Think a moderate number of people on here rated him and thought he needed more time to adjust/adapt. Personally disliked him, as he looked heavy footed and a tad slow/weak at times. He's improved tenfold however, and this year going forward he's actually become pretty effective (credit to Jonas for some of this too), whereas initially he was crossing it out for a goal kick practically every time.

That's why Agbonlahor should not be "on the plane". Showed a lack of compsure today.

Not quite sure why, but every week the appallingly low standard of football in the Championship never ceases to amaze me. It's like discovering something new every week, then realising that you've already discovered the same thing a week ago.

If we do get promoted, how about Elano from Galatasaray (the former City one)? Not sure how realistic/unrealistic it would be. I am of course arrogantly assuming a player in Turkey would jump at the chance of playing in the Premiership again (probably to do with Anelka being desperate to come here and play for Sounses, despite Fenerbahce being a CL club).

He was let down by his teammates. One also needs to remember that his goals to chances ratio is pretty good if you remove chances that were on his left foot, came at him too fast, the ball bobbled, or Capello was using his mind tricks in the stands.

If he had better teammates and were in a better team, he'd have finished that chance.

Biggest criticism for me of Shearer's 8 games in charge is that he was all too happy to drop Jonas pretty quickly, whilst persisting with the horrific Butt/Nolan partnership in central midfield and the utterly useless Duff on the other flank. Even the replacement, Guthrie, provided nothing to the team on the flank. Just seemed an inexplicable decision to me. The guy who adds something to the team gets dropped because of his flaws in the final third of the pitch, whilst others who not only provided nothing in the final third but were also walking around misplacing the most basic of passes or hiding during the game were allowed to continue. It's a decision you'd expect from a Souness rather than a Sir Bobby.
