I'd take Lennon and Bent, wouldn't want the others. There's a reason they want rid. Didn't think you'd accept other clubs' cast-offs btw. Most players sold are cast-offs, just depends on the quality of the cast off. All of the above for those prices would enhance our squad, some of them straight into the 1st team. I don't mind good business, and they would be good business. Ramos thinks Kaboul may have moved into the Premiership too early but isn't writing him off. He may still go to WBA on a season long loan, other clubs are also in the mix for a loan. Of the others, Spurs won't sell Bent for £8m while Sunderland are in regular contact, Chimbonda may go for £4m, Lennon a bit more than £6m and Hudd may possibly go to Blackburn as part of a deal for Bentley, depends on who Ince actually wants to be added to his squad. Seems like mostly s*** clubs are the only ones interested, giving a truer valuation of their worth. Newcastle and Wham are the only clubs showing interest in Lennon. Newcastle have also made noises about Chimbonda, Pompey want Kaboul. Not all exactly s*** clubs. BTW, the Sun is saying that Spurs won't sell Lennon to Newcastle as they want to use him as bait to get Bentley. That's not true, Lennon has refused point blank to move to Blackburn.

This fella said they were schoolmates back when he was still with the scum. Continued to say it when Bentley was at Norwich and Blackburn, no reason to doubt him now. Did Bentley text him just to say he'd decided to divert to Manchester? Blackburn International Airport shuts at midday on a Monday.

I don't disagree at all, Lennon is 21 and has plenty of time to work on his game and improve a lot. The big question is will he work on his game to make the improvement. A lot is said of London being a big pull for a player to sign. Lennon is a good example of the bright lights being too much of a distraction to the detriment of his performances. Ramos has read the riot act at him with no noticeable difference. A move to Newcastle (or anywhere away from London) could be a good move for everyone concerned.

Where did you hear that? There's no bid on the table, but they are now talking about numbers rather than just asking about his availability for the past couple of months or so. Still early days but progress on what had gone on before. Heard anything about us signing Lennon then? Nothing earth shattering tbh. I've said before that Newcastle had enquired about him but stopped short of a bid. There has been recent contact but I don't think it's gone further than just updating what they had been told before. Spurs have been saying they are looking for around £9m, if they are keen to get him of the books, I could imagine the price coming down to £7-7.5m but I'd be very surprised to see it drop to £6m. There's a thread on a Spurs forum, 6 pages long and growing, saying that the scum are interested. Reading between the lines, it seems like Lennon's agent is trying to engineer a move with the expectation that Bentley will be replacing him sooner rather than later, especially now that Blackburn have got their new manager appointed. Personally, I don't think Lennon is technically good enough to be in Whinger's thoughts for too long. What is certain is that Ramos doesn't rate Lennon, sees too many good positions with no end delivery. Bentley is a different kettle of fish, a high percentage of good quality crosses, Ramos wants him and Spurs are trying hard. There's an good thread on KD's forum about Bentley, one of the posters there is a good mate of Bentley since schooldays and was out with him in Spain. Bentley will make the move if it can be done, Spurs are trying hard to make it happen. If it does, and I expect it will, Lennon will be only making up the squad numbers.

Villa seem to be firming up their interest in Robbo. Brummie will be pleased!

Sounds like Gomes will be the new Spurs keeper.

Nope you're wrong. Bentley said he wants to play "European football". He said champions league first, then said "well at least Europe" which in a way, is a come and get me plea. you're dreaming pal, a pal of mine met Bentley a month back in Malia, Liverpool is the only place he wants to go Bentley was in Marbella last month with his mates.......................... http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g160/Nicola_Dunphy/167_2.jpg

And yet if he was being linked to us we'd all be going mental about it and saying how we're so pleased that we're getting in some class to replace Milner(!) Have you seen him play? I haven't, so I can't say whether he'd be a good signing or not. If you have seen him, then by all means say he's sh*te if that's what you think - if not, then please stop the tedious tendency of this board to praise players we're linked with and slag off players linked with other clubs (usually Spurs) without ever having seen them play properly in either scenario. Are you taking this piss or what? Any player linked to us on this board is always either too good for us or complete s***. Yet if he ends up going to another club suddenly we've missed out on a good player No, my point was quite clear - you dismissed him out of hand (said they'd be better of with Carlos Santana) and I was saying that unless you've seen him play (I haven't, so I'm not commenting) then why are you saying he's rubbish? Who knows, he might be, but unless you've seen him play for at least a game or two then you look pretty foolish making a judgement on a player (be it positive or negative) on no other basis than he's signing for another club. Simple. Wouldn't get too worked up about it, Fiorentina are saying they never said what the Sun said they said! And they haven't accepted a bid for Santana from Spurs (according to Fiorentina, not the Sun).

