Not in the Dutch squad that finished bottom of their group for the Uefa u19 championships that start next week. Incidentally, is Andy Carroll injured? He seems to have been left out of the England squad for the finals, he played in some of the qualifiers. If he's just been left off the list on the FA website, the finals are on Eurosport starting next Monday

There was talk a while ago that Forecast and Joe Martin were Southampton targets but not seen or heard anything since. IIRC, they were being touted for season long loans but Joe Martin (Alvin's boy) was sold last week to Blackpool. TF from what I've seen of him has decent potential but not great, maybe Championship standard. I think David Button, the England u19 keeper has far more potential than Forecast, but that's not saying he'd necessarily make Premiership quality either. I'm hearing that Forecast will be signing for Southampton this week. Confirmed. Wish him well for the future. From what I've been told this morning, he'll probably be first-choice 'keeper if they don't bag Richard Wright. Which is a likely situation. Do you know if it's true that Spurs have paid £500k to Southampton now plus a further £500k at the end of the season to wipe out the £5m instalments payable for Gareth Bale? That's what I've been told, sounds too good to be true. I know that Forecast was some of the bargain to wipe out some of the £5M, yes. I'm not exactly sure how much was going to be paid, but I know that the deal was £3M in appearances and an extra £2M based on CL qualification. So that £1M + Forecast + possibly first option on loanees or other youth players to go is probably about right. They did a similar deal with Arsenal for the Walcott money. Great deal for Spurs then, stumping up £6m plus Tommy instead of £8m and possibly £10m. I 've got some sympathy for the Southampton fans though. I think I'm right in saying that the club were bled dry by the previous chairman and as a result the crown jewels from the Youth Cup side of not so long ago have all gone for not a lot. Shame. If I'm doing the previous chairman a disservice, apologies.

Not certain how you think I'm guessing when I said I hadn't heard anything.

Gossip from Spurs training ground......... Bale and King fully fit (for the time being) Tainio on his way Gardner on his way when Stoke offers a salary that he can live with Diego Capel not coming so Lennon stays Keane staying, Liverpool won't offer £20m. Keane is ok with that. Berbatov got the arsehole because no acceptable bid for him as yet. Gomes is at the training ground so seems like the work permit has come through. Gio settling in well and is impressing Bentley hoping to be completed by Thursday

Wouldn't argue with any of that.

gonna say it again - liverpools transfer targets!!!!   But still quite possibly will happen. A near identical situation to Carrick's move. Carrick's head turned by Man Utd, the only team he would leave Spurs for etc.... Levy agreed he could leave if the right offer came in. Man Utd originally offered Wes Brown plus £3m,turned down, but the right offer, £18.6m. eventually came in, Carrick left. Keane's head turned by Liverpool, the team he supported as a boy, the only team he would leave Spurs for etc.... Levy agreed he could leave if the right offer came in. Liverpool offered swap with Crouch, turned down. Then Crouch plus £3m, turned down. Liverpool and Spurs are still talking, I think Keane will go.
-
Of course you do, it because you full of s***. One of Crouch's mates says that Redknapp will be putting in an increased bid. Or at least that's what Redknapp has told PC. Can't say I never told you.

Got to the Uefa Cup Final though. That ought to count for something I suppose.
-
Aye but the years we were in Europe, we obviously built our reputation in the rankings. Glad to see these UEFA rankings actually count for something like. On the rankings over the past 12 months, Newcastle are joint 322nd in the world. http://www.iffhs.de/?10f42e00fa2d17f73702fa3016e23c17f7370eff3702bb1c2bbb6f28f53512

Rather ironic as it's being said it's Newcastle who have bid £6.3m whilst Spartak want closer to £16m. As I know there's a couple here who are members, here's the link................. http://coys.sportsmaestros.com/index.php?showtopic=104087 Have you ever been right with your ITK-bollocks ever? I can't believe that you just don't give it up, tbh, surely no one believes what this joker says? I've been right often. I'm not saying Newcastle are in for Pavlyuchenko, someone else is. The suggestion is that the agent has told us to try to create a bidding war, don't know if it's true. You can take it or leave it. You just said that we have a £6.3m bid for him, but I suppose that doesn't mean we're in for him As for you being right, you must have a lower ratio than the f***ing News of the World. I am not saying that Newcastle are in for Pavlyuchenko, someone else is saying that Newcastle are in for him. Do you understand now? I am not saying anything, I am passing on something someone else is saying. Time will tell whether it's true or not.

Bernardo Balbuena, the General Manager of Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno, says that a deal for Spurs to sign their captain and Paraguayan international CB Nelson Barbrera is close. The club is currently managed by Ossie Ardiles who is an expert on defensive qualities in a player and the club previously sold Diego Gavilan to Newcastle. A Spurs fan based in South America said... OK - first the bad news. He's not a regular for Paraguay (who have a very good team with a strong defence & are currently leading the S.American World Cup qualifiers - beat Brazil 2-0 last month). He's not lightning fast either. Now the good news - He won't break the bank (expect us to pay £2-3M for him). He is fvck-off strong & brave & times his tackles well. Fancies himself as a bit of a footballer & doesn't just boot it long. Has a sweet left foot - expect to see some nice 50 yard passes out to the RW. Very good in the air, not a particularly powerful header of a ball but just gets there & wins the thing. He also scores quite a few goals & is a penalty specialist & is a leader on the pitch. He's an upgrade on Dawson IMHO. Still can't get too excited about it if it happens.

