  1. Really disappointed Poch never gave him more time. He joined Spurs when he was really raw and has improved a lot in his time out on loan with Sunderland. I would have liked him to have had another year on loan but maybe Poch couldn't see him getting to the level Poch wanted. Who knows? Hope he does well for you and we see him and you back in the PL next season.
  2. Only the ankle injury with the England u21's. He was normally ok riding some pretty tough challenges.
  3. Agreed. He was superb for Brentford and was a certainty for the Spurs squad. Then he got his injury on England u21 duty and something went amiss with him and Poch. When he was eventually fit he was loaned out to West Prom which was on the face of it a lousy loan, but there were rumours that Poch thought working under Pulis might bring him back on the straight and narrow. Nothing changed, he hardly played for WBA and he's never been given a chance by Poch since. I don't think anyone really knows what went on or why it went so horribly wrong, all the fans remember is a seriously talented youngster getting MOTM awards almost every week under Warburton. Wish him all the best, he is talented for sure and I think this is one sale that could come back to haunt us
  4. Don't know whether he has got enough time to save you from the drop. I hope so.
  5. The PL u21 league is being replaced with an u23 from next season. It's reckoned to help bridge the gap between the Academy and the 1st team. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10637493/Premier-League-chief-Richard-Scudamores-crusade-to-lift-England-football.html
  6. 73 - Newcastle U21 sub. Daniel Barlaser replaces Adam Armstrong. Still 4-1
  7. Newcastle U21 sub - 47 mins. Greg Olley replaces Gael Bigirimana
  8. U21 Half time substitution. Andros Townsend gets an impressive 45 mins game time (1 goal and 2 assists) and is replaced by Aaron McEneff.
  9. HT 4-1 Michael Richardson on 37 mins The ball falls to Newcastle's Michael Richardson after a corner and he shoots from distance.
  10. Being played today at the Training Centre. Spurs 4-0 after 27 minutes. Coulibaly, Townsend, MiniBale (McEvoy) and Kane.
  11. Game postponed due to waterlogged pitch. A word of appreciation for making such an early decision saving a wasted journey!
  12. Spurs v Newcastle U21's playing at Bishop Stortford's ground tonight. Spurs squad........ Archer, Coulibaly, Fryers, Gallifuoco, Kane, Lameiras, McEneff, McEvoy, Miles, Smith, Stewart, Townsend, Veljkovic, Ward.
  13. Spurs are the opposition for Newcastle's u18's tomorrow. Perhaps not as high in your thoughts as the NE derby though......................
  14. Barnett was agent to 3 players at Spurs. Bale is one, Caulker is another. He is also Gylfi's agent. German club have today enquired about his availability. There is a pattern emerging ......
  15. From AVB ..... When I was 17 I met Sir Bobby Robson and my life changed. At the time he was the Porto manager and lived in my block. One day we got talking.....and he invited me to come to watch the team in training. I sent a lot of time with Sir Bobby. He inspired me. Some people are just born lucky. http://twitdoc.com/view.asp?id=89437&sid=1X0D&ext=DOC&lcl=AVB-Life.doc&usr=seanjameskelly&doc=133180713&key=key-15uwywp8pkueysnt7otb
  16. the stadium is being used for football and summer athletic events The stadium may be used for football in the future, but the plan appears to be not use 20000 of the permanent seating because the seats are too far away from the pitch and instead use 19000 temporary seats placed on the athletics track which would have to be removed for an athletics event. Additionally, the temporary seating cannot be tiered as it would affect the viewing of the permanent lower tier seating. The priority should have been to have a permanent legacy sorted out before the construction started so that the design would have taken the future use into account. Surely it has to be a pre-requiste that the stadium is fit for purpose for its future use? As it is, I agree with Stifler, the Olympic Stadium is nothing but a white elephant, as is much of the Olympic facilities.
  17. Bumped as there's more info coming out of KUMB. Should be a unique footballing experience when West Ham do move in ............ I was at a company review day plus piss up last week and the park legacy development contracts manager from Balfour Beatty was one of the speakers as we are one of his preffered clients. He said that it would be improbable if we , West Ham, were tenants in a fully revamped stadium. much before 2017/18, the roof is beong tendered for now as is the retractable seating at a cost in total of £200 milion, he said West ham had to find the majority of this money and also said Newham council will NOT stump up any significant cash and that it would need outside investment. Talks are at a very early stage and as yet apart from a few rock concerts this summer and the world athletics championships there is nothing else planned. Stadium is at the moment mothballed all water services drained down and most temporary buildings removed or in the process of beong removed as is the spectator gallery at the pool being teplaced by big glass window. Another poster said........... Sitting in the upper tier you will be looking across the running track, whether it has seats or not the track will be there still. Behind each goal upstairs the seats will be empty, unused. If we use the clubs figures of 54,000 capacity of which 19,000 will be lower tier leaving 35,000 in the upper tier and with the current upper tier capacity being 55,000 and it will stay that way as those seats are needed for when the athletics is in town, that leaves 20,000 seats unable to be used in football mode. None of that is based of supposition insinuation or fear, all facts from the clubs plans as shown to the SAB........I'm on the SAB I have seen the plans, every thing I say is based on what I saw. If what I say is untrue then I imagine other SAB members on here would be pulling me up. I don't deal in supposition http://www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=129296&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=1960#p3630008 Better news is that Haringey Council are buying land for Spurs to use in the development of their own new stadium http://www.haringeyindependent.co.uk/news/10225668._/?ref=ms

  19. I'm not too concerned by Defoe's injury, he's in a bad run of form as is Adebayor. My guess is that Dempsey will play as the sole striker and Holtby will start in the VdV role that Dempsey has failed to successfully fill. With Bale and Lennon in good form and Holtby by all accounts being sensational in training, I think Spurs might have just enough to scrape a win.
