  1. Brilliant free kick from Baines to be fair. We've shit ourselves nicely here.
  2. Taylor looks decent going forward and catastrophic at the back.
  3. Steven Taylor. Holy shit. Running away from Arteta like he's got a disease. Awful.
  4. Best...just wide. The goal seems to have boosted our confidence quite a bit and deflated Everton. We're in control at the moment.
  5. Was a nice reverse from Williamson to set up Nolan for his chance. Half-decent move there.
  6. Shit cross from Nolan after getting it in a good area. Had three to aim for, hit none.
  7. Great save Harper... Definitely looking distinctly off the pace today.
  8. I could see how it could be taken out of context... "Live in Cork? I'd rather shoot myself..." must have originally been: "(Go see Boyzone) live in Cork (with Andy Carroll)? I'd rather shoot myself..."

    Players in public

Seems plausible enough to me...he probably lives very close by, knows the woman's son is a fan, grabbed a shirt and a photo and popped over. Not hard to envision any of that.

    Players in public

Not one of ours, and not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but really outstanding: Always makes me feel better to read this kind of thing.
  11. Tiote signing this deal gives the impression of several things: 1. Tiote is comfortable with spending the next few years in Newcastle. He feels that the club's ambitions can match his own. This is no small impression to give off when we're attempting to tie up other contracts (and sign players in the summer). 2. The club WILL reward high-quality players with high-quality contracts, but will not necessarily do so when (in their estimation) held to ransom. 3. If another club wants to sign Tiote, they will have to pay a large® transfer fee and large® wages. Again, in the UEFA Financial Fair Play era, this is no small thing. Ultimately, it's phenomenal news. Does a lot to lift the Carroll cloud. Can't see any downside at all.
  12. It's not about needing players, per se, it's about needing ambition. Players like Enrique will sign on as long as our club ambitions match their personal ones. Enrique is good enough to be a regular Spanish international, but only if he's regularly playing for a club that wants to (and - crucially - has a plan for) challenge for honours. As yet, we don't have that plan. We have a plan to stay up, and we certainly have a plan to make money from our assets, but we don't yet have that plan for honours. So Enrique will probably see his future now at a more ambitious club, since he himself is growing more ambitious. I don't think it's as big an issue for Tiote as he can be an Ivorian regular doing exactly what he's doing with us. And he may still feel he needs a year or two more seasoning before he thinks about a move. But it's deadly serious for Enrique now. And I'm sure hearing about the massive pay packet Carroll's getting doesn't hurt Enrique's desire to move either.
  13. http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/8851570.Enrique_cautious_on_new_contract_commitment/ Not exactly promising, this.
  14. Won't see a better 90 minutes from a fullback this season.
  15. Just to recap: Enrique was world class. Tiote was excellent. Lovenkrands was awful. Point is good, I suppose. Doesn't really feel good now though.
  16. The analysis of this match is the most blindingly obvious in the history of punditry.
  17. Charming to see the 8 year old kids sticking two fingers up at Barton. Well played, Blackburn.
  18. Typical from Jonas sadly. Great run from Enrique, sets him up, Jonas skies it into the stand.
  19. What a fucking dribble there - that would have been amazing from Enrique
  20. We have battered them 0-0 but you know how this story usually ends.
