Its entirely understandable from Rafa. I'm sure Merino will get a good half hour (probably for Shelvey) later on. I'm not worried about Lejuene in the slightest.

He won't be going anywhere right now. Things are ticking along nicely and we might get taken over soon. If we have a decent January, the debacle of the summer will seem a world away.

I'm certain Lejuene will play. Clark was below average against Liverpool and played for Ireland, that's a double whammy for Rafa. It will be Shelvey and Merino in the middle, that's the main thing.

If not then I still consider him up for grabs (and he's doing a superb job of putting himself in the shop window), and Klopp should be tapping this lad up in the meantime. Would be a big upgrade on Emre Can - whose positional awareness is a massive liability (ball watches quite often, doesn't track runs from deep) for a kamikaze attacking team. They really do require a savvy defensive anchor in midfield, not necessarily a destroyer though. Merino ticks all the boxes imho.