This was posted on a Spurs MB before 9am this morning: I've been told by family in Newcastle (and they have told me comes from a reliable source), and so thought I would pass on. I have heard that Kevin Keegan is not expected to be the Newcastle Manager at the beginning of this upcoming season, and that Alan Shearer will take charge (maybe why Shearer didn't take the Blackburn Job when he was reportedly no.1 choice and offered the job) with Denis Wise overseeing things. Apparently Ashley only wanted Keegan in to appease fans and try and keep the barcodes up. I chose not to post it as I only post here what I believe to be accurate at the time I post it.

Fat, over-rated 20 goals a season midfielder don't you know! Scolari doesn't want Lampard to leave, so I'm not convinced he will. Not down to Scolari, all Lampard has to do is invoke the clause. Maybe Scolari offering him the £150k pw he wants might change his mind, Scolari telling Lampard he doesn't want him to leave won't make a jot of difference.

Hey look. I found a table where Spurs are already in the CL places http://www.purelymancity.com/wp-content/5yearspendingcomparison.jpg Proves that money doesn't necessarily buy success and shrewd signings can produce success on the pitch without a dent in the wallet. Even more reason not wanting to be like Chelsea.

Talksport are probably picking up on the Bentley at the training ground rumour. Bentley's old schoolmate on GG says that Bentley is still up north and nothing will be happening until DB meets with Ince on 7th July.
-
If the numbers being suggested are anywhere near accurate, I wouldn't be devastated. I still believe that Keane has only really played well with 1 striker (Berba) and looks less able with more arm waving with any others. I'd have no complaints about Crouchie coming back either. Same here tbh. Liverpool would be retards to pay the amount thats been rumoured. Talksport just reported that Keane wants Liverpool move. He's not even in my first X1 for next seasdon anyway so cant really say i'm bothered. How could you not have a player who scored 15 league goals in your first team? The likelihood of Keane getting 15 league goals next season is extremely unlikely if Berbatov has gone. Ramos has said before that Keane is very good at what he does although he does limit the options available to the coach. I don't necessarily share KD's wish to see only one up front, though I think it is important for Ramos to have that option available to him.

All you'd accumulate is high expectations. I understand what you are trying to say however know that with Mike Ashley's billions, we do not want to be another Chelsea. But then again, not spending much will not do much either. I want so much for us to be the next Chelsea. Its looming larger and larger that we will not get near Champ League in our lifetime. i want so much to have some silverware or get into the Champ League before the next 10 years but does not look like happening, more like end of many of our lifetimes optimistically. i dunno about you guys but i want us to be the next Chelsea. I can't believe you said that, I find it hard to imagine any true fan wanting their team to be like Chelsea tbh. Yes, Newcastle fans want to see their team in the CL just as I want to see Spurs in the CL. But do you want Newcastle to earn the right to play there or buy it? Of course money has to be spent, that almost goes without saying, but paying half the team £100k+ pw or buying players to stop them moving to a rival (e.g. SWP) isn't the answer. I wouldn't want that for Spurs and a lot of Chelsea fans who supported them long before Abramovich turned up think the same as well. If and when Spurs get into the CL, I want to feel pride for the achievement, just like Newcastle fans did a decade or so ago, not because our wallet is bigger than someone else's.

Tom Huddlestone signs a new 5 year contract. Bentley wasn't at the Spurs training ground, it was the Italian Youth GK Mirko Ranieri whose joining the Academy. A case of mistaken identity though from the pic on the OS, can't say he looks anything like Bentley.

I still believe that Keane has only really played well with 1 striker (Berba) and looks less able with more arm waving with any others. I'd have no complaints about Crouchie coming back either. Interesting. I guess with this Keane talk the Villa rumours make a lot more sense for Spurs. Could potentially have Villa and Crouch as your front pair next season then. That would probably be a pretty good partnership actually. The big if is whether Villa would actually move to WHL. I know for a fact that we've been working on him (or his agent to be more exact cos Spurs don't do tapping up ), but there are far bigger clubs than Spurs wanting him. Still somewher between highly unlikely and no bloody chance imo. There's a 1001 threads going on in the Spurs forums debating whether a) should Keane go and b) has Ramos lost it by wanting Crouch. Keane has always admitted that he is a Liverpool fan, if that's what he wants, let him go provided that the money is right and and we have the right replacements in. As for Crouch, one fella said that there were a lot of Spurs fans not rating Kanoute until he went to Sevilla. I'm in total agreement. Maybe Crouch wouldn't be my first choice but if Ramos thinks he's the one he wants, that's fine by me. BTW, there's a lot of rumour about Bentley being at the training ground, signing later day etc. That may be a bit of wishful thinking but it does now seem to be pretty close. Bentley signing would then make Lennon available I suppose.
