Forward for forward. Very brave

Seriously wish the FA would start banning Suarez and other divers retrospectively.. He even admitted to it recently, as if he was proud to do anything to win, even if that includes blatant cheating. c*** of the highest order.

I don't think Saturday can be used to prove or disprove Marveaux' ability to play wide, seeing as that's not where he seemed to play at all even though he came in to replace an injured Gouffran. Looked to me like he was operating in an already congested central area, rather than providing a wide option. Whether this was tactical or not I do not know, but he certainly didn't play as far forward and wide as the man he replaced.

Sturridge is injured for tonight ffs: lucky Suarez is my C He is defo out? KERNTS! for f***s sake. Got Sturridge as C and michu as VC. Now watch sturridge come on in the last ten minutes in the second match. Oh dear. Can see Michu scoring a hattrick now too before an injury time Sturridge sub.. -
He wasn't poor against Villa at all if you ask me. If that had been Williamson there is no way we would have held onto the lead in that second half when we were under the cosh.

Aye, never saw or heard any evidence of this tbh. It's a very easy thing to claim when things aren't going well. Was quite a few people in the Colo thread who suggested him wanting to leave was a result of a bust up with Pardew tbf when the news first broke.

I suppose we'd all like to think we're rational and can look at longer term objectives, but as football fans we're massively affected by week to week results and short term blips. Course. For example, really a sample of 5 or 6 seasons at least would be needed to judge a manager properly, but obviously that would never happen. Baby steps... a period of > one season would be a great start And would people really want some sheikh, a sugar daddy to guarantee success and render your support and the entire history of the club moot? I'd much rather a club that was successful under its own steam. I f***ing hate Man City / Chelsea / Anzhi and the others and I can't wait for the sugar daddies to get bored and leave them well and truly up the creek I personally believe that is a rather odd argument considering how Ashley has so far handled the legacy he acquired a few years ago.

The romantic in me says we're on the right track with the self sufficiency approach, but the realist in me knows we will never challenge for major honours, which I would love to see us do (again) in my lifetime. On that basis I wouldn't say no to the right prospective owner willing to subsidise such a project.

I've probably been a little bit overly harsh on Cisse after that Spurs game. In hindsight, and having seen a couple of replays, the header from the Colo cross wasn't exactly a sitter. Still believe he should have at least hit the target, and in the context of other big misses recently I was annoyed at that attempt, but it would have been a fantastic finish had he scored. After some reflection, I think I'm more annoyed by that run on the break with Sissoko, where he basically got in Moussa's way instead of using the space to their left to create space for both of them (dragging one or two defenders wide) and give Sissoko an option other than dribbling into the pack. Seemed to me like he was just running towards goal in a straight line unintelligently regardless of where Sissoko was obviously going. What's the point of staying within a few yards of the man dribbling with the ball when there's lots of space to the side? I genuinely hope he gets a few goals soon, as his confidence seems absolutely shot and it's affecting his decision making and ability to finish. He's the main striker now, and if we want to pull away from the relegation scrap and move up the table, a large responsibility now lies at his feet to create and score the goals that win us matches.
