  1. Argentina v Germany will be epic.
  2. Best player of the side winning the WC gets it. 1994: Romário 1998: Zidane 2002: Ronaldo 2006: Cannavaro Only WC winners in WC years since the award was established. Ronaldinho should have won it in 2006 but he had a really shite WC, Ronaldo was really good in 2002, Zidane dominated 1998 so I see all that as being relatively justified. This year, however, Messi has been fucking unbelievable, and it'd be stupid if the best player of the winning team simply won it because he's had 7 good games. If Brazil wins it, who gets it? Most of their best players have had a shite season, and I don't see someone like Maicon winning it unless he scores a hat-trick or something (very unlikely). If the Germans win it, who do you give it? Muller? Ozil? They haven't done enough at club level, in comparison to someone like Cristiano or Messi. Maybe if Portugal wins it and Ronaldo scores 6 or more, then he'd be up for the award. I suppose the same argument applies with Robben. Other than those two, and Xavi, I don't think anyone's done enough in the season to be in contention, even if they go on to have a good run now.
  3. Finally someone made a gif http://i45.tinypic.com/2s6agqf.jpg
  4. He doesn't. He's an egotistical cunt who, like Shak said, thinks that the only player to give his all in football was Roy Keane. Just because someone rants and raves doesn't mean that they call a spade a spade. I'd say someone calmer, like Souness, actually calls a spade a spade, but backs it up with logic and not emotion.
  5. Robben's had an excellent season. Surely he's gotta be in the running for the WPofY award, even if Messi's the clear favourite.
  6. Mexico pressuring now. Maybe this ain't over yet.
  7. Nice goal. He'll probably do that against us in August.
  8. Suarez or Honda still, imo. The Italian bloke versus Slovakia for me Villa's was easily better than Suarez's. What does that have to do with the Italian goal against Slovakia? In response to the post before yours.

  10. Yet both those teams needed those two decisive incidents to go their way in order to win. True. That's why I mentioned these two incidents. The fact is, though, that no one feels either of those WCs was any less enjoyable because of those two incidents. I don't know anyone who has said either WC was shit because of the bad refereeing decisions. These things fade after a bit of time. As long as there isn't a major fuckup in the final or the semi-final, whichever team that wins the WC will deserve it, and that's all that you can ask really.
  11. I have to disagree there. Was the '86 WC ruined by the hand of God? Was the '06 WC ruined by Grosso diving to win a penalty for 10-man Italy to beat the Aussies? etc. etc. In time, these mistakes fade into the background because a football match is 90 minutes long; if a team's good enough they usually show it.
  12. I agree with the need for replay, dude. But bad decisions happen all the time in football, even at the highest levels. I mean, Barca were in the CL final last year thanks to a ref who missed four legitimate penalty claims by Chelsea. There's a bad offside decision every week in the Premiership, La Liga etc., so it's just expected. A replay would really help but a couple of bad decisions doesn't ruin a WC.
  13. Barry was hopeless. The amount of times that Ozil drifted into space to receive the ball when Barry, the defensive midfielder, was nowhere to be seen was really countless. That's not even mentioning how shit he was in giving the ball away for the third goal then getting raped by Ozil for the fourth.
  14. Horrible decision, but let's face it, it ain't the first in a WC and won't be the last. I've still really enjoyed this WC, especially everything after the first round of group games, like I have every other WC before. We've had some shocks, some big teams knocked out, some quality goals, some drama, lots of cards and now lots of goals. It's just a typical WC, imo.
  15. Heinze attacking the camera man is the best moment of the WC so far.
  16. This is a fucking entertaining match.
  17. Argentina are entering 'we're doing everything we can to get Messi a goal' mode. It's exactly what I do on FIFA when I have a two goal lead and Messi's in my team.
  18. That's the funniest thing that's happened in this WC
