Correct that PSR dictates everything, but that means we have to be ruthless in recruitment. We gave Howe too much control and now we're paying the price. This summer is a chance to correct the mistakes of last.
-
They’re also a good example of how recruitment is what matters most! If you hit on players, the floor is raised. If you miss, the manager has to perform miracles.
-
I was referring to Anderson.
-
Poor recruitment is coming home to roost. When he took over, the recruitment was incredible. We hit on every player (Bruno, Trippier, Botman, Isak). Now we miss on most players (Wissa, Elanga, maybe Woltemade). We also sold a world class player. Winning is mostly about recruitment. Man Utd bought 3 good players and they’re rocketing up the table. If our recruitment doesn’t get fixed, Howe will be sacrificed. But the next manager won’t be able to fix anything, see: Spurs.
-
Would you really? Elanga cost £55m and he can’t dribble past his man. We have no dribblers in the squad, except Gordon.
-
Created the first goal, won the ball for the second goal. Created two goals against Chelsea. Do people realise that without him, we’re toothless? It’s not his fault that the central midfield 3 cannot control games anymore. That’s the source of our issues.

Half the season done. We’re on 26 points. We have 10 more home games remaining. The target is 65 points. Let’s do this. H- Palace: 3 H- Leeds: 3 A- Wolves: 3 H- Villa: 3 A- Liverpool: 0 H- Brentford: 3 A- Spurs: 1 A- City: 0 H- Everton: 3 H- Man Utd: 3 A- Chelsea: 1 H- Sunderland: 3 A- Palace: 1 H- Bournemouth: 3 A- Arsenal: 0 H- Brighton: 3 A- Forest: 3 H- West Ham: 3 A- Fulham: 1 Total: 66 points. We’re 3rd, 5th and 6th in 3 xg tables I saw. I know we’ve been bad, but approximately 75% of the league are worse! Keep calm, do our job at home.

We are way behind last season based on the same matches. It’s going to require going on an exceptional run which we don’t look anything like we’re capable of.
-
Yeah. People are blaming him for not passing but he’s the only in our squad who would have got to that position.

Newcastle United 2-2 Chelsea (20/12/25) | post-match from pg. 45

Our midfield could not control the ball at 2-1. No one could take a touch and turn. They dominated and deserved the draw. -

That’s a clear pen. -
It’s a derby match away from home. We’re not going to win 3-0. We’ve defended well and are a good pass or two away from opening them up. They are pressing well and putting a lot of energy in, which won’t last.

Newcastle United vs. Tottenham Hotspur: 2/12/25 @ 20:15 (Sky Sports)
Taylor Swift replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
We’re only two points off last season comparing matches played against the same teams. However, we beat every single team we’re playing in the next 10 league matches. It’s time for our patented win streak, otherwise we will need to win a lot of difficult matches late in the season. -

Win and we're 2 points behind our likely competition for 4th and 5th (Chelsea, Spurs and Man Utd). -
Wise-scouted Kalulu. Yes to him. Looks pacy and good on the ball. Only 25 and Juve want to sell. The only soft spot in our squad is fullbacks.

Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season
Taylor Swift replied to a topic in Football
The good thing about AFCON is Mbeumo will also be gone. If Osula is a capable backup for Woltemade, the net effect of AFCON is positive for us IMO because Man Utd will be a challenger for the top 5. -
Exactly. Bruno and Murphy should have scored. Gordon had a good game but he needs support. Burn obviously cannot run up and down all game, especially with Traore there.
-
He drops deep like a false 9. But, to make it work we need to be able to move possession up with him, which we were struggling to do. Need attacking full backs to make use of the space.
-
So why did we release this news to the journalists? To calm fans down?
-
He’s dropping deep. Isak used to make runs behind the defence. In theory we should have more possession but that also means more pressure on the wingers to score. I think one of the central midfielders has to push up and make runs to compensate. Let’s see how we adjust.