I heard you had just signed Bentley. Where's all the money coming from? Probably coming out of the season ticket hikes! If it is true that we've got him for £9.5m that is an amazing bit of business imho. That would be a good price for an English player but Spuds problems are in their defence and instead of sorting them that'll be five attacking midfielders you've signed this summer; Modric, Bostock, Santos, Bentley and Santana! What a waste. At this rate I reckon we'll still do the double over you! If we still have the same defence as last season, you could easily be right! It's great for that amount of business to have been sorted before the window officially opens but I still think there are still at least 3 signings to be made, probably 4, possibly 5 or even 6. A GK is a necessity (or maybe 2), 1 or 2 CD's and a quality DM should be priorities also, plus a striker to replace Berbatov when he goes, which seems more likely than if he goes. If deals can be done, there will be a whole load of departures as well. BTW, no one has been calling Santana except for the Sun although, tbf, they were the first to call Modric.

Chimbonda? No, probably not, but yes says random Spurs blog

A Spurs ITK is saying Chimbonda's price is £4m but Newcastle are refusing to go that high. Don't know how true that is but I would have thought he is worth that, he's ok at RB and CB, less so at LB. On playing ability I personally wouldn't sell him, but Ramos doesn't rate him at all. -
Where? I'd love us to sign SWP, have always rated him. One was from a journo from the Express on a Spurs forum, the other from the Independent, though I see that article has changed from Portsmouth have bid to Portsmouth are waiting in the wings. I rate SWP too, he's wasted his career while stuck in the Chelsea reserves. Far better than Lennon ever will be though I'd prefer Bentley to SWP as he offers a bit more versatility.

The Sun says Spurs have agreed a deal with Fiorentina for Mario Santana for £4m http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1315217.ece Great, just what we need, another attacking midfielder!
-
SWP on his way to Pompey for £10m per 2 journos.

The absence of a hard DM (and a quality GK/quality CB) generate more threads on Spurs forums than anything else. What formation Ramos will use comes a close second. Ramos usually plays 4-4-2 but there are significant defensive frailties at the present time. Until the shopping is complete, it's near impossible to guess what Ramos will opt for.
-
Levy's starting positions aren't always his finishing positions. All a bit academic though as Lennon apparently won't be a part of any deal. I'd guess that nothing much will happen until Ince or whoever is appointed as the next manager.
-
Maybe the best option would have been to have got him signed up the Euros started. He had been linked with Newcastle for quite a time, the management must have realised there was likely to be more competition for his signature/his price would go up once he showed his ability in the tourno.

There is a degree of accuracy in the clubfanzine article but it seems to be more sorting out the options for what happens when Berbatov leaves, which again looks to be inevitable. Three clubs bidding and all edging closer to the bar set by Levy. -
Just heard that on Five Live "Five Live understands that Spurs reached agreement etc...." Apparently no agreement yet. I said yesterday morning: http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=50015.4325 I believe that Blackburn are now asking for Lennon in p/ex, don't know how Lennon feels about it.

Sky are saying Arsenal have bid for Arshavin to replace the Barca bound Hleb.

Realistic yes. Depends who the alternatives are though for whether I'd want him. I don't think he's a great deal more than Milner with pace. £7m for Milner, £5m for Lennon then I'd take it (assuming similar wages etc). Lennons pace gives us a better option than Milner if we want to vary 4-3-3 and 4-4-2. Also remember when Gillespie first signed he was all pace a varied end product. Only really kicked on after the summer. I know Lennon is a bit older, but given the right targets to aim for maybe........... In that scenario then yes obviously I would too - it's an upgrade for less money. My point was that if the choice is between Lennon and SWP, I'd want the latter as it's more of an upgrade IMO. If SWP is available, I'd be disappointed if we went for Lennon. Can't argue with that at all, I think SWP is a vastly superior player who has suffered from lack of playing time. A relative of Robert Segal (Bentley's agent) is saying that Bentley wants back to London and would be happy at Spurs (though I guess he would be happier at Chelsea). Blackburn are said to be wanting £18m which is £5m more than Spurs want to pay. I believe Spurs would be wanting around £10m for Lennon but he won't be moving until there is a replacement in, whether that be Bentley or someone else.

I don't share your confidence.
