Also if Longstaff or Willock (or any other central midfield player) is sold for PSR reasons we’d then have to go out and bring somebody else in, as we can’t have only five players for 3 positions and afaik nobody from the U21’s is ready to step up like Miley was last year.

Odd. I wouldn't say he's weaker defensively than offensively. Looks like a pretty well rounded central midfield player to me. Seeing as he's turning into something of a beast physically he should be able to do the Joelinton role pretty well going forward. Also I don't think he's unsuited to doing it on the right either (Bruno's current position). Edit: I went and did a bit of youtube scouting to see if I somehow misremembered. Majority of his highlights are defensive, i.e. taking the ball off an opponent and either driving forward or playing an offensive pass:

We play 3 in midfield and we have 5 other options. I would expect Miley to be 6th in the pecking order for starts, but to start cup games and get sub appearances in games where the scoreline allows it for the remainder of the season and until such a time where he overtakes the likes of Longstaff and Willock in the pecking order (he isn’t far behind as it is). Loaning him out without replacement (which we cannot afford) would be absolute madness imo.
