Well, I am blaming it on them. Celtic fans certainly didn't run up to and stab other Celtic fans.
-
Do you know exactly what the motives were like? Not sure if sarcastic, but no I don't know the motives. It could even have been Celtic fans that did the stabbing, I've not checked and don't intend to. But I live in Glasgow, I endure Orange walks every single weekend, and see these morons clad head to toe in their Rangers gear trawling the length of the city looking for fights based on ethnicity, creed and sometimes just in proximity to them. That's on the days they're doing the walks. It's amplified on Old Firm day. Especially just after their 'Brexit day' was taken. Celtic, for all their shite, haven't chosen to smash the city centre when they've won the league each other year of the last decade. It really would be odd for them to start now, in their own part of Glasgow. EDIT: From what I've heard it all started after Rangers fans went into pubs stabbing people. Footage you see of Celtic fans attacking a pub is the apparent retaliation. Whatever you do, never let them into the English league. The both of them are scum.

Yep. Oh, and do not think this isn't related to far-right violence btw. Rangers are brimming with them.

Humiliate the cunts, France. Regards, England.

You know what, fucking yas. Fuck you Luka, you knackered cunt.

Hasn’t it already been used for a year in Germany and Italy? I'm ludicrously out of touch with football, so it could well have been, aye.

What's the deal with VAR after the WC? I presume they're not implementing it into leagues just yet? Seems far too inconsistent as of yet. Some games it makes great calls, then some games there's no calls from it at all when there should have been.

They know how well received their overall WC performance was, let's not have a hollow as fuck victory parade, please.

i was explaining the origins of it's coming home to the bairn and it brought back the memory of how fucking funny it was when the germans beat us on our own patch and basically fucking murdered us with that song Fun times i'm always coldly dispassionate about england personally, helps if there's toon players playing but ultimately i'm not really that bothered if they get beat so i found it fucking hilarious when the germans pulled that in their accent at the time like i wasn't happy we lost or anything, far from it, could just see the funny side the defeat the other day was the most gutted i've probably been tbh Oh fucking aye, I forgot that and didn't quite take your meaning there. They actually sang that at the end of the game, and in the final, right? So we inadvertently helped knock ourselves out then too. It's a fucking great football song like, the absolute best in my opinion.

Nah, no matter what was said, they'd still have said the English are arrogant. There was nothing remotely arrogant about post-match analysis. It's coming home is not arrogant, but it clearly annoyed the fuck out of non-England fans. They've started from the position that we're arrogant, then clutched at whatever nonsense to justify it. The stuff about certain pundits and media taking Croatia for granted is a bit arrogant (not tiredness, but an almost lack of focus on them, let's talk about France/Final - Rio on BBC comes to mind with that). The talks of the final, of how to play France, that is arrogant, the wild hype that was created post-Panama struck me more of idiocy than anything, but that certainly annoyed many too, but so much of it wasn't. There can be truth in both stances. So much wasn't arrogant, but so much was. I'm really not having that our media isn't capable of it.

I know you're raging at this, but this is how it's seen man. People keep mentioning the foreign aspect of this. It's got nowt to do with being foreign and not understanding British/English humour, as the Scots and Welsh make the same comments and come to the same conclusions. I think we're getting a bit hung up on actual words said, my whole life in Scotland has been littered with incidents where I've told I'm an arrogant English cunt. It's a perception others have of us, and going over the words said in the media is irrelevant to it. I don't think it's entirely fair, but I don't think it's without basis either. We are the Lannisters of the world, at least that's how we're seen. EDIT: I don't mean any of this as a dig, by the way, just find it amazing that the whole arrogant English thing has shocked so many.

Can't stop sniggering over consider winning.

I don't think we should take the 'coming home' thing so literally. I fucking loved it being back as a thing, reminds me of the best times of my youth, but added to the sense of entitlement within press coverage (not all of it obviously, just enough of it), it kind of became its own worst enemy. I was in the dentist the other day, and the receptionists/hygienists were all moaning about Three Lions as it was on the radio. Doesn't matter how much of a joke it was at that stage, they were Scottish, and they were indignant.
-
Aye, it's snide as fuck and I'm not sticking up for them. But equally, I just don't like our coverage in general, never have. It gets obnoxious, over the top. I won't stick up for them either.
-
I don't disagree with this, for what it's worth. They've lacked grace in winning, and that's simply true. But it's not wrong to point out the negative impression there is of England as a whole from the coverage of our press, and no, not just pointing out they're tired, but they rest of it. It's coming home, it's our time, talks of the final, our destiny etc. Fair enough, I get it's us just trying to support our team, but it obviously rubs others up the wrong way. It has done for decades, this is no new phenomena. There it is.

I think we underestimate the perception of our media beyond our borders. I mean, we generally think our media is the pits, imagine what the rest do. Most of it does seem to be digs at the media and their portrayal of us as winners in the making, rather than say having a dig at our players or manager. As I'm in Scotland, I get reminded of these things quite frequently by the locals. I am/We are almost expected to take the shite because some cunt in the media is hyping us up or mentioned 1966. This what I was saying the other day, people love beating England. I might have been wrong about the motivation (PL connection), but they clearly took the humph due to the coverage they got, "have struggled against nobodies" type shit, like we were out there putting out Brazil and Germany or something.
