  1. Anita and Cheik have fallen apart today. Really poor show from both of them.
  2. Same s***. Same s*** but nearer the end of the tunnel. Just walk into the light, Joe.
  3. Zero teamplay. Hoofball. Everyone wanting to be heroes scoring wonder goals. Only players who have been OK are Williamson, Hatem and Sammy Ameobi.
  4. Ref thought Sissoko should move out of the way. He's got good money on this game.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

He can't get on the ball because the team is playing hoofball and just not passing it all.
  6. Someone please fucking shoot on target. The fuck is with these rugby drop goal attempts.
  7. Needs hanging if we lose this. Absolutely disgraceful tactics. The guy is an utter fucking moron - he can't just find a good team and leave it, he has to change things every fucking game just so ha can rub his own ego and say "we won cos of me".

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Playing in the number 10 role watching the ball sail over his head constantly.
  9. Ben Arfa came short to Williamson looking for the ball. Williamson hoofs it to Ameobi.

Aye, watching it again it's pretty tame stuff. I think the reaction of the players (on both sides) made matters alot worse and contributed more to the two reds than anything else. One of those situations where if the ref makes a quick decision it'll be a yellow for both players, but because he walks in clearly unsure of what to do whilst both teams kick off and start pantomime wrestling/squabbling, the delay gives the ref time too much time to think, resulting in a red that reflects the aftermath of the incident more than the incident itself. This is why Pierluigi Collina was such a great referee and why the game needs more refs of his standard. He'd have been in there like a flash with yellow cards already out and diffused the entire situation with a firm caution for both players, giving absolutely noone the chance to get a word in. This referee was unfortunately far too weak, he had effectively lost control of the situation and was doing nothing to calm things because he couldn't even find the Norwich player who started it all for a couple of minutes - surely refs should at this level should be a bit more competent than that?
  11. Well we've been passing it quite well lately, so what style of play change would be needed to facilitate them two then. Baffling comment that. We've passed it alright from defense to midfield this season (whereas in 12/13 we were just launching it from Krul/the defenders), but for the most part even with the improvement in the style of play from last year we're still effectively playing "blind" rushed passes all too often when transitioning from from midfield to attack (i.e. get the ball into "danger zones" and more chances come our way, or so Pardew's theory goes). A faux carpet football team if you will. That's why so often when we get the ball forward there's usually noone in the box - we just don't build anything up at all from midfield to attack. Cabaye especially had the primary responsibility for playing that "hit and hope" ball. Clutching at straws here, but with Cabaye gone and noone else really having the vision/technique to try to play the "hit and hope" ball well enough for Pardew's liking, I'm therefore hoping that Pardew is referring to us passing the ball on the deck even more, i.e. being more patient in the opposition third when we transition from midfield to attack, which will then get Marveaux and Hatem more involved. Back in 12/13 during the Christmas period when Cabaye was injured and Marveaux was thrown into the team, we randomly played a surprisingly good brand of carpet football against ManU and Arsenal, with Marveaux looking a damn good player in those games - so if we want to consider Pardew's thinking in all of this, I think that brief period could be very relevant to his quote here. Or to put it another way, Pardew knows we're capable of playing a more patient, creative brand of football, but he just doesn't trust or prefer it, but is now open to it because his chief protagonist in the "hit and hope" style of play was sold. But again, that's clutching at straws. He could be thinking that we ought to revert to hoofball again without Cabaye here to create chances...

    Loïc Remy

Thought Remy deserved a red and Johnson a yellow at the time, and if anything the referee's decision to send Johnson off was harsh and seemed to be a case of "well, I sent the other guy off for losing it, and the entire opposition team are on my back now, plus the other guy seems to be trying to hide from me - may as well even things out here". Going to watch it again as by the reaction in here I feel like I saw an entirely different incident.

Someone has actually done a pretty good job there of separating the yolks from the whites and keeping the yolks in the shell. I'm now feeling alot more positive about this transfer.
