I'm off to bed. Like Shak, I look forward to waking up tomorrow to read the meltdown. /epic reverse jinx

I will be sound asleep for the last 6 hours of the window. I am glad that this shit is coming to an end soon.

I think a lot of people are missing this exact point. We haven't gone out and splashed cash everywhere but we've gotten some very good signings for very reasonable prices. I'm excited to see how they pan out - a few of them are already looking like absolute steals (especially Cabaye). Moneyball. Moneyball worked. That's why I said it. I wasn't being an asshole Yankees fan. You Man City loving cunt. Seems like Pip has not read Moneyball? I have. The Yankees don't exactly follow the Moneyball principle. Neither do City.

Aye. Ban 'em until the end of the window
-
Perma ban, to be honest. That's not even close to being funny.

Don't forget the FIP His wGCAA (weighted goals conceded against average) and xDIG (expected defending independent goalkeeping) is far superior to Raylor's, however, he's miles behind Raylor's wFK% (weighted free kick percentage) which accounts for pitch conditions, wind, and wall placement. We need to sign people. I'm fucking losing it. Holy shit

He's probably a +10 UZR/150 guy, but that's not taking into account stadium and crowd effects. The sample size is pretty small, though, so we can't be sure yet. We're only in his age 20 season after all, so there's not much to project. But I don't think it's a doubt that most of his WAR will come from defending.
-
Stats, pip. Get em out! You know you have them, man. What is his VORP? I'm not even sure that you know what VORP stands for He's probably a 1.5 fWAR, 2 bWAR player right now with the potential to be a 3 fWAR, bWAR player in his prime
-
Mertesacker is much smoother and he's not a rough, hard defender like Samba and the likes of Vidic are.
-
Young players always tend to look shit when they play for a shit team. But anyway, I don't think he's any good. He has decent technique but he's slow and that's not what we need at the moment.

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

It sounds like he's really enjoying the physical element of the game here. What a hard cunt. -
I admit that I haven't seen Gotze more than ten times but it doesn't take a seasoned football watcher to see who's a good player and who's not. This kid is the real deal. He plays it simple and nice most of the time and yet he's still so effective. It's not like he's a full-of-tricks player who will drift in and out of the game. This kid looks for the ball and sees passes that most other players don't, and he's composed enough - at 19! - to be able to successfully make those passes.
-
Fucking get in. I want some proof of life!
-
If we signed Philip Lahm some people on this forum would complain about him being right-footed and playing at LB.
-
A part of me still doesn't believe that he's here for a medical. We need some pics of him, man.
-
Because Gotze is Germany's next big thing. His touch, control and vision is class and there's no doubt that he would be an asset to any team in the world now, including the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Whereas Carroll has had one good half-season and it was obvious that with his attributes, he would struggle in a team that played football on the ground i.e. he would struggle in any team wanting to qualify for the CL. 35m for Gotze now will be cheap when he gives you five world-class years as an attacking midfielder. I wouldn't take Carroll back for 20m now and there's probably only Spurs - who are desperate for a striker - that would.
-
He has a chance to be better than Enrique. From what I've seen and the general reports, he's probably worse than Cissokho and Pieters at the moment, but the potential is massive: like many managers and coaches have said, he could be a Maldini/Zanetti type. He could end up being the best of the lot because the other two are about to enter their prime whereas this kid is still 20.
-
Fuck off. Llorente will go for 20m+. He's a Chelsea/Arsenal-quality player. No chance.
-
Exactly If he signs and the title isn't changed then it obviously hasn't happened yet. I'm excited. Let's hope nothing comes in the way and we can complete the signing today. I'll be honest: I've actually been more worried about our LB situation than our ST situation because Ba is a serviceable striker, whereas playing without a natural LB leaves us completely unbalanced. Signing Santon enables us to have two natural FBs with him on the left and Simpson on the right, or him on the right and Ferguson on the left.

But he's had attitude problems that were mentioned by both Mourinho and Lippi, so that's a concern. Maybe he's been humbled after being sent out on loan, or maybe he thinks he's still a hotshot. mattis would be able to give more information on this, but at the time, from what I read, I had the impression that he was causing the same kind of problems that Balotelli was causing. He looked like a good player when I saw him, but I always thought that he wasn't the quickest and relied on his anticipation/positioning to snuff out attacks.
