  2. Can't see it. They'll bottle it v Man U
  3. Could also say if Mancini/City had handled the situation better they would be champions. Either way, they self destructed in spectacular fashion.

  5. Absolutely nothing new in that article. Earlier in the week a completely unreliable Dutch site soccernews.nl put Inter's and Man U's name in the hat for Douglas and claimed the Daily Fail as its source. Unsurprisingly, there's nothing in there. just some made up shit if you ask me. Source (in Dutch): http://www.soccernews.nl/news/152161/Newcastle_krijgt_concurrentie_van_United_en_Inter_voor_Douglas
  6. How many chances does he need man..
  7. Yep, that's what it says, although quotes in the article only refer to Lyon, so it's safe to assume that's what would be his preference. Article also says he has a transfer release clause of 12 million, and Sochaux is unlikely to sell for less.
  8. I mentioned his name purely on the basis that if Wigan were to go down he'd be fairly cheap and he's a good player that would fit in our 4-3-3 system just as well as Ba, because it's his natural position. Also going by our club philosophy he'd have a good re-sale value too. I think this notion is flawed on a number of levels. Firstly, Wigan look like they are staying up. Secondly, he won't come cheap even if Wigan are relegated; I'd imagine you're talking 6-8 million, which isn't exactly what I'd call cheap. Thirdly, he isn't a very good player at all; his goalscoring record in the Premiership is a whopping 1 in 10 and he seems to be the type of player who needs a lot of space to run into, so he's made for teams that are predominantly under the cosh. Fourthly, I don't think he's a winger in a 4-3-3 at all, as I have seen no evidence that he is a dribbler or crosser of the ball at all. Finally, at the price we would be looking at, I don't think there's that much scope for return on investment. At best he will one day be a good Premiership striker forward maybe 10-15 million, but there's every chance he will never even reach that level. In conclusion: if we need to replace Demba Ba's contribution to the team we need a higher grade of player, and I think there are much better deals to be found abroad.
  9. Ba is 3 times the player Moses is for crying out loud.
  10. I may be naive, but I don't expect to see Ba leaving this summer.

Welcome back Besty! Good to have another option on the bench for the run-in.
  12. Do they really believe Johan Cruyff would be even remotely interested in being their new DoF? Also, seems like their version of Moneyball is a heap of shit: http://tomkinstimes.com/2012/04/moneyball-statistics-and-damien-comolli/ I'd suggest they focus on assists provided and goals scored as meaningful statistics that correlate with games won.
  13. Which trend would this be? Aren't we on a run of 5 consecutive wins? Not that I object to a short break considering we don't play this weekend and what's coming up in the next few weeks, just found it an odd thing to say.
  14. That is true, but there is an easy answer to that - you appoint people who do know what they're doing to run the club day to day. You make it sound like that is the easiest thing in the world. It's not, as we know from personal, bitter experience, and Liverpool have also just found out.
  15. Bas Dost looks like the real deal at Heerenveen, but then so others like Afonso Alves have done. In the last summer transfer window, Ajax were very keen on him as a Suarez replacement, but Heerenveen didn't want to let him go. His height obviously makes him a good target man, but he's also quite a good finisher. He is however not the type of footballer who can really create chances; he needs service or he's useless. Apparently has a release clause of 7 million euros. Personally I think it's a big gamble and I'd much prefer if Ba stayed.
  16. Completely unreliable source for that one. Agree with the 10m threshold for transfers, both your remark and the club policy at the moment.
