  1. Good set of results from our perspective!
  2. 4 With a game in hand. Class. We're obviously going to Europe man. Well, we were..
  3. What's the betting Bruce will come out and complain about bad luck if they lose* tonight..? * fingers crossed...
  4. Sunlun look absolutely knackered out there compared to Chelsea..
  5. What an awful awful transfer window for us. We will be lucky to scrape survival as things stand. Having to rely on Shola to keep us up FFS...
  6. Exactly. The circumstances don't even matter. indeed. all about the bigger picture. Given, N'Zogbia, Milner, Bassong, Carroll. the pattern has now been set. I think it is reasonable to guess that this time next year or even in the summer we will be having this same conversation about someone like Tiote or Enrique. They'll have caught the eye of a bigger club, we'll have negotiated hard for a big fee, and maybe they'll have put in a transfer request to escape an unambitious club with haphazard ownership. and the same cretins will come out and defend ashley and say "But Tiote/Enrique/Barton/Ben Arfa requested a transfer." Do i blame Ashley for taking £35m rising to £40m? No, it's a great offer. Do i blame Carroll for putting in a request and moving? No, it's a great opportunity for him and we're not exactly an enticing proposition. However that shouldn't obscure the fact that under Ashley's tenure he's created a club that players like carroll want to escape from at the first sign of a better offer. And let's be honest here, had the club not wanted to sell Carroll, then no matter what Carroll wants, he would've been going nowhere. The club negotiated with liverpool all day, cancelled press conferences and so on - it seems fair to assume that they spent that time negotiating for the best price, knocking back the lower bids saying "not good enough" rather than"not for sale". some people are acting as if the only reason Carroll is going to Liverpool is because he put a transfer request in which seems, frankly, deluded. that happening just rubber stamped or speeded up the process, and gave the club a convenient excuse to take some heat off them. As always, good post.
  7. Happy with this deal. Hard to enjoy after we've just lost our only decent striker though.
  8. Dutch commentator said 37. Is that correct? Games 32 Goals 37 Assists 18 Unfuckingreal!

  10. Played midweek for them didn't he? Could be. Assumed it was his debut as he had only very recently moved.. Edit: just checked. He played Sampdoria in the cup midweek. Apologies..
  11. Done so well? If any of them (bar possibly Best for the Wham hattrick) had had their shooting boots on when they deputised for AC we would be sitting here with 4 more league points and possibly still be in the FA cup. Their lack of shooting boots didn't cost us those last minute goals. I was led to believe a win was worth 3 points regardless of how many goals you concede? Eh? You could easily invert that to "a win is worth 3 points regardless of how many goals you score". Regardless of the performance of the strikers, it was mistakes at the other end that cost us points, as we had both games about as close to won as possible. Pardew's comment I chose to question was not related to mistakes at the back though, was it? He was suggesting we had able options up front even if Carroll is not available and the last games had proved as much. I don't think this is the case and point towards the last games as evidence that we could have achieved more if we had a better second striker rather than the 4 mediocre ones he is referring to, who are at best back up options. Do you disagree, because I will happily list the sitters they have all missed which could have turned the draws into wins? The problem in these matches has not been a generally dodgy back five or an inability to create chances, it's been the quality up front to put these chances away convincingly...

  13. Sunderland and Spurs. In both games we missed a boat load of chances to put the game to bed only to concede a late equaliser.. Edit: I guess you found this out for yourself already..
  14. Done so well? If any of them (bar possibly Best for the Wham hattrick) had had their shooting boots on when they deputised for AC we would be sitting here with 4 more league points and possibly still be in the FA cup. We've not played badly, but none of them can be relied on to get us the goals in Carroll's absence.
  15. Is Kluivert the only striker you can think of who came from the Dutch league and proved successful outside of Holland? How about Van Nistelrooij, Bergkamp, Makaay, Haisselbank, Van Persie, Van Basten and Gullit and Ronaldo to name a few..?
