  1. Has Anelka ever turned onto his left foot?
  2. Rooney looks a different player today than he did playing for England at the WC.

Can people stop referring to him as Arfa?

Look, this guy's one of the highest rated prospects in French football. He's quick, strong and has a stunning left-foot. He's had experience playing in the CL with both Lyon and Marseilles and won league titles with both clubs as well, so moving to the Premiership will not be a severe step-up, and I expect him to play well. The only question mark that he has is the reported lack of discipline and effort, but he's still just a kid. He's 23, and has played for two of the most successful clubs in France, so of course this kid is going to believe he's the real deal. But the fact that he's considering coming to us on loan tells me that he's going to try harder, because he's not waiting for one of the big clubs to swoop in and sign him. He's willing to come to a newly promoted team for a year to show the footballing world that he's a good player, and I take that as a sign of maturity and willingness to succeed, which will only help us. It really doesn't matter whether he stays. We're looking to survive; that's the priority. If we survive, our status as a Premiership team will attract players by itself so I'm not bothered about him committing to us for a only a year.
  5. We've started well. Good tracking back from Routledge.
  6. On the contrary, the smaller teams will have to play some of their youngsters because they won't be able to loan players from bigger clubs to fill places in the squad, which will help develop many youngsters who wouldn't have had the chance to begin with. It will also force the big clubs to be more selective about which youngsters to sign and thus will increase the supply of good youngsters in the league; the likes of Chelsea, City and Man Utd would not be able to sweep any good youngster in and loan them out anymore, because now they'd have to pay wages to the kids and also have to keep them happy while they play in the reserves, something I'm sure would be hard to do for most young, ambitious footballers.
  7. Decent thread by delima. Must be his first non-Man Utd reserve thread.
  8. Spain, easily. They dominate every match they play.
  9. van Marwijk's is probably better. 73% Source please. 6 draws and a defeat. Del Bosque's record: 30 wins, 2 defeats.
  10. van Marwijk's is probably better. 73%
  11. Del Bosque has a winning percentage of 93% as manager of Spain
  12. Who's world player of the year then? Surely gotta be Messi because 47 goals > a good World Cup.
  13. Congratulations to Spain, they were extremely disciplined, stuck to their tactics and I'm glad it paid off. If the Dutch had won, it would have been a travesty because of the way they've played over the past month. It was a final that summed up the tournament for me; not the most exciting, quite frustrating at times but still had some good moments that kept your attention.
  14. I hope it's an open game. Robben and van Persie can trouble the Spanish defense if they receive the ball in the right position. The best thing for the match would probably be an early Holland goal.