  20. So they're not paying the £6m quoted the other day? Unbelievable. £1/1.2m for a 5 month loan with no option to buy doesn't sound too bad to me.
  21. Jake Livermore going on loan to QPR for the rest of the season. No option to buy. Spurs getting a good wedge.
  22. Think there could be some bargains on offer though. Huddlestone (talented passer but slow as f***) and Livermore (wholehearted but with average ability) unbelievably are both England internationals. Both are reckoned to be available for £6m ...... each that is, not for the two! Bargains from Spurs. Sounds like Hudd is off to Fulham permanently, Everton asked for Livermore on loan for the rest of season and Spurs have said no.
  23. Think there could be some bargains on offer though. Huddlestone (talented passer but slow as fuck) and Livermore (wholehearted but with average ability) unbelievably are both England internationals. Both are reckoned to be available for £6m ...... each that is, not for the two!
  24. L'Equipe say that he is now talking to Spurs http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Belhanda-interesse-les-spurs/340829
  25. The first mention of Holtby came a few days ago from Jason Burt of the Telegraph, who sees AVB socially, been friends since AVB was with Chelsea with Mourinho. The speculation intensified yesterday following a chance meeting with a well respected poster on COYS. What he said was........... I just arrived in Munich on a Lufthansa flight and am about to get off, when I see that the entire schalke team is sitting behind me including Lewis Holtby. Luckily we had to take a bus to the terminal and I spoke to Holtby about coming to Spurs. He looked a bit coy about it but huntelaar said straight away it's all done and he's coming. Have to take my next flight now. Will post again this evening ....................... UPDATE : have arrived now in Romania. so here we go this is exactly what happened. On the flight to Munich- and read the German papers Bild etc- looking for news about Holtby (front page story btw was Sylvie and Rafa splitting up)- read that he Holtby, had turned down Schalke's offer to double his wages and he would definitely not renew his contract. I was sitting in row 18 in the middle of the plane, and the steward says you can exit through the back door, so I turned around and to my astonishment, I saw the entire Schalke team had been sitting right behind me. they were on their way to Qatar btw, training camp etc. So I saw Holtby and thought I'll have a chat with him. Luckily we had to get a bus to the terminal, so i got in the bus went straight up to him, and told him I was a big big Tottenham fan, that I've just got back from the Reading game and that we've heard he might be coming to us. He smiled a bit and obviously didn't want to say anything, but Huntelaar- who was really nice, and friendly as the Dutch often are, just chipped in and said literally-"It's a done deal, all signed and sealed". Holtby looked a bit embarassed, and then said "well there'll be a statement in the next few days". He speaks perfect English btw-'cos his father's English, without the trace of a any German accent.and then we started to talk about Tottenham and WHL and AVB. The conversation went like this: he told me, he'd been over for the West Ham game, and he was really surprised at how poor West Ham were as they are in the top half of the table. I told him that they are a home team, and don't perform away. I said that WHL is an old fashioned stadium, and he said he thinks that it's great, the atmosphere is unbelievable, and that he loved being there. Then we talked about the team, and it was obvious that he'd seen every game, and how impressed he's been. I said that I'd been a bit sceptical about AVB, because I thought Harry was so great, and he seemed surprised, saying that he's a great young coach. I agreed with him and said I've been won over, and think we're playing some really good football, which he agreed with too, and really thinks we have a lot of very good players. We talked a bit about the PL in general, and about the Chelsea/QPR game, which we both laughed about. Altogether we spoke for around ten minutes. I couldn't take any pictures 'cos the bus was so crowded, but I take it that people on here know who I am, and will trust me- but all in all. Expect him to arrive now or in the summer. I personally think it will be the summer, but everything today pointed towards him becoming a Spurs player. I got a great buzz from meeting him and Huntelaar- to whom I said. we've been waiting for you too, he laughed an said, you just keep waiting. ................ Small Update: just remembered that he said that he thought that the game at Sunderland was our best performance this season- so he's clearly been watching us regularly, and he asked me about the cup game against Coventry, who they were, when exactly the game is etc. COYS If he joins Spurs, it won't be till the summer when he's out of contract and can go for free. No point in him going to Doha for a training camp with Schalke if he was moving now and not like Levy to pay a fee if he can avoid it.
