshavin: He has a diploma in fashion design. You've got to love Skysports for getting the important info out there

Did anyone else notice that in one of the Journal articles this morning we have sold Emre "for nearly 4 million" and in the other "for around 3 million"? You've got to love the consistency.

At the bottom of this Arsenal page there's an update saying he's signed for Newcastle, can anyone confirm?

It is Newcastle owner Mike Ashley's desire to recruit with the potential for future sales
That certainly could have been worded better.
So does Ashley just intend to be the new Kia Joorabchian then?
-
He's lightning quick but that's about it. Makes the wrong decisions a lot of the time and teamwork is definitely not a plus point for him. Hope we don't go near him with a barge pole.

My apologies for the original post then, I guess I just expect a higher standard of journalism from the beeb
-
Just noticed this on the beeb, Habib Beye has been dropped from the Senegal squad. I hope its because their resting him, would be madness to think he couldn't get into the squad on current form

i've only seen the videos on youtube, but it seems to me that his only likeness to drogba is that fact that he's from africa..... much more of a lightweight dribbling type of player. could be our new owen or martins though...
As far as I know its Gomis that has been likened to Drogba, not Diane.
I think the press now considers any african striker over 6ft to be the next Drogba

I dunno why but it rings a bell that we were in for Elano but missed out cos the board were too slow, can remember Allardyce having mumurings about it ad i think it was Elanos name that was being bandied around.
Dont think it was a stright choice between Elano and Smith.
I'm sure Allardyce said that it was due to the hold up in the Dyer transfer that we didn't get Elano
-
That Alan Thompson thing is a bit worrying, I always thought he was kicked out of Newcastle by Keegan because of his lifestyle rather than because he couldn't get regular first team football.
-
They've got to stick with Enrique as first choice, we're not going to get anyone better than what he can become and if we stop playing him would only really hinder his development. Mattock would be an interesting shout, looks good when I have seen him but from what I've read Leicester would want £5million plus (although that could clearly change if things don't go their way in the last few games).
Wouldn't it hinder Mattock's development sat on our bench every week?
Mattock is only 17 so probably isn't ready to be a starter in the premier league, whereas Enrique is 22

They have also expressed an interest in Mbark Boussoufa, the Morocco striker, although Anderlecht, his Belgian club, are not resigned to losing the 23-year-old. Kia, the Korean car firm who sponsor the Belgium team, have offered to fund a portion of Boussoufa's wages in order to keep him in the country.
“I know the size of the contract Newcastle will offer Boussoufa,” Benoît Morenne, the Kia managing director, said. “The difference between it and what he earns at Anderlecht is not insurmountable. We want to make him one of our ambassadors. It is the only way to keep players of his quality in Belgium. Newcastle want an answer from Boussoufa by the end of the week, so there is no time to lose.”
Tony Jimenez leaves the club
