  1. We’ve already made a second signing, or to be accurate Tonali was signing #2. Even just considering Tonali, we’ve brought in a top class player in our weakest position by far. If it ended here I’d have faith in Howe to make it work with the players at his disposal. I’m not expecting a season as good as the one just ended in any case. European football qualification, a decent CL campaign and perhaps a cup run would be pretty good considering the foundations are still being laid for this project we’re on. I’d be mildly disappointed, but hardly up in arms. I’d rather we buy only top class players and prospects rather than more of what we already have and will struggle to offload in years to come.
  2. Conversely it appears that even a man cleared by two separate juries for the same alleged crime(s) cannot be deemed innocent or receive public messages of support from friends. Also, with it being 2023 and all, why single out women as rape victims?
  3. Bit in bold is complete horse poo like. Perhaps there wasn’t enough evidence because there was no rape in the first place. Your numbers that suggest improbability are plucked from thin air. Those quotes from the Guardian article shared above certainly suggest some young girls had consensual intercourse and came up with a plan to falsely accuse these men of rape.
  4. I just looked up some follow up posts from the author and some critical pieces dismantling its statistical basis. It’s almost completely guesswork.
  5. What data is that based on, i.e. who decided how many of the non-reported cases were false. I mean, how could one even know if they were unreported? It’s easy to create a graph that looks scientific, but that looks like pure guesswork.
  6. Any evidence for that? I’d imagine rape being quite a heinous crime the bar for conviction must be quite small if jury members have severe doubts. It also often leaves strong physical evidence I suspect. Stand to be corrected though. Edit: I was intrigued so decided to google it. Looks like the conviction rate is actually very high comparatively speaking, much as I suspected. 7. I don’t really see the problem like. I’m all for penalising rape hard, but Mendy has been tried twice now and cleared both times. Top level football being a small community, why can’t fellow pros, friends in some cases, be supportive of each other when some very serious allegations that ruined the career of one of their own have been judged to be tenuous at best? Juries don’t clear rape suspects lightly, so with that in mind why is everybody going on like fellow players are supporting a convicted rapist?
  8. Considering one is a left winger and the other a right winger, who is the right sided Barnes-like alternative you have in mind?
  9. All our players improved through better coaching and better tactics. Sell the lot I say.
  10. Miggy’s value for this team far exceeds his goalscoring contribution though. He’s not easily replaceable unless right wingers capable of double figures and also chasing a ball around for 90 minutes grow on trees somewhere.
  11. It doesn’t. That was also in the original tweet.
  12. I reckon you’ll be forgiven for creating the man his proper own thread.
  13. “Fair” market value doesn’t extend to transfer fees, does it..?
  14. Superb ending. Yous have kept your clean sheet somehow
  15. What is “enough contact”?
  16. Had to be Colwill of all players on the pitch. Think that’s a pen unfortunately
