We just have to win. Have to - and I don't care how we do it.

And he'd never heard of Keegan???????????? Really hard to believe!!!! Martins - Kevin who? Magpies striker did not know who manager was By James Pearson Last updated: 29th February 2008 Obafemi Martins has admitted when Newcastle United turned to fans' favourite Kevin Keegan he did not know anything about the 'Geordie messiah'. The Magpies were on the look-out for a new man at the helm in early January after Sam Allardyce was given his marching orders. Newcastle sensationally turned to former boss Keegan, who had the team challenging for the Premier League title last time around, but Martins did not know what the fanfare was all about. It was only after speaking with Toon team-mate Geremi that the former Internazionale forward was filled in on Keegan's past exploits. Important person "I honestly didn't know anything about him," he told The Sun. "But I quickly learned things and realised what an important person he was. "It was Geremi who told me all about Kevin Keegan. He rang while we were both out in Ghana - Geremi was with Cameroon - to say that Keegan had been this great player and what a good manager he was for Newcastle. "When I got back we had to introduce ourselves to each other. I had an ankle injury but Keegan told me he wanted me back and fit to help the team. I told him I wanted that, too." New deal Meanwhile, Martins has vowed to sign a fresh five-year Newcastle contract within the next fortnight. "It should be sorted out in the next two weeks. I want to stay here because I love the fans and they love me," he added. "I can imagine playing for Newcastle for many, many years. I have settled in well, the area is cool and I'm happy."

In my humble opinion one of the most important games in our recent history. Win and I fancy us to stay up, lose we're in even bigger trouble. Howay the lads!

Like i said yesterday: Following NUFC this season has become us watching other matches and hoping results go our way. This is just horrible, i get less bothered about the club every season, few more seasons like this and i'll be a rugby fan. My long suffering father has been going for over 50 years and he totally caught me by surprise when he told me he's thinking of not renewing next season as he's totally fed up with what's going on and it isn't any fun any more. If you knew him you'd be surprised too - the club is a massive part of his life and for him to even consider not renewing must mean things are really bad.

I dread to think what Viduka must have done to get overlooked for Smith.
-
I can see us losing the next 2 games though maybe we might scrape a point against Blackburn. 29 points won't be enough so we HAVE to beat Fulham, Reading and the mackems (deliberate lower case). If not we might be playing Doncaster Rovers and Carlisle next season.
-
no they did not Ok, we scored a few more goals, but we still conceded the same. The performances were very different I seem to remember. We of course got murdered 2-6 at home when Shearer gave us the lead but we weren't that bad in the 3-5 at Old Trafford. This season we've been the pits and that's putting it mildly.
-
They don't beat everyone 6-0 at home and 5-1 away though. Only us.
-
Faye scored. Other than that nothing. We were utterly destroyed again and Smith didn't get a 2 match suspension.
-
"Once again another annihilation of Newcastle United". Well, yes.
-
1 goal for and 11 against with Man U this season.
-
The stadium is really emptying.
-
And now the icing on the cake. 1-5.
-
All the signs are there but I'm not giving up yet. We so have to beat the teams near the bottom and not play like we did in the games against Derby.
-
Don't do it! I don't want a nightmare before I hit the sack.
-
Still 4 minutes left....
-
Wonder save from Harper. Close to 1-5.
-
40 year old legs Geremi for Milner.
-
Owen side netting. We are gonna win 5-4.
-
Smith with a shot on target - a good shot too. Am I on drugs?
-
Only thing he's done all day.
-
They are toying with us, so embarrassing to watch.
-
"Alan Smith doesn't do quite enough"
-
4-1 now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
We've made them angry now - good save from Harper.
